Liora Ashwin POV

Wolves howled in the distance.

My eyes blinked before fully regaining sight. The curtains were drawn, the room dimmer than I remembered, and above me was Helene, fidgeting with some herbs.

“Oh my, you’re awake,” she said, relief visible in those calm eyes of hers.

I tried sitting up, but my body jerked violently. My hands instantly flew to my neck. There was no wound, but the skin where I had been marked burned as though hot liquid had been poured on it.

“Ahhh… make it stop,” I begged, my other hand trembling as it tightened on the silk sheets.

“You have to accept it,” I heard Helene’s voice echo, distant and hollow.

I shook my head. “No… please, make it stop,” I cried, tears streaming down my face. My body trembled, sweat soaking into the sheets. I felt as though I was dying.

I didn’t want this kind of control over my life. I wanted to be free, to leave and make my own decisions. I wasn’t about escaping one cage only to enter another, but the mark was stronger than I had anticipated.

Usually, as long as a wolf didn’t agree, the mark wouldn’t form. The bond wouldn’t happen. But in this case, the latter was happening.

I felt him entangle within me.

My pulse spiked for a brief moment, then everything vanished as though it had never existed. The pain disappeared. My body relaxed, my temperature returned to normal, but I wasn’t normal.

I felt healthier. Stronger. Not tired.

My vision sharpened, as did my sense of smell and hearing. My hand trembled as I reached for the marked area, and without doubt, it was there, imprinted on my skin.

Then came his presence.

The connection with him.

“No…” I whispered, my voice barely audible.

But nothing shocked me more than my wolf’s nonchalant attitude. While I fought to reject the bond, she accepted it without delay. She moaned in my head like someone waking from a pleasant dream.

“How can you be so calm?” I asked her.

Her answer didn’t come in words. She stretched and rolled with satisfaction. While I felt sick and wrong, she felt pleased, almost eager to jump at him the next moment.

This wasn’t happening.

I had lost everything, including my wolf, to a man I hated.

A bitter chuckle escaped my lips. “This is pathetic,” I laughed, tears shimmering in my eyes.

Helene quickly grabbed my hand, checking my pulse, temperature, and the baby. I felt her body stiffen, her fingers hovering above my belly a little too long.

“He did it,” she said quietly.

“He said I didn’t need to agree, but I, ”

Her jaw tightened. “Of course he did.”

“What… what do I do?” I asked desperately. “I don’t want this.”

Helene drew in a long breath, her gaze settling on me as if contemplating whether to speak.

“Please help me,” I begged. “Can you undo whatever he did to me?”

The sad look she gave was the answer before her words followed.

“You’ve been claimed,” Helene announced.

But that wasn’t all.

She exhaled slowly, choosing her next words carefully. “What he did can’t be undone. Unlike other Alphas, he doesn’t need permission. From this moment onward, not only this pack but the realm at large has felt the bond. They know he has taken a mate, a Luna Queen who will rule by his side and bear him an heir.”

She looked at me.

“You are the one, Liora. And this fate of yours is sealed with his.”

My world crumbled harder than when I discovered Ryan’s betrayal. My chest twisted as tears streamed down my face.

“I will never accept him… never!” I roared.

She shook her head. “It doesn’t matter. Your body will call out to him, crave him, cling to him like life itself.”

Helene turned and began packing her items.

It was over.

There was nothing left of me.

I leaned against the headboard, my hand over my invisible baby bump.

The door opened again.

This time, I didn’t scream or crawl backward.

I felt him before I saw him.

The air shifted, heavy, commanding, alluring, wrapping around me like a blanket. Suddenly, I could smell him everywhere, thick and suffocating, like he was the air I needed to breathe.

My wolf stirred, eager to go to him, to snuggle into his arms.

But who was he to us?

My fingers curled into the sheets as I fought the pull.

Kael Veyron stood in the doorway, watching my every reaction, his eyes digging deep into my soul. He was composed, with a black coat, gloves, a mask, and boots.

Helene noticed his presence and bowed instantly. “Alpha.”

“Leave us,” he said calmly, but his words cut like steel.

She nodded and left, closing the door behind her.

Now it was just us, in a room that felt too thin to breathe in.

“You’ve stabilized faster than I expected.” his gaze shifted to my stomach. “Good.”

“Good?” I snapped. “You’ve branded me like property, and you say it’s good?”

He didn’t answer. Instead, he stepped closer, his footsteps hammering against the marble floor like a war drum.

“I secured you,” he said coldly.

“I didn’t want this,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “I told you I already had a mate.”

He stopped before the bed, something dangerous flickering in his gaze before vanishing.

“You had a weakness,” he corrected. “One that almost got you and your child killed.”

“That still doesn’t give you the right.”

“It gives me every damn right, Liora Ashwin,” he roared.

I crawled backward.

He leaned closer, his finger brushing against the wound on my neck. “They already tried to kill you under my watch. Next time, they won’t miss.”

My body shuddered under his touch.

“From this moment onward, no Alpha will dare look at you without fear. Your child will be born under my name, my protection, and my claws.”

“What about me?” I asked softly. “What do I get?”

His lips curled upward. “You live,” he said quietly.

Tears rolled down my cheeks.

“And in time,” he added, “you will understand.”

Despite the chaos inside me, my wolf pressed forward, eager for his touch, eager to lean into him. I turned my face away.

“I won’t forgive you,” I whispered.

“I didn’t ask,” he replied coldly.

He strode toward the door, his back turned to me. “You will get used to it.”

The door slammed shut.

Silence settled.

And for the first time since the night I was rejected, fear wasn’t the only thing tightening around my chest.

Revenge brewed quietly in a distant corner.

If I had to pay this price, then others would pay theirs.

And his name was Kael Veyron.

Certainly, I wouldn’t be the only one to suffer.

  • Rejected While Pregnant: The Masked Alpha's Luna Queen   A New Generation Begins [The End} of book one.

Third PersonFive years on... over the past years, Blackmoon had changed into what was only ever on paper. After the wolf packs were all united, it certainly did not come without rejection and resistance. Silverfang, which was the first to be integrated, had long welcomed the idea, after all, the new rule did not treat the people as badly as their last alpha did. But most of the resistance came from Iron Ridge, not only had their alpha taken too many concubines into his harem and bred children that did not survive, but he had also introduced a handful of families into the business, so yes, the death of Fredrick Leonard was not very well welcomed. There is certainly no change without destruction, so yes, it wasn't only buildings that went down for trade routes and markets, healing centers, or schools to be constructed, but some families had to spill blood so others learned.Frostfang wasn't any better, but their case was different. Their land was unfruitful, and the princess they had al

  • Rejected While Pregnant: The Masked Alpha's Luna Queen   New High Priest.

Third PersonA month had gone by since Soren Acle was buried, and the luna council, with the other alphas, were sitting for the third time since then. In the Hall of Elders, packed not only with the luna's council members but also with alphas and lunas of small and big packs, everyone with a stake in the realm had gathered. And after months of taking over Silverfang, Darius Blackthorn was finally home. His family not only welcomed him in grand style, but the alpha's family welcomed him home with open arms. Varik gave him a hard shake, and he bowed deeply to the luna. Liora patted him on the shoulders."Good job," she said. Darius smiled.Silverfang had turned into a shadow of what it used to stand for after the Crest took over. The image they carried was only on the outside; the treasury had long been so limited that it could barely sustain the lifestyle they bragged about, but not once did they stop to think. After Darius took over, he not only refined the pack, but with the trade ro

  • Rejected While Pregnant: The Masked Alpha's Luna Queen   Soren Acle

Third PersonThe morning sun came with a certain level of brightness that not only felt warm but also made the people think toward the direction of change. The arena gates had long opened after the last howl of dawn, and one after another the people gathered. Since it was the largest arena within the pack, the luna's court had to make use of it. Meanwhile, the luna's court members, who had only sent one representative, sent others, and pack alphas and lunas who had not been represented sent representatives.Days ago, after Soren Acle's crimes came to light, Merlin sent out letters demanding every pack represent itself. Iron Ridge pack was represented by their alpha and luna, Merilyn Morgan, the parents of Marvin, the mate of Yella Caswell. Claw pack's representative was none other than Elandor and his luna, Kelly Elandor. Certainly, Frostfang had no one to send; Alpha Kain had fallen asleep and not woken up. The death of his daughter had taken a toll on his heart, and it was rumored

  • Rejected While Pregnant: The Masked Alpha's Luna Queen   A rare of peace

Third PersonAlpha Kael was still presiding over the ministers when Team walked up and whispered a few words to Frank. Everyone noticed; how could they not when he had walked in with his clothes soaked in blood that didn't appear to be his, as he moved without restriction? Maddox, who had taken over, quickly sniffed the stench of blood and turned only to catch Frank's posture. He was far from composed."Alpha," Frank bowed, his hands trembling on both sides."Where is Marvin?" Kael asked, quickly taking back control. Team lowered his head, unable to make out a word."Where is Marvin?" Kael growled, a thundering wave sweeping past the arena, and everyone held their breath. Team quickly collapsed onto both knees."He, he set himself and the estate on fire." His words came out louder. Kael staggered backward."I told him he could join the pack," he said, his voice coming out more like a whisper, barely audible. Deep down, he had expected such an outcome, but with it now staring him in th

  • Rejected While Pregnant: The Masked Alpha's Luna Queen   indulging her

Third PersonThat night Bernard walked into Fredrick Leonard's study, where he sat with Marvin going through some files. The room was dimmed, and only the desk carried enough light to see through the files."Has she left?" he asked, not looking up from the files. Bernard bowed."Yes, master," he muttered. The pen in Fredrick's hand dropped, and his back leaned against his chair, a heavy breath he didn't know he was holding escaping his lips."Have I indulged her too much?" he asked, and neither man before him dared say a word. One thing they had learned was never to interfere in the affairs of the master and his mate. Karine could do anything and get away with it, but not them. He had watched her help Yella escape and dared not send guards after her. Why? It wasn't because he didn't want to or because he wasn't aware the baby she carried wasn't his; it was because the woman within the back courtyard had guards on him, men who would report to her without fail, and he dared not kill any

  • Rejected While Pregnant: The Masked Alpha's Luna Queen   Paid it forward

Third PersonThat was two days ago, and now Yella stepped out of her quarters for the first time since she came back from pleading. The surroundings had suddenly changed, or maybe they hadn't. It was still as beautiful as it used to be, but now it looked more like a beautiful cage. No one had brought anything, and the last she heard of Blackmoon was that her father stood trial for crimes he committed against the pack and his family. She was dressed in a blue dress that flowed with her steps, with little slippers that barely made any sound as she walked. The guards at the entrance didn't notice her; at least she wished they had, so they wouldn't have gone on chatting so freely."I heard the madam's father was executed for killing his wife and the late alpha and his family." Yella's steps halted, and her breath caught."Serves him right; a man who can marry off his daughter for favors deserves worse. I hope his death was brutal," the second guard asked, and Yella hated how her body anti
