Talon

I jolted awake, my heart racing heavily, as if someone had whispered to me.

“She’s coming.”

I don’t have to ask who. The voice is familiar; it’s the voice that has been haunting me for months. I hear it in my dreams, and it brings back the shadow of a woman glowing in golden light. Her presence in my dream is radiant, and it lingers in my mind much longer than I think, actively stirring something inside me. I don’t know. I know the vision holds a crucial meaning that is tied to my destiny, but I seek clarity. I have no idea what her name is or what her face looks like, but I do know she’s coming. And each time, the feeling weighs strongly on me. My life doesn't need any complications.

I sit up rather hesitantly, trying to shake off the weight of the feeling. Even if I don’t know her yet, whoever she is, I feel a sense of responsibility towards her. I strongly feel the need to protect her and shield her. But I’m not ready for that; I’m not ready to face another challenge. not o

A comforting heat wraps me; it is soft and gives me warmth like sunlight after a mighty storm. Faint smells of herbs and poultices fill the room. It feels familiar, like the golden cottage I saw in my dream. I take a deep breath, letting the warmth envelop me. My fur feels damp and my breathing is shallow; I know my wolf feels it too, eager for more rest after weeks of being in complete controlMy wolf and I have been through a lot these past weeks, between being betrayed by my own pack, cast away as a rogue, the encounter with the strange woman and the golden cottage, and running tirelessly in the thick forest. I feel the exhaustion weighing strongly on me as exhaustion takes its toll on me. "You should shift back." Talon's voice comes low and soothing in my mind. I feel her longing to let go, to pass the reins to me. I started to shift back; it is happening slowly but gradually. My wolf is giving way to my human form as I lay there. Warmth tingles spread along my spine, and my bone

My eyes are glued to him. I am stunned the moment I open my eyes; it is as if I’m caught in a trance I don’t quite understand. His eyes—forest green—glint back at me as mine hold his deep and watchful eyes. Everything about him seems intense; his skin is glowy, creamy, latte-toned skin. His curls, which knot into locs, fall below his back. He has mesmerising facial features, his lips plump, his nose pointed and delicate, with piercings in the left nostril. He is perfect; I don’t know where to look first as I take in his beauty. He has a strong aura around him, exuding authority and strength. I gazed at him in admiration, his face a beautiful blend of ruggedness and beauty. His eyes sent fireworks lighting up in my head, like a spell. For a moment, I drowned myself in looking at his face. I felt a strong pull towards his energy when his gaze met mine.“Ours,” my wolf whispers, her voice coming as a faint marmot in the back of my mind. As I continue my admiration, a calm, strange, and u

Each day I’ve spent here, I experience a new kind of care. Hosea’s care is like nothing I’ve ever seen; it is totally new to me. She attends to me gently, cleaning me with warm towels and bringing me bowls of thick, sweet soup that feels warm to my body. As she smooths my hair back with her patient hands, she coos softly, whispering comforting words to me as though she knows I need it.When I tear up, mourning the life I had and now miss, she wraps me in her arms. I long for her hugs; they are tender and knowing, and it leaves a lingering feeling of condor inside me and melts something within I didn’t know had hardened. A mother's love. It feels raw and whole every time, and it opens up wounds I had hidden for long. "Phoenix, you are special,” she says one evening when I cry silently on her shoulder. “I know you probably don’t understand it yet, but your coming here is divine; you are here for a special reason.” Her words hit my ears smooth and soothingly; it echoes, sticking to my e

I look into his eyes, and his expression is not what I expected; it is hard. His eyes still bearing holes into mine, his brows furrowing together relentlessly. Something about his gaze left an unsettling feeling within me, but I didn’t give up. I fixed my gaze on his hard stare, patiently waiting for him to lash on me. I’ve been here for a couple of days, and Talon’s energy is different from anything I have ever felt. It is strong, firm, and raw. As he continued to give me death stares, I matched his energy and retorted with a stern gaze. Which is unusual; I’m not a weak wolf by any means, but I never would have stared so boldly into an alpha’s eye like this. “It’s been weeks,” he finally says; his tone is low and masked with irritation; he isn’t even trying to hide it. “We don’t run a charity organization here. Now, tell me, Who are you, and why did you become a rogue?”His tone stirs the wolf inside of me, and I feel that indignant fire rising within. Even if I’ve gone through the

The finality in his tone is harsh, and it cut through me like a blade, and Talia let out a wounded whimper, dropping her initial rage. The anger I felt has been replaced by something graver, rejection. I feel it spread through my whole body like a wildfire, leaving a deep ache in my chest. I look up to meet his gaze, desperately searching for any hint of sympathy and understanding, but there’s none. His face is void of any; it’s deep green eyes are cold and unyielding. Though I sense something else beyond the hard exterior, as if his wolf is against him. Realisation begins to settle in me, and it leaves me breathless. I’ve finally become a castaway. I was rejected back home, and now I’m rejected here too. My wolf stirs up in agony, and I’m fighting so hard to not break. Just as I am thinking about my ill fate, Hosea steps in; she stands in between Talon and me. Her eyes full of indignation as she comes face to face with Talon. “You cannot throw her out,” she says in the softest yet p

Talon‘s words settle down in my chest, and I also think back to Hosea’s words. My heartbeat quickens, and I try to process the whole message, Hosea’s satisfactory look, and Talon’s terrifying rage. “Talon dear, I have stood by you all these years. Do you think I’ll lie to you now?” Hosea’s voice breaks through my thoughts; her voice is steady and her gaze rests sharply on Talon. “I also wish there’s a way out, but you cannot fight fate. Fighting fate comes with its penalty, and it is disastrous. You know better; you know that destiny cannot be altered, and this right here is your destiny.”I could feel Talon’s frustration as he shifted uncomfortably. I wait for his response, but he doesn’t respond. Though his eyes are blaring with a thousand questions, his jaw tightens, and his body is rigid, as if trying to brace himself against something he should not believe. I feel for him as much as I feel for myself and watch him shift more in frustration. “I said it, didn’t I? I told you she

The sound of the door reverberated behind me as I slammed it shut. My fist clenched tightly as I walked down the corridor, my chest tight with the weight of what Hosea said. “You are bonding already.” Those words lingered in my mind, and it keeps ringing in my head unrelentless. My wolf keeps stirring uneasily, but I shoved the burning sensation aside, focusing on my anger and confusion at the moment. I don’t want this; I didn’t ask for any of it. Phoenix. Her name alone set my teeth on edge. She wasn’t supposed to be a part of my world; she’s not supposed to be here. She just stumbled into my territory. A rogue, that's what she is. Phoenix is trouble to me but now, Hosea’s words fill me with even more rage over a fact I’ve feared since the moment I saw her in the forest. She is the golden wolf, the one tied to me in a bond I didn’t ask for.My boots are pounding heavily against the stone floor as I round a corner. My mind is racing non-stop. Days pass in an uneasy blur, and I still hold my resolve firmly. The weight of my decision was killing me, and the tension inside simmered just below the surface, my wolf stirring restlessly but subdued. I spent nights patrolling the edges of my territory; the cool evening air did nothing to clear the storm of thoughts in my head. I can’t keep avoiding Hosea. It’s morning, and as the first light shines through the horizon, I stand outside her quarters, rehearsing the wording of my decision. The morning air is crisp and heavy with the scent of pine and frost. I knock at her door once, my fist firm against the weathered wood of Hosea’s door.“Come in,” Hosea’s steady voice called out.I push the door open, and in a minute, I am in, and she’s seated at a small table. Hosea’s gaze lifted to meet mine, curiosity flashing through her soft eyes. She gestured towards a second chair, but I didn’t sit. “I’ve made a decision,” I say, trying to keep my voice low and steady. “Phoenix can stay,

PHOENIXI stood hand in hand with Talon, our fingers intertwined as we watch our daughter, Daciana, race across the howling ground, her laughter ringing through the crisp morning air. The sun bathing the clearing in golden light, illuminating the pack members sparring nearby. Strength and unity coursing through the pack, a testament to all we have fought to restore.A warm breeze rustles the trees as Mira and Hosea approach, their expressions filled with mischief. “You two went ahead and recreated yourselves.” Mira teased, nudging me with a grin. I chuckle, my golden eyes shining with warmth and satisfaction. “She certainly has her father’s stubbornness.” “And her mother’s fire,” Talon adds, squeezing hand. Hosea folds her arms, watching the pup play. “I Keep thinking back to how it all began to unfold. How close we came to losing everything. Although, I always knew deep down that as long as the bond stays, restoration was sure.” I couldn’t help but exhale as memories came rushi

PHOENIX “Ahh ahh.. I knew you would come back, you can’t run away from your home.” Dylan sneers. I stepped forward, my gaze unwavering. “And this time, I’ve come to put an end to you.”Dylan laughed, his voice dripping with malice. “With which strength? Your power as the golden wolf can’t challenge the one I’ve acquired. Seeing that you were too stubborn to be my mate, I had to step up and be more. You are a fool, Phoenix.”Talon stepped beside me, my power radiating from within. “She is not alone.” He said.Dylan’s smile faltered. My shoulders squared. “Let’s finish this, Alpha Talon,” I say looking at Talon with renewed hope and strength. My pulse thundered as I felt his rage. Let the battle begin. My heart pounded as Talon and I raced toward Dylan, the weight of our purpose pressing upon me like never before. The meeting with the divine being in the sacred region had shown me to the core. The choice she made was absolute, she would fight without intervention and she would do it

TALONMy mind reeled at the creature’s words, Birthright? I turned to Phoenix, expecting to see the confusion on her face but she looked calm instead. She knows.“Phoenix?” I ask, my voice steady but edged with uncertainty. She looked at me, her golden eyes shining under the ethereal glow of the sacred region. “I knew I was different Talon. Everyone including Hosea said so but what I didn’t know is to extent to which I must wield this power…until now.”The massive golden wolf before us, the divine being tilts its head, watching me closely. Then, it spoke again. “You have come to restore what is lost. To reclaim what has been tainted. Moonston’s veil was once an unbreakable force, a shield that protected the territory and your pack. But an evil force has stepped into its heart, and it weakened it from within.”Cain.Dylan.I clench my fists. Those bastards has been working against us all along and now it is clear, Cain invited darkness into Moonsyone, allowing our enemies to breach t

The weight of responsibility pressed down on my chest as I and Talon stood before the remnants of Silvercrest. The decision has been made, we have to leave. There is no other way to save what is left of our world. The surviving pack members gather around, their eyes full of worry and grief. Many of them are injured, some barely able to stand. Among them are my stepmother and Lucia, they’ve been through so much these past few days.I turn to her, gently squeezing her hand. “I swear to you, we will come back. This will always be my home.”Lucia who looks exhausted from catering from the injured pack, nod weakly. “We will be here waiting.”Talon surveyed the crowd. “You will be safe here. We are taking you to a place where you will be protected against any more of Dylan’s revengeful attacks.”A few wolves exchange glances, uncertain but trusting this Alpha. We will take them to the Ironclaw pack territory, we had built a relationship with at this point, they have become family. PHOENIXI feel weightless as if I am drifting between reality and something far beyond my understanding. I am neither awake nor asleep, I simply exist in a vast, endless void. Then, a voice echoed through the emptiness. “You have come far, but your journey is not yet over.” I turned, searching for the source of the voice but all I see is swirling golden mist. It looks familiar, just like the first time I was cast out of Silvercrest. That night, when I had first heard the whispers that led me to the north region of Shadowpine. That night when my life took a rapid turn. My pulse immediately quickened as the mist condensed, forming into a shape, a towering, ethereal figure with eyes that glow like molten gold. The presence radiating power, ancient and overwhelming, but strangely soothing at the same time. I swallowed, forcing myself to speak. “Who are you?” The being tilts its head, amusement flickering in its luminous gaze. “The same one who guided you once. The one who marked you

PHOENIXThe night air is thick with tension, and I can feel Talia, pacing restlyly with. Her fury burn out, nearly uncontrollable, as I and Talon before Cain, who now has control over moonstone territory. The pack house is silent, an eerie kind of silence that signifies fear and oppression. I clench my fists, my nails digging into my palms as I watch the man who has once stood beside Talon as Beta, stand against him.Everything in me screams to lunge, to rip Cain apart for his betrayal, for his smug expression, for the way he has turned our people into hostages. But I can't, not with Mira and Hosea being held hostage too. My heart pounds in my chest as Cain turns his back on Talon, issuing orders to these strange wolves. He has locked us out, barring us from the very home we have fought so hard to protect. I can feel Talon’s pain. His fists are already clenched so tightly that his knuckles turn white, his body taut with withheld rage. But what is most painful is the heartbreak I see

The moment those words flew out to his mouth, two of the enforcers surged forward, their movements precise and well-trained.I feel my fury explode like wildfire. A guttural growl ripped from my throat, my wolf straining against the surface. I take a step forward, my muscles coiling. But a firm hand shootout, grabbing my wrist.Hosea.I turn, confusion flashing in my gaze as she holds me back. I looked into her eyes that are devoid of fear, all I see is an unwavering resolve.“No!” she says, her voice low but commanding. “Not this way”My chest heaves, and my nostrils flare as I struggle to rein myself in. “Hosea, he can't —” “I know, I know Talon,” she says, cutting me off gently, her gaze never leaving mine. “But Listen to me.” “You look just like him,” Hosea whispers as she turns to face Cain.Cain tilts his head. “Like who?”“Your grandfather.” Hosea’s voice wavers as she takes a step closer. “The one who tried to claim Moonstone as his own. TALONI stepped through the broken threshold of the Moonstone packhouse, at this point every nerve in me was on edge. Phoenix is standing at my side, her golden eyes scanning the eerie silence of what is supposed to be our home. Behind us, Hosea, Mira, and the enforcers follow, their steps cautious, their senses alert. The territory feels hollow the moment we cross into it. The absence of the veil, the mystical barrier that has once kept the pack hidden and protected is unsettling. It is as if the very soul of Moonstone has been stripped away, leaving us exposed and vulnerable. “Something is wrong,” Phoenix whispers, gripping my forearm. I nodded, my jaw tightening as we entered the main hall. The air is thick with an unnatural stillness. No sounds of wolves moving through the corridors, no scent of heartfires burning. It’s all just silence here. Then, at the center of the house, standing as if he has been waiting, is Cain. My breath left me in a slow, controlled exhale. Cain sto
