Ashton's POV

"My love? Why are you back so soon? I thought you would call me, did your brother take you home?" My husband asked right after he saw me watching him and my son in the backyard with his brothers.

The boys were having fun as they played darts, and I was hoping my brother was with them and my day would be complete. I felt sad for Isabelle and Dexter, but there was nothing I could do about their love story, but hoped that Dexter would have a change of heart.

"Dexter was busy with his work, and I could say surprising someone would not always work. He was on his way out when I arrived, so we only talked a little, and I let him leave since his boss was calling him nonstop." I lied.

"I asked Ava to take me back here," I added before he could ask me who took me home.

"Oh, that is sweet of her; where is she?" Ashton asked.

"I invited her to come inside, but she has a date with her boyfriend," I replied, and I could see a beautiful smile on his face.

"Dad, it is your turn," Axel called out to his father, and before Ashton could get the dart, I took it and threw it to the board, and they all shouted in awe when I accidentally hit the bullseye.

"Wow, that is cool, mom; I wanted to belong to your team from now on," Axel said, and his uncles laughed. I could see my husband's forehead crinkle, and I came closer to him, and I slowly put my arms around his neck without breaking eye contact with him.

"What can you say, lover boy?" I asked, and he chuckled as he pulled me closer to him while I could hear our son's voice cheering for Lennon.

"It was absolutely perfect, and I don't remember you were playing dart before," he teased.

"You knew I was good with darts," I answered, and my laughter died on my mouth when he claimed my mouth, and we shared a passionate kiss.

The days passed in a blur. It was Friday, and I couldn't stop excited about the upcoming party. I smiled when I received Alice's text message telling me she was already in Astikoz; she was staying at her boyfriend's place.

My husband and son were in the living room with Ashton's siblings while I was lying on my bed since I was avoiding Isabelle. It is not because I don't want to see her; I am just worried if I can't stop my mouth and I will end up telling her what is going on with my brother's life.

"Alice!" I exclaimed when I found her standing outside Ashton's bedroom, and she was beaming at me from ear to ear, and I threw myself at her right away.

"I missed you, Megan!" She replied as she tightly hugged me.

"I missed you too, Al," I replied and asked her to follow me inside Ashton's room.

"How do you know this is Ashton's room?" I asked after we sat on the couch.

"Zach came with me, and he left after he told me this was his best friend's bedroom. Why are you here alone when they are all in the living room? Are you alright, Meg?" She asked.

I had kept it to myself, and I knew I could trust my best friend; I needed to talk with her, or else I would lose my mind.

"Oh no! That is so sad, Megan. I worry about Isabelle," Alice said after I told her what I had found out earlier.

"Yeah, I feel sad too, but I can't change Dexter's mind," I replied.

"I know; by the way, I am worried about your father-in-law. Do you think he is for real?" She asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked back.

"I don't think someone like him would change his attitude overnight, Megan; come to think of how much he hated you and your son. I don't understand why Gregory suddenly became the best father in the world to his children unless he was planning something." Alice declared.

"Hey, you don't need to doubt him; I could say how much he adores my kid," I responded with a smile.

"Well, about Axel, there is no doubt Gregory's heart would melt just watching your son smile, and when that boy calls him grandpa, I am sure he can't resist him, but to you, I am not convinced that he would like you after all he had done to you." My best friend stated.

"Why do you think I am not likable?" I asked, and she gave me her sweet smile.

"Believe me, Megan, boys would be crazy about you, but I don't think you won Ashton's father; I could tell he will never accept you as his daughter-in-law; you knew he would always like Claire to be Ashton's wife." She declared.

"Do you know you are hurting me by telling me something like that, Alice?" I asked, feeling hurt by what she said.

"I know, but you should not expect that he will treat you right, Meg; I don't want you to be disappointed in the end." She replied.

"Hey, why don't you give him a chance to prove himself that he is now a renewed man, Al? See it for yourself; trust me, Ashton's dad is an amazing father, and I understand why he acted that way to me." I declared.

"I knew he only wanted what was best for his children, and I don't think it would be best if we judged him based on his previous mistakes, Alice," I said, and her face fell.

"Okay, just don't blame me that I didn't warn you if it will happen, Meg. I am afraid for tomorrow's party." She answered.

My husband fetched us when it was time for dinner, and Zachary introduced Alice to Gregory, and I could see how much my best friend's face changed when Ashton's dad spoke and welcomed her into his household.

The dinner was superb, and I am glad my best friend had fun with Ashton's family.

"I guess I was wrong, Meg," she said as I walked with her towards Zach's house while my husband, together with her boyfriend and Axel, was walking ahead of us, and it was such a beautiful night. my husband and son were walking ahead of us.

"I am happy for you, Megan, I love watching you this happy, and I wish everything would remain as it is; I don't want to see you miserable ever again." My best friend stated, and I looked at her sideways as I smiled.

"You have a happy family now, and you are successful with your career, and knowing all is well with Ashton's dad, I could tell you are contented, and you are on the right path." She added.

"Thank you, Alice. I was wishing the same thing, and thank you so much for being there for me always; you know I couldn't make it without you." I replied.

"No, I know it would be the opposite; I didn't know what would happen to me without you; if you left me here after my break-up with my boyfriend, I could tell I would have a miserable life, and I don't know

if I will graduate in college without all your help." She responded.

"You earned your degree through your hard work Alice," I responded, and she beamed at me as we continued walking in silence.

The following day, the household staff of the Pritzgold mansion became so busy as they prepared for the party.

The party will be held outdoors near the swimming pool. The garden looked so fantastic, and the whole place looked so magical. The caterer employees started setting up early afternoon, and I was watching them from Ashton's window with a smile on my face.

My parents and sister arrived earlier; my husband and son were excited to meet them, and Ashton toured them around the mansion.

"I had been dying to see your house, Ashton, your house can be seen in the city, and I was right; you have a magnificent house, and I love it so much. The interior looked fantastic, and the room you assigned us looked like we were in a five-star hotel." My sister declared, and my husband chuckled.

"This is my parents' house, Ava, but I enjoyed my childhood here," Ashton responded.

We brought them back to their assigned room, and Axel stayed with them; Ashton informed Ava she had her room.

"No, thanks, I would love to stay here with my mom and dad, I am sure the room you are going to give me would be as big as this, and I don't think I can sleep alone in a room bigger than our house." She responded, and we all laughed.

I told our son, to come to his father's room before five o'clock so he could put on his suit for the party. I could tell my son became happier when he saw my family member.

"Are you ready for tonight, my love?" My husband asked after he closed the door, and he yanked me as he leaned his back on the door frame; how he looked at me made me feel so weak, and I could feel the butterflies in my stomach.

"Yeah, but I am a little nervous knowing most of the guests, except my family, came from the elite society," I answered, and he cupped my chin while his intense gaze gave me a thrill.

"You don't need to worry about anything, Megan; I will be by your side, and always remember, this party was for the three of us, I could tell my father changed a lot after he met our son, and it made me feel so happy." He responded.

"I couldn't wait to show everyone I have you as my wife, my love," he whispered. I felt like I was on cloud nine when my husband kissed me until my lips got swollen, and I was excited about the party with my family, and I knew it would be the best party ever, having my husband by my side.
