I glance around the restaurant, but I still don’t see any sign of Jimmy. Where is he? A soft pat on my arm pulls my attention back to the table and my mate, along with his friends Tommy, Dee, and Shane. Finn leans towards me and whispers, “Are you still looking for Jimmy?” I slowly nod my head. “Yeah.” As I scan the restaurant again, from across the table, Dee sighs, “I think we can safely say that Jimmy isn’t coming. We can meet him another day. Don’t worry about it. I know you really want us to meet him now, but remember we are here to celebrate the fact that not only did you and Finn find each other, but Shane has been selected to be Alpha Mike’s beta. The added benefit is that Shane’s family now belongs to a pack and aren’t considered rogues anymore.” She turns towards to her side and tenderly smiles at Shane. He smiles back at her before he turns his attention back towards us. “Not only that, but we have had to wait a while to even celebrate. I won’t let the fact t
I glance towards the bar’s entrance while my fingers tap against the table. Luckily, the bar is almost completely empty tonight. I don’t know how I would handle it if people were swarming everywhere. Sigh. Why does Owen even want to talk to me? Granted, I haven’t really given him much time to say anything to me recently, but my world has kind of turned completely upside down. Honestly, I really could use my friend’s help right now, but I don’t want to put a damper on his happiness either. He just found his mate, while I have turned my life into a complete shit show. Well, that is the easiest way to describe it. Not only have I been kicked off Alpha Mike’s beta candidate list, but I have also been kicked out of my pack with no contact from my friends and family. What else would you call it? I think a shit show is about right. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. My fingers continue to drum against the table as I glance at my watch again. He has another 5 minutes, and if he isn’t
As I sit on my bed and stare out the window, I continue to replay everything Owen and Finn have talked to me about tonight. I haven’t really had much time to think of what I was going to do next, and honestly, I have no idea either. One thing is for sure, though, I know I don’t want to be a rogue. But do I really have another option besides my friend’s new pack? I’m still really surprised Finn didn’t join our pack. No. Scratch that. I should say my old pack. It is tradition in the werewolf community the mate of an alpha joins the alpha’s pack. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of the alpha joining the omega’s pack. From what little they told me, I get the impression Finn’s pack is a little different and unique. I look up at the dark sky through the window. However, I can’t see anything. Just like my future, I can’t see anything. Not even one small glimmer of light. My mind suddenly flashes back several years ago, when Owen and I were sitting in my bedroom, hang
I can’t believe it. Well, that isn’t completely true. The Supreme Elder, along with the other elders, have warned us that both Max and Trey will possess great powers, but I didn’t think the kids would possess this kind of power. While scowling, I slightly raise an eyebrow and glare at my son. “Have I not told you that you can’t just use your powers like that? You know the issues and possible consequences it could bring, but you went ahead and mind linked with Jimmy. Do you even realize what it took to get Jimmy to even agree to join our pack? Do you!”Tap. Tap. Tap.I continue to tap my foot while I cross my arms over my chest and scowl. Ugh… What are we going to do with him?Trey clutches Max’s hand and while his friend’s head is slightly lowered, Trey whispers, “Maxxie. Stop. Be good. No hurt.”Max doesn’t break eye contact with me and continues to defiantly stare back at me. He may be a toddler, but he has the courage of a grown man. I don’t know if I should be proud o
I glance across the room at Jimmy as I continue to place a few more of his things in a partially empty box on top of the desk. I’m surprised he has decided to live at Sun Moon’s pack house. He still hasn’t seen the pack lands or the pack house yet, but Alpha Wyatt has set his ceremony for this weekend. Once he completes it, he will officially be a part of Sun Moon pack. Besides the ceremony, he will begin his studies with the elders right away. The ceremony is going to be held in the morning, and in the afternoon, he will have his first meeting with the elders and begin his formal training with them. Luckily, Jimmy won’t be alone. I’ll also be in the lessons too.The lessons are nothing like what he has had before. If it wasn’t for Finn along with Alpha Wyatt and Luna Kane, I probably would have gone crazy. The sessions are intense, to say the least. Plus, we are trying to work with something we have never had before. Powers. Shoot. I have gone through several so far, and
Something is up. I know it. I haven’t been around Finn all my life, but I have been constantly at his side for several years now. I know him just as well as he knows me, and I can definitely see something fishy is going on. Just like right now. Finn and Owen are walking ahead of me towards the cafeteria, but they keep looking at each other and then back at me. I know they are mind linking with each other so I can’t hear, but why? Did something happen that I don’t know about? If not, and they were trying to be secret agents and spy on someone, they are failing miserably. Ugh… Why don’t they just tell me what is going on? I’m sure I can handle whatever it is.My thoughts are suddenly interrupted when the faint smell of burned eggs fills my nose. I tilt my head and take a deep breath. Yep. Burned eggs. What the heck?My wolf snorts and sticks her nose up in the air, while a look of disgust swirls in his eyes. Irritated, I ignore him.I hope the smell isn’t coming from som
I glance at my watch and then back to the classroom door. What is taking Owen so long? He usually doesn’t take this long to get back from having lunch with Finn and his friends. If he doesn’t hurry, he is going to be late and the professor will start our class without him. I take another look at the classroom door, and I suddenly breathe a sigh of relief. Owen rushes through the doorway and dashes to the seat beside me. With a slight frown, he tosses his bag on the table in front of him and plops down in the chair. He lets out a long sigh. “Wow. That was close.”As my mind wonders what took him so long, I nod. “Yeah. Almost too close.”He takes his things out of bag and with a ragged breath, he mumbles, “I wouldn’t have taken so long if Finn’s friend, Tommy, didn’t have us looking for some burned eggs. I still don’t have any clue why he kept smelling it, but he was worried someone left something on and it would catch fire. So, we were helping him try to locate where the s
My heart races as I bolt through the forest. The earth under my paws feels good. I really needed this. I can’t even remember the last time I’ve been able to let my wolf out and really run. The timber area around the university is so small, and I was always afraid someone would see me. I would only get enough courage to go out and run in my wolf form a few times. I dash around a tree and duck under a branch before I jump over some small rocks. The cool evening air brushes through my fur and nips at my nose. For the first time in months, my mind is blank and I’m at ease. I don’t have to worry about not letting my wolf out and run anymore. Plus, there is so much land to run around. No one is ever going to find us here. With no worries on my mind, I let myself go as I push my paws harder against the ground and catapult myself up the side of a hill. Ah. This is the best. This is exactly what I need to help clear my mind. My mind was spinning in multiple directions earlier.
