Destinee POV.

I woke up bright and early, eager to start my new job as a bar manager. Pulling my happy ass up and out of bed, I stretched and greeted the morning. “Morning Aura, are we ready to start our new job?” She stretched in my mind and yawned. I giggled at her laziness.

“Well, someone is ready to conquer the world, but first we need coffee and lots of it. It should be a crime for someone to be this cheerful in the mornings.” Aura all but huffed in my head. She is not a morning wolf. She would prefer to sleep. Lazy wolf.

“I heard that.” She growled out, and I chuckled at her reaction.

I entered the bathroom and got the shock of my life when I looked into the mirror. “Aura, what is going on?” I asked, looking at myself.

Overnight I had filled out slightly. My eyes sparkle and look alive and brighter. My hair glowed with regained lustre, volume, and vitality.

She giggled in my head, “silly human, you look gorgeous. My healing abilities don’t just heal open wounds, I have healed you to look like your old self again. Do you like it, or do you want to look like a skeleton again?” I rolled my eyes at her, rude.

“No, I’m not complaining. I’m just shocked. I never thought I would look like me so soon, that’s all. Thank you, Aura.” She chuckled in my mind. I turned the shower on and stepped in, washing the remnants of sleep away.

Once re energised and ready to take on the day, I stepped out and got dressed. I threw on a pair of ripped black jeans and a white vest top. Complete with my black boots. I pulled my long hair into a high ponytail. Gave myself a once over and left the bedroom, in search of coffee and food.

Wolves eat more than humans; our metabolism burns fast. When I was an Omega, I didn’t get enough food and now I have a strong appetite and eat a lot. I love it.

Once Aura and I were fed, I grabbed the keys, phone and headed out towards the bar.

Sadia was waiting for me. “Bloody hell! You look amazing. What did you do?” she asked with a low whistle. She approached me and circled me, scrutinising my new appearance. “Damn, girl, you look great. What’s your secret?” I giggled at the compliment.

“Aura,” I replied, and she nodded her head in understanding. I felt good about who I was again. I should have never been subjected to the hell I was in. Rejecting my pack was the best decision I made and one I wouldn’t regret.

“What needs doing?” I asked, wanting to make a start with my new job and position. Sadia chuckled at me for my enthusiasm. She told me what needed to be done and set me off to work. I am a quick learner, so I grasped it immediately.

The locals who frequented the bar after their working day were lovely men. Never once were they disrespectful, not that I couldn’t handle them if they were. Aura had a great time too, helping me remember orders. We were a superb team.

The shift flew by. After my shift ended, I headed to the office to go over the paperwork and help Sadia with the accounts.

My father had me run the pack finances and the pack when he was away on official duties. Well, that was before the bastard stripped me of my title. I scoff at the memory. I am better off without them.

“How could you not know about accounts? You were a Luna?” I stared at Sadia pinching the bridge of my nose all she did was shrug. I suppressed a groan. This is a joke.

“He took care of the finances. All I had to do was organise parties and socialise. I told you he was a weak Alpha. He never wanted me being a part of his team, selfish prick he was.” I let out a sigh. Some Alphas believe the role of a Luna is to have pups, organise gatherings and to sit and look pretty.

“Some Alpha’s don’t deserve the title,” Aura growled out. I nodded my head at her. She is right, the men always think they are kings when, in fact, they are jokers. It’s the women who kept the pack going, not the men. She-wolves can fight better than male wolves at times. I knew this because I was the best fighter in my old pack.

After a few hours of sorting out the finances of the bar and placing orders. We get ready to leave.

Leaving the office, we walked into the bar. It was a Friday night and so there were a few people in the bar, unwinding from the working week. The scent of rogues hit me, and a low growl rumbled in my throat. It was going to take some getting used to.

I approached the bar, and Janelle was working with another woman. Her presence was intimidating. She glared at me and I glared right back. The old Destinee would have cowered and tucked tail showing submission, well that was before I received Aura, in the past few days, I have become stronger.

“Hey Destinee, when did you get here?” Janelle asked in her bubbly tone. I chuckled at her. She was a sweet she-wolf, and her personality was contagious.

“I’ve been here since opening, was in the office doing paperwork with Sadia. Everything ok here?” I asked, resting my arms on the bar, not taking my eyes off of her. The she-wolf behind her snorted. I turned my gaze towards her.

“Yeah, everything is great, thank you. Do you want a drink?” I nodded my head with a smile.

“Desperado with lime, please.” She smiled at me and got to work. My gaze moved to the she-wolf behind the bar. Her gaze became hard. I chuckled at her. She will learn her place.

“You got a problem?” I said, raising an eyebrow at her. She scoffed at me and folded her arms over her chest.

“So, you’re the new manager? You’re an outsider and don’t belong here. That position should have been mine.” She snarled out. I rolled my eyes at her blatant disrespect. Janelle passed me my bottle. I thank her, handed over the money. Taking a sip of the bottle, not taking my eyes off the disrespectful she-wolf.

She growled at me; I placed the bottle down on the bar and felt Aura stare. “She will not disrespect us. Teach this bitch her place.” Aura said, with a cocky smirk on her face. I laughed in her face. She will learn.

“Let me guess, your Marnie? Well, I’m sorry to tell you this bitch, but Sadia chose me. You need to learn your place.” I gritted out as I felt Aura come forward to show Marnie who she was dealing with. She is no match for us. Aura pushed some of her authority out on to Marnie.

The power of the Alpha authority made her gasp and whimper. “Do you understand? You will not disrespect me or any member of staff here, do.you.understand?” she gasped and nodded her head. Good.

Aura is giggling in my head as she moves back further into my mind. I took my bottle and walked towards Sadia, who was watching with a big grin plastered on her face. “Well, at least you didn’t throw her down, so for that I’m grateful. Can’t be dealing with the cops.” She clinked her bottle with mine.

We laughed and had a great night. Sadia introduced me to the security guards and a few locals. We played pool and danced while the band played. I could get used to this.

I knew this wouldn’t last and that my mate would find me eventually, but I would try to enjoy it whilst it lasted. I could only hope it lasted a while, because I was enjoying my newfound freedom.

I hope Titus finds her soon and she doesn't reject him out of stupidity.

I’m really enjoying this book so far. It’s heartbreaking what she went through but damn she is magnificent now. She’s one powerful she-wolf now. ...️...️
