LOGINELARA’S POVI didn’t sleep that night. I couldn’t. The next morning, I breezed through getting ready and then I went down the stairs, crown on my head.I saw the shock on their faces once I walked into the hall, amidst the meeting they were having. Solas saw me before they did.“Ohh, what happened to you?” Alicent gasped, putting a hand on her mouth. “You’re glowing”. I looked down at my hands, I really was, I didn’t notice until she pointed it out.I had barely taken time to look at the mirror this morning because I was lost in my thoughts.I opened my mouth to speak when Lioren spoke up “you’ve gotten the crown — but how?”I smiled softly, I wanted to answer all their questions but there wasn’t time for all of that now. Beros was the number one focus right now.“I will answer all your questions later”“Why later?” Alicent stood up, already noticing something was up.Lioren stood up too “I sensed someone else yesterday, was that — was it Aethon?” I nodded.Lioren’s eyes drifted to th
ELARA’S POVI didn’t understand what Aethon was saying, was this another one of his riddles? I didn’t have the time for that.“But how Aethon, the crown is the last artifact, I don’t even have an idea where it is” and I was right, I didn’t have an idea where the crown was, it was the only artifact I hadn’t been able to see the location. I was hoping that when Beros came, having the bracelet along with the other artifacts would allow me see it. “When you get the crown, you must act quick, for Nyxar will know you have it in your hands, you must be swift and get Beros as quick as possible”My brows scrunched together, I couldn’t seem to wrap my head around what Aethon was saying, I hadn’t even gotten the bracelet and I knew well enough that Aethon would tell me the location of the crown.“But — I have no idea where it is, and I can’t search for it now, the other artifacts aren’t leading me to anything”.“I do not interfere with the time and the seasons, I do not interfere with the thing
ELARA’S POVMy breath hitched as I heard his voice. Beros was okay, my mate was okay. I wanted to take a deep breath and steady myself but I couldn’t. Even though I knew he was okay, he still wasn’t with me, Nyxar still had him in his clutches.“It seems you’ve finally been able to reach him”, it was Alicent. I steadied my shaky voice before answering her, I didn’t trust myself to speak now.“Yes, I guess so, how long have you been standing there?” I knew when I heard her footsteps behind me.“I’ve been watching you, I wanted to know if you were fine, you’ve refused to talk to anyone after the incident” concern was written all over her face.I stood up after making sure my legs would hold my weight, I had drained my energy.“It’s fine Alicent, I just needed some time alone, I needed to be sure he was still okay”I took a step towards her, but my legs gave out, and I braced myself for the fall. Alicent caught me before I could hit the ground.“you’re so weak Elara. You should have — yo
CHAPTER 123ELARA’S POVI could still remember the look in his eyes as he dissolved into nothing. His silver eyes bleeding into black, it was a stark contrast to the beautiful eyes I knew him to have. My heart ached as I remembered it. But then, something else, something different than hurt started to take over.I could feel my fingers twitching as I sat in my room. Nyxar would have to pay for this, he would pay for every last bit of hurt he had put Beros through and I would make sure of that, and I would find Beros, no matter what happened.I resolved to myself that nothing and no one would stop me from finding Beros. I had been foolish before, had been deceived by the clone of dark magic he sent, but not now, not anymore, his creation had been sent back to him and I knew the message was clear.“This means war Nyxar” I breathed out as I felt the magic slithering over my veins. He would pay, and there was nothing anyone could do to stop me. Nothing.I picked up my things and left the
BEROS’ POVShe called my love foolish, I thought to myself. Here, in this darkness, it gave me time to reflect, to think about the mistakes I might have made, the — no, this was definitely the dark magic seeping into me, trying to consume me. I had to fight it. But the thoughts kept on coming, how did Nyxar amass this much power, he wasn’t even free yet? Was he? What was Elara doing now? I hoped she wasn’t looking for me, I didn’t want her caught up in this mess, I would figure a way out of it.Footsteps distracted me from my musing, and just like I thought, it was the same woman from earlier, her familiar voice reaching my ears.“Hello Beros” she said placing a dark bowl on the floor before me, with a snap of her fingers, the room was brighter, not bright — but bright enough for me to see the bowl in front of me and make out the slender and tall figure beneath the robe, the walls were still clouded in darkness though.I watched her as she brought out a knife and placed it on the floo
BEROS’ POVI felt the chains before I saw them and when I opened my eyes, all I saw was darkness, utter darkness. Where was I?I tried to remember what had happened but the memory came to me in bits and pieces, what happened? I was — I was trying to get the bracelet, and then, it hit me.I had the artifact in my hands, I had it with me before, before that blackness consumed me. The name resonated in my head before I said it out loud. Nyxar. That bastard had done this to me, had attacked me. I struggled against the chains, but they were too heavy, dark magic, that was all Nyxar was known for, dark evil magic and these chains reeked off it, I couldn’t break out, I wouldn’t be able to free myself.I struggled against the chains trying to look for anything, but the chains only drained me faster and kept on clanging loudly in the darkness. Fuck! How would I get out of here? Maybe I could contact Elara, but I didn’t want her to come here, she would come here running and might fall into this
