Damien's pov…..

The pack gates creaked open as we returned.

The familiar scent of woodsmoke, pine, and warm bread hit me first. Home. Or something close to it. The merged camp had begun to feel almost… real. Alive. Children ran between huts. Warriors laughed near the sparring circle. The guards on the watchtower bowed when Louis and I passed.

She walked ahead of me, her spine straight, head high__ Alpha__ Always Alpha.

And still, somehow, my undoing.

I watched her longer than I should have.

The moon was already rising, pale and full above the trees. Its glow dusted her hair in silver and softened the sharp lines of her posture. She turned slightly, as if she could feel my eyes on her.

I looked into her eyes and everything stilled.

Just for a heartbeat.

Something passed between us, Just quiet… awareness.

I cleared my throat. “Louis.”

She paused and turned to me

I stepped closer, ignoring the way my wolf stirred under my ribs. “Would you… want to watch the moonlight tonight?”

The words

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 137: Controlling the darkness

Damien’s POV……It started as a whisper. Not a voice. Not words.Just… pressure.Like something coiled tightly around my spine, watching, waiting, patient in a way that made my skin crawl.I stood at the edge of the training field, arms folded, pretending everything was normal. The wolves didn’t notice.Louis didn’t notice. Not yet.But I felt it.Every heartbeat.Every breath.Every moment she was near. The darker part of me stirred more violently around her. As though her presence was both a balm and a provocation.Mine. Protect her. Take her. Bind her. Claim her. Keep her safe even if you must break the world.I clenched my jaw.Shut up.The voice didn’t leave. It never truly did.The day after we spent together felt… different. Not because Louis had changed. She was still careful, Still guarded__ Still proud. But softer.More open. She looked at me when she thought I wasn’t watching. She smiled more easily. She stood closer. And every small shift in her behavior pulled at something

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 136: Growing bonds

Louis’s POV……Morning came softly. Not with alarm or dread. Not with urgency or fear.Just sunlight spilling across the floorboards and the quiet rhythm of birdsong outside my window.I stayed still for a moment, staring at the ceiling. It felt… strange.Waking without anxiety clawing at my chest. Without immediately running through threats, duties, responsibilities. For the first time in a long while, my first thought wasn’t about survival. It was about him.Damien.The memory of last night lingered like warmth beneath my skin. The river. The moonlight. The way he’d looked at me when I told him I would try.Not like I was something he owned.Like I was something he treasured.I exhaled slowly.Ridiculous.Completely ridiculous. And yet my lips curved slightly as I pushed myself out of bed.I dressed simply today. Comfortable clothes, my hair braided loosely over one shoulder. No armor, no stiffness. Just… Louis. That alone felt like rebellion. The corridors were already alive when I

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 135: Moonlight date

Louis's pov……I changed outfits three times.Three.Which was ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.I stood in front of the huge mirror in my quarters, my arms folded, staring at my reflection like it had personally betrayed me.“You are an Alpha,” I muttered. “Not a nervous girl preparing for a first date.”The word date made my stomach flip. This was not a date. This was just… moonlight watching. That was all.And yet.I smoothed my hands down the sides of my dark trousers for the fourth time, then adjusted the soft, fitted top I’d chosen. Practical. Comfortable. Still… nice. My hair was loose instead of tied back. That wasn’t intentional. I just… forgot to tie it.That was all.I took a breath. Then another. Then I left before I could change again.Damien was already waiting near the edge of the clearing when I arrived.Leaning casually against a tree. Arms folded. Dark hair slightly damp, like he’d just finishing taking a bathe. Moonlight brushing over sharp lines of his face.He loo

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 133: The kiss

Louis’s POV…….I was in the training yard correcting a warrior’s stance when one of the younger guard wolves sprinted toward me, breathless, his eyes wide.“Alpha Louis,” he panted. “There—there’s something in the eastern woods.”I straightened immediately. “Slow down. Tell me what you saw.”He swallowed. “I didn’t see it. I felt it. Like… like something watching us. The patrol dogs refused to go further. And the birds went silent.”That alone set every instinct in my body on edge.Silence in the forest was never natural.“I’ll handle it,” I said, already turning toward the packhouse.“Alpha Damien already heard,” the wolf added quickly. “He said he’d go check it out.”I froze.Of course he did.I spun back to the warrior. “He’s going alone?”The wolf hesitated. “He said it could be dangerous. That you should remain here.”Heat sparked under my skin—anger.“I am not some fragile thing to be protected from my own territory,” I said sharply. “Return to your duties.”By the time I reache

  • The Alpha king and the Hunt   Chapter 122: I like dominant women

Louis’ POV…..I woke up slowly. Not with pain. Not with panic or heat.Just… quiet. The first thing I noticed was the warmth. Not the fevered heat that had burned through me before, but something steady and grounding. The second was the faint scent of herbs clinging to my skin, cool and earthy. The healer’s work.I blinked, my lashes heavy, my body sore in a way that spoke of exhaustion rather than injury.I was alive. The realization settled gently, without fireworks. No rush of fear. No sharp memory of claws or teeth or desperation. Just the soft creak of the den as someone moved outside and the distant sounds of the pack starting their day.I pushed myself upright slowly, testing my balance. My head swam for a moment, then steadied.“You’re awake.”I turned at the sound of the healer’s voice. She stood near the entrance, arms folded, eyes sharp but relieved.“How do you feel?” she asked.“Like I wrestled the forest and lost,” I muttered. She snorted. “You’re lucky to be alive.”I
