THE MATING CEREMONY

It was another ridiculous mating ceremony. Even though the celestial servant had proclaimed the arrival of my mate, I had no interest in mating and marking a pretentious slut as my Luna.

No woman was worthy of standing by my side. And if tonight, the moon goddess gives me a worthless woman as a mate, I will reject and go as far as killing her in front of everyone.

That is a promise. I strode into the dining room where other members of my family were present. Their smiles died down as I joined them at the table.

"Good morning, Alpha Knox. You are up early. I guess you are excited about tonight's mating ceremony," my mother said with an awkward smile.

"Excited? I am more than delighted," I muttered, matching her pretense.

She smiled then turned her attention to her brother. After that, no one spoke to me not even my siblings.

They were like outsiders to me. Each of them held a grudge against me. It never bothered me because I loved the malice.

It made it easy for me to cut them off without hesitation. To me, emotion was the beginning of a man's downfall.

Living as a dead man without empathy was the only way to survive a world full of hate and greed for power.

As we dined in silence, my sister, Rachel clumsily spilled her tea on her body causing an uproar of concern.

I glared at her, making it known to her that I would soon come to punish her for barging into my room.

She was a curious cat that couldn't stay inside a bag. And the only way I could keep her mouth shut was to threaten her with what she loved the most. Currently, it was that dumb boyfriend of her.

I would be far more glad to use him to keep her shut. Maybe, cost him a finger or two.

"Excuse me, I am sorry for causing a mess. Please, let me get myself cleaned," she said, getting up from her chair.

"Is that necessary?" I questioned, startling everyone on the table. Starting from my uncle to his family, my aunts and their family down to my family.

"What do you mean, Knox? Your sister got hurt and you think it is unnecessary to clean herself up."

"She understands when I mean, right?" I stared at her with a knowing smile and she shook in fear.

"Of course, I understand. Mom, you have nothing to worry about. He is more than concerned about me," she defended me.

"You are clearly hurt, Rachel. You are in no way fine," my mom insisted.

"No, I am fine."

"Good, you know what it would cost you if you do something like that again. So be careful from now on," I warned her and she nodded in response before she ran out of the dining room.

I continued to eat my food in silence until I was done. My mom couldn't contain the spite she had towards me as she glared.

But none of it bothered me. Once I was done with my meal, I went down to the oak tree where I would meet my mate tonight.

After surveying the area, I went back inside and called for my Beta.

"Vok, during tonight's ceremony I want you to keep an eye on the head councilor's house. Tell me every detail of his movement and that of his daughter as well," I ordered.

"Yes, alpha. Is there anything else you want me to do?" He asked.

"Would you like to hunt? I suddenly have the urge to kill."

"Of course, Alpha. I will get the guns ready," he said and we both matched down to the firing ground.

Vok brought our guns and together we shot down birds of different species in the forest.

This was the fastest way to kill time for me since I had nothing to do until the mating ceremony was over.

We killed a lot of birds until I satisfied the blood thirst I felt within.

"One hundredth bird down. You have gotten better at hunting Vok," I praised him and he slightly smiled.

Vok was the only person I trusted among my circle. This is because I sired him, not that I expect his full loyalty. Everyone was bound to be betrayed someday.

But Vok has proved to me countless times his loyalty. He was even better than my biological brother. Yet, I don't trust him not to betray me. After all, he knew my secret.

"I learned from the best," he said, dismembering his gun. The day had gone by without us realizing it and finally, the night was upon us.

"Alright, it is time we get ready for the ceremony. I hope you find your mate, tonight as well." I wished him before going back to my room.

Just as I expected, my slave vessel sat by the window sill again watching the dumb sky. A stupid habit she did to kill boredom.

I slammed the door shut, making my presence known. She jolted in fear, making her come down to welcome me.

"Did you have fun watching the sky again today?" I asked, bringing her arm to my mouth.

"Yes," she answered and I bit down on her skin. She frown in pain but remained silent.

Once I drank the amount of blood I needed, I sealed her wound and went inside the bathroom to freshen up and change into good clothes.

She stood at the same spot I left her and watched me prepare for the ceremony.

"Remember, I will return after midnight. You are not allowed to get out this room until I get back. Be good," I reminded her before stepping out again.

At the little time I had gone up to change, some guests had arrived. They exchanged greeting with me but didn't lingered to join in their discussion.

The mating ceremony commerced after madam Lafayette called it open. After she opened the ceremony ground, she approached me.

"Remember what I said about meeting your mate at the right time. No one is expected to see her. She is your divine Luna. The only woman that will redeem you from your curse. Don't fail to meet her tonight," she warned and varnished into mist.

I lingered around the hall, monitoring the ceremony ritual for a while before I slipped into the shadows.

With gentle steps, I strode down the path that led to the oak tree. It was a sacred place connected to the moon goddess.

Secluded from the sight of others, only the Alpha of the pack was worthy of entering the sacred garden.

I stood by the entrance of the garden acknowledging the magnificent tree. Unlike other trees, it glowed with silver snow flakes falling around it hence the name winter fall pack.

After a few minutes, just like the celestial servant had said, my mate appeared in a glowing form. Even my wolf didn't fail to acknowledge her.

He began to growl, echoing mate inside. "Hold your horses mate. She is ours."

And just when I was about to make that happen, she ran.

My fucking mate ran. Well, I was up for the race because tonight was going to be her end.

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Life without him

3 MONTHS LATER I stared out the window, watching him as I counted my breaths. Something bad was about to happen. I could feel it. The silence of the night grew more intense each second, and before I could count my ninth breath, a truck crashed into our car. My mom screamed in shock as our car tumbled to the side of the cliff. Everything happened in a flash. My ears became attuned to a painful, blurring sound. When I opened my eyes, all I saw was blood gushing out of my dying mother's neck. Her eyes were sorrowful and dull, life slipping out of her slowly. "Mommy." I cried, trying to reach out to her. "Mommy." My brother called out with a cracked voice. He was injured on the side of his head and was bleeding from his mouth. "Run, Kira. Don't look back, mommy will come and get you," she managed to stutter, even though her eyes held blame in them. I cried, unable to abandon them, but my mom yelled, then muttered a word that set me free from the car seat belt. I crawled out qu

I stood still like a candle glued to a spot. "Nina," the voice came again. My eyes flew wide. It was him. He was really talking to me. I tried to turn around, but then I recalled what the witch said.He has no beloved.Ashira's Laughter echoed in my ears. I shook my head as if to shake it out of my head. And out of an unpleasant moment, I drew my strength. I'd made up my mind to never look back, even if my head were to fall off. I heard my name two more times before the gate opened for us all to go in. We stood in front of the council of Alphas. Every one of us. I could see some people from the winter fell pack. From the corner of my eye, I could see Knox. The two guards dragged him like he was some rag doll. For a moment, I began to think he might be deceiving us all. He was a hybrid for crying out loud. He wouldn't be defeated just like that. The alphas walked into the court and sat. My heart began to race. In their mouths held the key to Knox's freedom. As soon as one of them

“Don’t touch him!” I tried to shield him, but Xander held me bound. “Ashira, stop! Please, you don’t have to kill him!” I cried. She raised the Stake to the sky. “No!!!! Please stop, I beg you,” but all my pleas fell on deaf ears. She descended the stake down to Knox’s chest, and he coughed out blood, and he began to turn black. “No!!!!!” Tears began to fall. He was dead. He was dead. Oh no! I threw myself to the floor and wept. “Why did you have to kill him?” I pulled at my hair, muttering or screaming. Xander let go of me as I rolled in the blood and sand. A thousand and one things were happening to me. I had an elevated heart rate and pulse. My muscles were going limp quickly I couldn’t even lift a finger. I began seeing spots. I gasped. I couldn’t breathe. I began feeling like I couldn’t get enough oxygen. My breath came out all rushed. I lay there on the ground, and then I could see someone screaming. She had her hands stretched out to me. “Nina!” she wailed. I could fain

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Shocked

A woman was staring at me when I woke up. My eyelids fluttered. For a moment, I didn’t know a thing about myself. When that woman smirked at me, recognition hit me. Ashira. I jerked up. “Nina, you are awake!” I turned to see Lilith behind me. She had tears running down her cheeks. It seemed like she had been crying for a while. I wanted to wipe her tears, but I noticed I couldn’t move my hands. It felt like they were made of stone. “You finally woke up,” she said as she cupped my face in her arms. “ I told you she would,” a voice said.” It’s the shock from the mate bond. I turned around to see the man standing beside Ashira, and everything I thought was a nightmare turned out to be true. The dead bodies of dead wolves. The blood, dismembered bodies, and tears began to fall from my eyes, and I didn’t bother to clean them. “Come on, let’s go,” Lilith said between tears. I turned and saw that lying beside me was Knox. I threw myself on him immediately. “Your highness

I was running around like a headless chicken after I had put on some clothes, then Lilith grabbed me. “Listen up, Nina, "she said. “Now is not the time to cry and yell, now is the time to act,” she said in gritted teeth. “If you want to help Alpha Knox, we have to leave here, we have to do something.” I quickly nodded. I ran to the door and kept banging, but no one was answering, nor was the door opening. I put my ear to the door, and it was silent. My heart raced. Where was the guard stationed here? I turned. “Lilith, the door won't open. How can we leave?” She also began to bang on the door. She sighed. “It’s useless, we need to find another way out.” Her eyes scanned the room. I too was staring at the room I had occupied for months. It was now that I was seeing certain things I didn't bother to check. “There!” I pointed to a vent. “Alright, let's get a chair to reach there,” Lilith said. Together, we stacked chairs high up to the ceiling and then removed the vent. Lilith wa

My eyes opened, and the first thing I laid my eyes on was a pair of eyes. Hunter-shaped. They were covered, but I most definitely knew the colors behind them. Dark green. They were so dark that they could be black when he was pissed. Paired with his black hair, he was dangerously handsome. The kind you wouldn't want to come close to. With one look, Knox had me melting. He could compel me. I thought for a moment. Could he compel like some vampires? Well, he was only part vampire. Don't tell me it's just the blood aspect he got from his vampire side?I sighed softly. That doesn't matter. This dangerously looking hybrid wanted me, and I could not say no. Memories of our night together flashed through my head, and I blushed red. The way his hands did wonders on me. They were as soft as a feather but firm as a hammer. I leaned in and gave him a small kiss. Then I pulled away strands of hair from his head. Watching him sleep. This must be the most peaceful I have seen him. Even when he

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    A Little Happiness

When I opened my eyes that morning, I tried to wave aside that gory, bloodied dream I had. I shook my head. Today was for Lilith, and I needed good emotions. Weddings always make me cry, but Lilith’s hit different. It was like a dream come true. To see her go from her lowest to how she is now made me smile like an idiot. It felt surreal. I watched her glow as she stood with Vok. Who knew that the beta was going to be her mate? I mean, if I were asked in a million years to come, I would never think the Beta was the one for her. Even though he looked like stone when he was talking about work or with the alpha, every time he saw Lilith, he was all smiles. It was strange seeing Vok smile, but Lilith had that effect on people. She was the most positive person I have ever known. And then there was Lukas, Vok’s young son, proudly carrying the rings with a grin so big his cheeks looked sore. Lilith had told me, when his father asked that she marry him, Lukas begged that she be his mot

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Surprises

I woke up to this banging headache. Oww! I rubbed a hand on my head. How long have I been awake? Is it morning yet? I felt so rough. What happened last night? Oh my head hurts. Okay, I will never drink again. Ever. Slowly, I managed to sit up. I looked around and I couldn’t remember where I was or what had happened last. For a moment, I just sat still. Waiting. Watching. Hoping. That my brain answers all these questions in my head, but nothing comes out. “Hello,” I called out. My voice is as coarse as sandpaper on skin. I thought maybe if I counted to ten, I’ll speak again, and so I counted. One. Two. Three…. “Hello? Anyone there?” And just like that, someone in a uniform appeared. She walked in with a smile and dropped food at the side of my bed. “Hello?” She turned to me and smiled brightly. Immediately, she ran out of the room screaming. And then she came back with someone else. “She’s speaking!” the one in uniform screamed. I squinted at the person she brought. She look

The boy was wiping his nose when I walked up to him. “You okay, buddy?’ I asked and he replied, nodding quickly. I squat to his level. “It’s okay don't cry, little guy.” he nodded. He raised his hand to my face. “Please excuse me,” he slowly began wiping his face clean. I was touched by such emotions from a little child. “Can I give you a hug?” I said. He looked up at me with teary eyes and nodded. Immediately, I pulled him into my arms, and he wept. I could feel my eyes filling up with tears. Why was he being bullied? Where were his parents? A lot of questions ran through my mind as he stayed in my arms. And when we separated, I couldn’t help but wonder who would do this to such a handsome child. Then I saw something. A resemblance. The boy looked familiar. I couldn't just place it, but I knew he looked like someone I knew. It was so hard not to see the resemblance. I shook my head, ridding my head of such a thought. Nah, I was overthinking it, since he was the one I ha
