Chapter Thirty-Eight: Receiving someone else hatred

The bathroom door opened, and I quickly wiped away my tears, but not in time for Lucas, not to see that I was crying.

"What happened Arissa?" Lucas inquired me worriedly as he came over to me.

"Nothing, I'm fine," I answered him softly while I sat up. He sat beside me, gazing at me. I turned my head away not wanting to look at him now. I was just too down.

"Did dad say something to you when you went downstairs?" Lucas's strong voice inquired me.

I didn't answer him. I just remained to hold my head away from his.

"Arissa....," he called me softly eager to know.

I nodded sadly and lowered my head.

"Come babe," Lucas called me to turn toward him. As I did, he held me within his arms.

"I'll sort out this once and for all tomorrow, I promise," Lucas assured me.

I nodded as I returned his hug, hoping he will. I didn't feel happy being here knowing his dad couldn't stand me for anything at all.
