LOGINKathleen's POV
Once on the stage, I stood in front of him, and we said our vows to each other before the priest marked us as husband and wife.
"Since you are chosen mates and not mates by fate, you can seal the bond by marking each other. It will be a representation of your unending love," the priest said, and I don't know if I was being paranoid, but I saw some hesitancy in Drake's eyes when the priest mentioned marking.
"Hey, if you are not comfortable doing it in front of everyone, we can skip it for now," I suggested, not wanting to push it, and he shook his head.
Taking my hand in his, he tilted my head, making me hold his neck to a perfect angle as we sank our teeth into each other's flesh, making everyone around us howl in joy.
"You have a beautiful mark," Drake complimented after he cleaned my wound, and I smiled.
"It's given to me by my love. Of course, it will be beautiful," I said before taking the mirror from Sylvia's hand to look at my mark.
"It's beautiful, no?" Sylvia asked, but I looked at the mark on my neck, feeling weird.
The rare white wolf is mine, but why does it look like the black wolf isn't looking toward my wolf? What does this mean? I thought as I felt the same weirdness in my heart rising again.
Stop being paranoid, Kathleen. I told myself before smiling again.
"Hey, Kathleen? What are you thinking?" Drake asked me as he circled his hand around my waist, and I shook my head.
"Nothing, I just can't wait to share a room with you," I winked at him, and he chuckled awkwardly, making me squint my brows even more.
"Why? You are not excited?" I asked, and he shook his head.
"Don't think like that. Let's attend to the guests," Drake said, not giving me a direct answer, and before I could ask anything else, he left my side, making me look at his back.
"Kathleen? What are you thinking about? Let's get you in an evening gown. We need to attend the after-party. This gown is too heavy, and you need to save your energy for later, no?" Sylvia winked at me, and I slapped her shoulder, feeling shy.
"You are such a naughty girl, Sylvia," I said.
"I am naughty? Well, the marks on Drake's body tomorrow morning will tell me who is more naughty," she said, and I blushed even more.
Kathleen's POV
"Are you nervous?" Sylvia asked me again, and I glared at her.
"What? Don't give me that look. Even a nun can tell what naughty thoughts are going inside your head," Sylvia said, and I sighed.
"Sylvia Turner, if you didn't get out of your friend's room this second, then I am going to make sure you are not able to walk for a week," I heard Cody, Sylvia's mate's voice, and I looked at Sylvia, who was blushing profusely.
"You! I am sure you called him," Sylvia accused me, and I shrugged.
"Well, you didn't leave me any choice either," I said.
I sighed loudly as soon as Sophia left, and I couldn't help but notice something weird now that I was alone.
Drake didn't come with me. The whole evening, he had acted the most distant to me than our whole life.
'Hey, caris. What happened to you? You have been awfully quiet today,' I asked, but rather than her reply, I just heard her small whimper.
'At least talk to me, Caris. How am I supposed to know what is wrong when you won't speak?' I asked again, and she sighed.
'I felt something weird during the wedding, Kathleen. I can't feel his wolf anymore. I tried to look for Drake's wolf, but it felt like he wasn't there. They had blocked us,' Caris said, and I looked out of the balcony thoughtfully.
Is something really wrong with Drake and his wolf?
"Come in," I said when I heard a knock, not moving from the balcony.
I was hoping for Drake to come and hug me from behind like he always does. However, when I didn't feel his arms around me, I squinted my brows before turning around.
Seeing a girl standing in front of me, along with Drake, I sighed.
So that's the reason. He didn't want to look inappropriate in front of the stranger.
Wait. A stranger?
"Who are you? I am sure you don't work in the mansion. Even if you are new, why did you enter our room in the middle of the night? Who hired you?" I asked, confused.
"Why are you looking at him? Let me call the head maid. How can she hire someone and allow her to roam without proper instructions? It's not good for her. What if someone bullies her -"
"She is not a maid," Drake cut me off.
He didn’t look too pleasant at the moment.
What was going on here?
"If she isn't a maid, then what is she doing here? You have brought her to meet me? Is she a friend? Or distant sister?" I asked, looking between the girl and Drake.
As I took a step forward, I noticed how the girl in front of me winced slightly, and Drake held her hand, making me squint my brows.
"Why is she acting afraid of me?" I asked, looking at Drake now.
"She is not a friend, and neither a distant sister," Drake said, and I looked at the hesitancy in his eyes.
It was the same hesitancy he had shown when the priest asked to mark me and seal the bond. Why is he acting like this today, after our wedding? I thought before I tried to put two and two together. Drake was hesitant to mark me. He was hesitant when I talked about our wedding night. Then he brought a girl to our room. The girl doesn't belong to our pack and is neither a friend nor a sister.
I don't want to think of things like that. I don’t want to think negatively and ruin my mood, but why do I feel like this girl was -
"She is my mate," Drake completed my thoughts, and I looked at them in shock and horror, feeling the ground under my feet shaking as my legs trembled.
Kathleen's POV "Alvin, I really don't understand what you are talking about -" I started again."You know what? I don't care! I don't give a damn!" He growled, his grip on my hands tightening, and the music stopped as he looked at me with amber blazing eyes."Alvin, why are you creating a scene? If you are displeased about something, we can talk about it alone. You don't need to add more drama to my soap opera life. Can you just -""Well, that's even new. I am creating a scene? How dare you say that to me? Do you even know who you are talking to?" He asked me before jerking me forward towards himself, and I saw Henry coming forward, making me raise my hand in the air to stop him and let him know I would handle it myself. I didn’t want to worsen the matter more than it already was."I very well know who I am talking to. I am talking to an obnoxious Lycan King who thinks he is all and doesn't even want to listen to what I have to say. You know what? I was really hoping to amend things
Kathleen's POV"Would you like to honor me with a dance?" I heard Alvin's voice, and I looked at him with squinted brows, the emotions in his eyes telling me a different story."I am sorry. I had promised the first dance to Henry," I said.I know it was rude of me to decline his offer, but something told me that agreeing to dance with him was not a good idea, and I smiled at him before turning."Hey, Kathleen Woods. Is it true you and Alpha Blake are going to divorce?" A Luna came to me, and I looked at Alvin from the corner of my eyes, who had a slight smile on his face, making me feel guilty for some unknown reason."That's a personal matter, and I don't think I am ready to discuss it with anyone yet," I said, turning around."You must be kidding, Luna Woods. You have a good sense of humor. Almost everyone in the country has eyes on your relationship with anticipation of what will happen next," She said, and I smiled at her."Well, I didn't know my life was a soap opera to everyone
Kathleen's POV "I, Luna Kathleen Woods, hand over the responsibilities of the council chambers to the son of Christian, Henry Benjamin," I announced, and the room erupted in cheers, making me smile as I extended my hand towards Henry, who smiled helplessly."Well, though this is a very wrong sequence of events, I would still take it," Henry said before kissing the back of my hand and standing, making me squeeze my hand to say congratulations, and he smiled at me before nodding."Are we done? I am hungry," I said to Uncle Christian, and he looked at me helplessly before shaking his head."Won't you want to say something on the podium? You are the one who completed the ceremony. It's the ritual," he said, and I sighed.Standing behind the podium, I looked at everyone, my gaze sweeping through Drake and his mate for a brief second."I know I should talk about how I expect Henry to fulfill his duties and work for the welfare of the werewolf species, but I will not say anything like that.
Kathleen's POV "Hey, are you ready?" Henry asked me as soon as he entered my room, and I looked at him through the reflection of my mirror. "It's your big day. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be preparing your entrance?" I asked, and he scratched the back of his head sheepishly. “Well, I told you I wanted to go with you, didn’t I?” He said, and I hummed before smiling. It was finally the day of the ceremony, and all the alphas were here to witness Henry taking over the council. Some important Lycans have also arrived at the ceremony, which reminds me Alvin has still not spoken a word to me. He speaks to me in front of everyone, but he hasn't spoken to me about anything else regarding the matter that has become the elephant in the room. It's like he was trying to ignore me. Drake came last night with his mate, and I heard from Sylvia that they are delaying the matter of mating to another month's full moon, which is quite suspicious. Maybe they felt a little uncomfortable,
Kathleen's POVYou have a guilty conscience, but you can always make up things, right?' I told myself before turning around and looking at Alvin with a raised brow.Walking towards him with Henry, I bowed to him, making him quirk his brows, and Henry looked between us with squinted brows."King Alvin, what a pleasant surprise. I thought you would be coming the day after tomorrow," I said, and he smirked."I had thought the same too, but some urgent work brought me here. I heard a rogue pack attacked you and Alpha Ace in the forest on your way here. Are you guys alright?" He asked, and I nodded."Yes. We are fine. We were lucky," I said, and he nodded, making me nod as I passed by him before heaving a sigh of relief."Woah. What was that?" Henry asked me as he walked behind me, and I squinted my brows."What do you mean?" I asked, and he chuckled."Come on, do you think I am a fool? There's something fishy here," Henry said, and I scoffed."I felt it too," Alpha Ace said from behind me
Kathleen's POV"What do you think of my skills? Am I excelling?" I winked at Henry, who shook his head before nodding with a smile."You don't leave any chance of showing off, do you? Everyone here knows how wonderful Violet is. And she loves you to bits. You are just taking advantage of your good cards. And Violet is surely your ace card in horse riding," Henry said, and I smirked."And, did I stop you from doing it? You can use your cards too," I said as I patted Violet's hair before combing them with my hand, making her neigh."She is such a good girl. Animals are indeed more loyal than humans," I said, and Henry looked at me with a little awkward smile."You realize this metaphor doesn't fit here since we guys have both human and animal counterparts, right?" Henry said, and I nodded."Well, technically you are right, so I am not going to say anything about it. How about we have another round? You in, Alpha Ace?" I asked, looking at the poor guy, vomiting his guts out. What happene
