Ridge’s Pov

“So that's the last you saw her trail?” I asked Roman and he nodded, looking down. He was seated in front of me, right after the meeting I had with the security personnel to talk about Nabi.

This was really getting out of hand, and I knew I had to find her before the pack members got wind of this, or even the elders.

They would nag and apportion blames like it were a damn sport, debating whether it was my fault for letting her go to run in the first place, like it was something not normal, or Blake’s fault for suggesting it None of it would matter, though. None of their politics or finger-pointing would get her back.

“I’m sorry, Alpha Ridge,” Roman muttered, jaw clenched. “I should’ve seen it sooner. It was as if she doubled back through the creek, washed her scent off completely. I lost her near the ridge line.”

The irony of that location didn’t escape me. My name, the place. And the fact that Blake had once told me she hated the idea of getting lost there, when I t

Ridge’s PovFor a long moment, all I did was stand there. I couldn’t move, breathe or even think because my head went blank, and it seemed like I had lost all sense of reasoning. A coma. The word rang in my head like a death sentence. Finn’s lips kept moving, but I didn’t hear a damn thing any longer. My eyes were glued to the trauma room door, where Blake was lying; my wife, my mate, my everything, and I couldn’t get to her. I couldn’t hold her. Couldn’t pull her back. It was Roman’s hand on my shoulder that dragged me out of the haze. “Alpha Ridge,” he said low, steady, the only anchor I had right now. “You need to listen.” I blinked hard, tearing my gaze from the door, and focused on Finn. His face was pale, drawn tight, like he’d aged ten years in half an hour. “We’ve controlled the bleeding for now,” he said carefully, “but she’s very weak. The baby…” He hesitated, like he was afraid I would shatter if he spoke the words aloud. “The baby that survived is small, but holding on

Ridge’s Pov“Where the fuck are the doctors?” I asked Roman as I walked back into the common room. The damn party had been interrupted and over, so everyone had either gone back home or to their respective chambers in here at the pack house. They knew we’ll not to cross me. Roman looked down at his phone, and then at me. “They both just arrived.” He said. I wondered why we had to wait two solid hours for the two doctors we had here in the pack, but then again, they were probably at work, which was why they couldn’t even make the party in the first place. We walked out of the common room to the front door, where the doctors were already getting out of their cars. “Good evening, Alpha R…” “Keep your greetings to yourself, and get to my wife.” I said. “Where is she?” One of them asked and I grunted. “She’s in my chambers. Follow me.” I said and started towards the elevator. A few minutes later, we were there, and the doctors started to examine Blake. I stood at the sid

Blake’s Pov Groaning, I turned gently, my body reacting to the move with pain, and I winced. I could hear a sudden shuffle from somewhere inside the room, and when I forced my eyes open to see who it was, I realize that I couldn’t. “God, she’s been unconscious for a couple of hours now, Mom, and this is all Clarissa’s fault. You should have never have allowed her back here. You shouldn’t have given her a place to stay when she came back.” I heard Julia’s voice. I started to wonder if she was talking to her mother on the phone until I heard Elaine’s voice. She was in the room as well. “Are you saying it’s somehow my fault?” She asked. I heard Julia scoffed, then she said. “I’m not saying it’s your fault. I’m saying you shouldn’t have given her the chance to come back.” She said. “Do you even hear yourself? Are you making any sense?” Elaine asked, her voice kind of low, even though I could hear it clearly. “Of course, you get defensive Mom. Don’t think I don’t know you allo

Ridge’s Pov Looking around, I saw that people were starting to look at Blake, with accusation in there eyes, and some were even pointing fingers, murmuring things to her. I gritted my teeth as I looked from them to Roman, signaling to him to come drag off this woman before I did what I would regret. He gave a curt nod and started towards the podium, but he didn’t make it here before I heard the loud thud, and then someone shouted. “She’s fainted, the Luna has fainted.” The sound hit me like a gunshot. My head snapped toward where Blake had been standing, and my chest tightened so hard it hurt. She was on the floor, pale as paper, her hair spilling over the polished wood like ink on snow. For a heartbeat, I couldn’t move… then instinct took over. I was across the room before anyone else even thought to reach her, shoving past a knot of gawking wolves who didn’t have the sense to get out of my way. My knees hit the floor beside her, and I scooped her up, one arm cradling her ba

Blake’s PovI wasnt comfortable here at all, whatever this party was about, but it had nothing to do with the fact that I was the only human here, it was more because I didn't like coming to a party when Nabi was home sick, and I wasn't even allowed to see him. I stood there beside the trays, the air thick with the warmth of the food and the low hum of conversation. One long table groaned under the weight of roasted venison, its skin lacquered to a deep bronze, glistening under the soft lights. Next to it sat cast-iron skillets of garlic butter potatoes, their edges crisp and golden, scattered with sprigs of rosemary. Baskets of cornbread; some plain, some speckled with jalapeños, were stacked high, the golden squares oozing honey where it had dripped between them. Further down, whole trout lay on cedar planks, their skin charred in places, flaking apart at the lightest touch. Bowls of jewel-toned berry preserves gleamed beside tiered stands of apple pies dusted with cinnamon so fi

Blake’s Pov Thank goodness, Nabi was finally awake, and as I made my way to her room, Roman stopped me. “You can’t go in, Luna. The alpha forbade it.” He said. I furrowed my brows in a frown, not sure I heard him quite well. “What are you talking about? Why can’t I go in?” I asked again. “Like I said, Luna, Alpha Ridge forbids you from going anywhere near Nabi.” He repeated. “What? Why?” I couldn’t help but shout my question because believe me, I was confused. I wasn’t even sure why I was being stopped from going to see Nabi, let alone by Ridge’s orders. Roman lifted his shoulder in a shrug. “He said you’re not supposed to be riled up in anyway, and you’re in a fragile state. Congratulations by the way.” He said, giving me a soft smile. I blinked at him, still trying to process what he’d just said. “Roman, I’m pregnant, not made of glass. And Nabi just woke up, do you know how worried I’ve been? I need to see her.” He shifted on his feet, clearly uncomfortable. “I get that
