Chapter 14 - Proposition

Carson POV

I heard Marly’s door slam and sat up in bed pulling on my gym shorts. Had she stormed out of her room? Was she not tired after the trip and the day she had? I opened my door but saw nothing so perhaps she had simply gone back to her room. I started to close the door when I heard voices coming from across the hall.

I walked over and stood for a moment. She knew nobody so it would make no sense that she would have anybody visit with her. I was just about to knock when I heard something hit the wall hard. I pounded on the door, “Marly?” I shouted, trying to listen for her reply.

There was nothing. I started slamming my body against the door, cursing the strength of our buildings to withstand an attack. I heard more crashing inside the room and knew I needed to get in there. I raised my foot and slammed it into the door handle. The wood splintered and the door flew open. I was able to enter the room.
