CHAPTER FOURTEEN 

LUNA POV 

It's like I've been stabbed in the back. Kieran, of all people, is the one who tried to kill me. This is painful, and I now believe that it's not the stab in the back that kills, but when you turn around to see who's holding the knife. I know something was definitely wrong as at when I regained consciousness and discovered that Kieran was the one who'd saved me. Was that his plan? To make me feel like he truly cares for me? Or maybe he did all that so I'd fall for him. But even now, Kieran hasn't told me he has feelings for me. What does he really want from me? I know his plan isn't good because if he truly loves me, he wouldn't have thought of hurting me as a way to make me fall for him. Something's definitely wrong here.

I didn't want any more explanations from him, as he's obviously going to tell me another lie. I screamed at him, and he walked out of the room. I don't want to ever see his face again. He's nothing but a betrayer. Now I know he got what he deserved by being banished. He claimed he was innocent of the accusation – I thought so too, but now I know he was lying. With what he did to me last night, I believe he's indeed not innocent.

I sat upright in bed when Victor came in with a bouquet of beautiful flowers. He reminds me a lot of Raven. I love flowers, and whenever Raven wanted to surprise me, it was always with flowers. Anytime he got on my nerves, he'd buy flowers. Seeing Victor with these flowers is bringing back a lot of memories about my late mate.

"Hi, are you okay?" he asked me tenderly. 

"I'm fine," I said. Then he handed the flowers to me, "Have them," he said with a smirk. 

"You bought them for me?" I asked, amazed. 

"Everything's good for you," he said.

I collected the flowers and dropped them beside the bed. 

''So, did my cousin tell you anything?'' he asked me. 

"Which one?'" I asked him. 

"Liam," he said. 

"Yeah, he told me something,'' I admitted. 

Liam had told me about the plan to get married to Victor to strengthen the bloodline, and I knew that's why he was asking. 

''He gave me your reply anyway, but I just wanted to be sure,'' he said. 

''Okay,'' I said.

''What about we discuss the plans for the wedding?'' he asked me. 

There's nothing wrong with discussing the wedding, but I felt like I needed more time. I no longer had fears about the idea since I knew the only enemy I had now was Kieran, I just needed to try my best to avoid him.

"Did Liam tell you that the wedding would be held by tomorrow?'' he asked me. 

Had Alpha Liam gone ahead with the plans for the wedding? The last time I checked, I hadn't accepted that the wedding should be held. 

''But I asked Liam not to go on with the wedding. Initially, he told me about it last night that it would be held in two days' time, but I didn't accept," I told him.

Then he sat down beside me on the bed and held my right hand. 

"Tell me, Luna, don't you love me?" he asked me. 

This was the last question I was expecting. I couldn't say I loved him, nor could I say I hated him. I didn't even know if I had feelings for him, and that's why I needed some time.

"Victor, it's not about me loving you or not. We need to get to know each other better," I told him. 

"But we already do," he said. 

"We know each other very well, don't we?" 

"It's not that kind of knowing," I explained. "For now, we know ourselves as friends, but marriage is more than that."

"True relationships begin with friendship," he said. 

"We're friends already, and living together as a couple isn't going to be a problem." 

"I'm not saying that it would be a problem, but just listen to me," I insisted. 

"Does this have to do with Kieran?" he asked me. 

"I don't want to ever talk about Kieran," I told him.

" Alright if you insist, by the time you get well, we can talk about the plans for the wedding. Whenever you want it to hold, it's okay by me." He told me with an assuring smile on his face.

" Thanks," I said and after spending some time with me, he left the infirmary.

I knew I was supposed to spend more time in the infirmary, but right now, I didn't think I wanted to be here. There were obviously a lot of things to discuss with Victor, and I needed to. 

I came out of the infirmary and walked out. A few minutes later, I met a maid holding a tray of food in her hand and then, I demanded, "Where's Victor? Has he left?" 

"No, I overheard him telling Alpha Liam that he would spend the night here," she said. 

Oh, thank goodness he hadn't left. We could discuss everything tonight, and I'd be left to decide whether to continue with the wedding tomorrow or not.

"Where is he?" I demanded. 

"In the same room you were in last night before you left," she said. 

"Okay," I said and was about walking out when she said.

"Ma'am, here's your food."

"I'm not hungry.." I said and headed straight to the room. 

Immediately I came to the door, I had wanted to knock, but I decided not to. We'd be getting married soon, and me entering the room shouldn't be a problem. I opened the door and found him facing the mirror, his back to me. He wasn't wearing a shirt, and something caught my attention. There were a lot of fresh wounds that looked like pierce marks. 

What had happened to him?
