Susan was sending a report to her direct boss via email when Mrs Smith stepped into her office, taking a seat in front of her. Susan didn't want to hear anymore about the increment but accorded the woman her utmost respect by giving her the listening ear.

"Susan, there was a review of all staff in our branch last week and the report from the appraisals we did sent to the head office. I was queried for being biased because the directors from there thought you haven't been treated fairly."

The woman paused, taking in her facial expressions but Susan showed none, just listening attentively. She has had great admiration for her immediate boss because he was very respectable. He never hit on any girl in the office, rather taking his job seriously, though a greater portion was always done by Susan but she felt it helped her to improve and never complained. She loved her job.
