I paused mid-way through opening my door and just – I just stared at them. He had his hand around her waist and he leaned down to whisper something into her ear. She giggled some more. It was the most annoying sound I ever heard in my life.

“Oh, hi, Selene,” Xander greeted when he raised his head.

My eyes moved from the girl in his arms to him. His face was bright as if he had just discovered the most precious thing in the world. His eyes were alive, those eyes that I had thought often of were alive because of the girl in his arms.

It was just the other day that he said he liked me so who was this new girl? Had his words been lies? Or was it so fast for people to move on? Why did it feel like the centre of my world had been titled and I was now on the verge of falling through time and space? Why did my eyes sting and why was my throat so dry?
