Being the First Lady should mean being happy and having everything at your beck and call but to Amy, it was far from that. She was stuck in a marriage that to the public looked like the perfect marriage but to her, it was filled with pain, hate, betrayal, and nothing close to happiness.

Chapter 1
"I would like to take this opportunity to welcome my sweetheart, my sunshine, my queen, my beloved wife, the most beautiful woman on the planet, and the first lady to say hi," he called out showering her with compliments. This could be every lady's dream to be a First Lady center of attraction and was once hers. With a red straight gown, revealing her curves and had a slit from her thigh down, she walked down the staircase leading to the garden. It was a grand gala and everyone present was happy except her. To everyone she had the perfect marriage, the best husband and they were the perfect couples in town. The gown was imported from Paris and the makeup artist, had done wonders adding to her natural looks, she killed it. With her looks, one may think she just came out of a fashion magazine though she once wished to be a fashion designer and model everything changed when she got married to one of the richest men and a governor making her the First Lady. She has been marri

Chapter 2
"Ma'am your presence is needed in the backyard," the maid announced. "Who is calling me?" She inquired frustrated. Can't they give her time to be alone for once? "Ma'am Abigael, big boss Amos and ma'am Jedidah," she informed her, and Alma panicked. Did something go wrong? When she left everything was going on smoothly? She started regretting coming back to the room as she had just embarrassed and disappointed the whole family with her ignorance. "After you," Alma told her but she didn't move an inch. "Hey, I thought I said I'm coming after you," "Ma'am Abigael said I shouldn't go without you," This was more serious than she thought. What could have gone so wrong to make her say that? She wanted to ask the maid but knowing fully well how such gossip will spread in the mansion, she preferred to shut her mouth instead. The serious faces that she met made her panic reducing her steps. She left the maid with her work inside so she had no shield against the glares she rec

She locked the door behind her and sat on the floor crying. She had so many questions with no one to reply. Three days ago she threw that nonsense away because she was tired of seeing them each time she opened the drawer and it seemed like they were mocking her. Was she that dirty to him? But he married her a virgin and what hurts her so much he used protection to break her virginity. She was naive and stupid and followed whatever he said but this time she wanted to feel him but maybe he didn't want the same thing. She cried herself to sleep On the floor and on walking up she had dark circles around her eyes evidence that she didn't have a good sleep. She took a shower and applied heavy makeup to hide the dark circles then left for the stables to visit her favorite mare. It is the only good thing that has happened to her since the day she came into the compound and it was white. A color that symbolizes peace and it happens to be its typical nature as it was always peace

"Call me when you get home," Quincy had instructed and gave her his card when they got where she could get home without getting lost again. She typed his contact on her phone when she got to the guest room and dialed it. He picked on the second ring. "Hello, it's Alma," she introduced herself. "Hey, you are home already?" He asked. "Yes, just arrived a few minutes ago. Thank you so much, if not for you, I would still be stuck in the words," she appreciated. "You are welcome, I now have your contact, I'll call you back later," he promised. "I'll be waiting," she answered and hung up then dropped on the bed ready to sleep. Lenox stepped into the house and met his friends all smiles. It's has been a long he has seen him smiling voluntarily. "What is making you so happy?" He asked seating opposite him. "I finally got her contact," he responded smiling. "Who? Do I know her? Can I meet her?" Lenox rushed his questions. "Alma," he replied. "Man that girl is married,

"It's a beautiful garden? We had a garden here but was never taken care of quite well till Alma came. She is such a sweet soul don't you think?" She furrowed her brows. "Yes, she is," Tamara nodded in approval as the maid served them the juice. "I'm starting to stay here due to the job I got so we will be seeing each other often. When she told me how good of a friend you are, I told myself, why don't I be friends with this amazing girl," she shrugged and Tamara nodded absentmindedly. "Can we be friends?" She requested stretching out her hand for a handshake. "We can be friends," Tamara shook hands with her. "Thank you. I love reading novels so much and there is this one I'm reading now, gal, it's an amazing story. Since we are friends, I can narrate it to you. I'm not yet done with the novel but you will love it," she spoke happily and Tamara was confused. She couldn't tell if everything was real or an act, like how do you become friends with someone and be free with the

Chapter 6
“Thank you,” she appreciated few minutes later wiping away her tears. She felt a bit relieved, a quarter of her burdens gone away with the tears. “Why are you always crying?” “Some things in life, words can’t explain. Thank you for your shoulder, it is a rare opportunity to cry on someone like you,” she chuckled at her own words. “Let’s go for a walk?” he suggested getting up. “I’m the first lady, I’m married, you are a celebrity if we are seen together we will be on the headlines tomorrow, the last thing I want right now is a scandal, I have enough on my plate, a scandal will kill me,” she responded. “I also don’t need one right now, come join me in my car. I’ll be waiting for you in the car, don’t take long,” he walked away to his car. This was only an excuse but what he really wanted was an alone time with her, he had so many questions to ask her to clear his confusions, his puzzle wasn’t adding up and maybe she was the missing piece he has been looking for. Alma loo

Confusion was an understatement for Erica. She expected to meet Alma outside when she got out but nobody was there. She searched everywhere and panicked.   She dialed her number several times but it was going to voicemail. "Where are you? Call me as soon as you get this message," she left a message for her and decided to drive home thinking that maybe she decided to go home. It was getting late and she started receiving calls from Josh and Tamara. She decided to pick Tamara's call to help her find answers to give to Josh.   "Hello," "Where are you? Where is Alma? Why isn't she picking her calls? Josh is worried about her," Tamara rushed her questions and all she did was sigh. Telling her she didn't know where Alma was wouldn't be a solution as both of them will be in trouble. "Is he worried or are you worried on his behalf?" Erica asked. She didn't want Tamara to suspect anything as there was something about her that seemed fishy.   She was sure Tamara had an affair wi

Unwillingly Erica followed her outside the house and rushed their step till they go to the car. There was tension in the car as Erica wanted an explanation as to what happened in there but she was drunk and couldn't even remember what she said and even if she can remember she can't bring herself to tell Erica what was happening in her marriage, as she was scared that Erica will end up hating Josh which may cause a rift between Josh and Erica's husband. That was the last thing she wanted to happen. "May I know what is happening to you?" Erica asked. "Nothing much, I guess you already know that Josh is cheating on me," she shrugged that was the only excuse she could come up with and still keep the image of her marriage because Erica already knew. "If that's the reason why you're stressing yourself out you are wasting your time enjoying your marriage while it still lasts," Erica advised.   "I heard some men never cheat on their wives but it's rare and unfortunately, my husban

"What can I hide from you? We are friends for better or worse," Tamara laughed nervously. Alma looked at her then at Josh keenly the sat on the bed.         "I have this strong feeling that something is wrong somewhere? My heart is telling me that, I hope it is just a mere feeling and nothing more. I had a long, fun-filled night that I wasn't able to get enough sleep, thank you Tamara but I will appreciate it more if you leave my room," Alma spoke and lay on the bed, covering herself with the duvet. Tamara was fuming in anger.          "You are chasing me out of your house?"         "No, just my bedroom, you are welcomed in the house but not my room,"  she laid down on the bed, covered herself with the duvet, closed her eyes, and ignored them. Tamara picked her bag and walked out of the room not uttering a word and josh ran after her only to bump into Jedidah who was coming to his room.          "What is that woman doing in your room?" Jedidah asked.         "It is not w

Chapter 10
Alma sat in her car and wondered what she was doing. She was a few blocks away from Quincy's house and wasn't even sure if she will meet him at home. Giving it a second thought, getting the phone wasn't important as she could have just gotten another phone and let that be but here she was staring at his big gate.   She looked around and didn't see anyone, instead of reversing and driving away, she took her hood and put it on, she took the glasses, her purse and got down from the car.   She rushed her steps and went inside the gate, she wanted to remove her good but changed her mind just in case his girlfriend was home. The thought of finding another woman in his house hurt her but she couldn't explain why.   Quincy was about to go to the bathroom when he heard the doorbell ring. The only person he was expecting at that time was his friend as they were going to have lunch at a restaurant then go somewhere afterward.   He rushed downstairs and was surprised at how his visitor w
