A knock came from the door.

“Isa! The lycans are waiting for Regina. Hurry!”

Regina raised a brow at me. And I just froze there momentarily.

“Go. Or I’ll have you locked up in your room for weeks for disobeying me—If the lycans don’t kill you first.”

I immediately turned around and started marching towards the door. More terrified at the thought of facing the lycan prince who was promised to marry the daughter of the Alpha of Lunar Pack who already agreed to their pact.

She’s crazy. Regina has always been crazy. But retracting her words back from the lycans is far beyond her crazed mind. Doing this is basically suicide.

“Where is Regina? The prince is waiting for the ceremony to start!” Alpha Hans barked as soon as he saw me.

“S-She’s not coming, Alpha.”

”What?!” I closed my eyes in fear of his outburst. “That girl! She already agreed with me on this! Why does she not want to continue?”

”She… she wants to be mated with Clyde, Alpha.” I looked down, pain striking at the rejection I just got.

“The Beta’s son?” I nodded. “Hmm. He will make a fine Alpha someday.” Lydia whimpered at the approval of our alpha for my mate’s chosen union.

“But we have to continue with the marriage or the lycans will not honor our pact and declare war on us!”

My eyes widened. “W-we will be defeated, Alpha.”

”Their forces are far too strong and too many for us to win. Even without their numbers, they have the strongest soldiers. Even the lycan prince can take more than half of us alone.”

Fear crept inside me at the mention of the infamous Alpha.

He is to precede his father who was only going to step down on his throne as lycan king once his son gets married. They have been conquering lands, and to prevent being slayed and taken over, Alpha Hans traded a bride for a pact of peace among us.

But Regina is about to ruin that now.

“The wedding must continue. I just need a replacement for Regina.”

Alpha Hans started looking around, as if searching for the replacement bride. I also started thinking about the unmated female elites in our pack. Maybe Freya will do? She’s the daughter of our pack healer.

”Alpha, how about—“ I stopped talking when I saw how Alpha Hans started looking at me up and down. I felt conscious all of a sudden.

”Hmm. I do not want my daughter to be married to an ugly, basically disabled Alpha, anyway. You will do.”

I gasped as he grabbed me by the arm.

“A-Alpha, wait…”

”You are marrying the lycan prince, Isabella. That’s more than what you deserve for such a weakling as you are. Just think of it as helping our pack. At least you’ve managed to finally have a good purpose in your life.”

Hurt and humiliation covered me as he opened the doors to where the wedding will be held.

Tall men occupied the first rows of the hall, while the other side was occupied by the Council of Lunar Pack.

I wanted to run away in fear. Not one of us does not know who the lycan prince was.

He is known to be savage, cruel and kills anyone who gets in his way. He was said to be even more powerful than his father who was deemed to be the wisest lycan king who ever ruled.

Not only was his character’s reputation repulsive, but also his physical appearance. He has seen so many battles that scars wrapped around his face, basically deforming him. They said he also had a leg amputated after a bloody fight. But due to how strong his wolf was, he managed to grow back his bones, but he would still limp.

I don’t know if I could survive being married to a person like him. I might as well be locked up in my room for all eternity.

“Ladies and gentlemen! There is nothing to worry about as our bride has arrived.”

I froze as all attention went to us. The murmurs of concern stopped and the tall men in front watched.

One of them suddenly walked towards us, and I was frozen on my feet for a very different reason this time.

He had the most beautiful hazel eyes I’ve ever seen. The blue, green and brown were fighting dominance in his orbs. His features were so sharp, his hair so dark and his jaw perfectly framed his entire face in a masculine way.

He’s the most physically perfect man I’ve ever seen.

”Where is your daughter, Alpha Hans?” he asked. His voice had a commanding tone to it and I shivered.

He must be the lycan prince’s right hand for him to have such presence.

“I’m afraid she has found her mate. But I have here an available female that could replace her as the bride. She might not be much but she is still useful.”

My cheeks burned in humiliation when I saw the disapproval in most of the people’s looks.

“The pact states that you will have your daughter as the prince’s bride—“ a blonde lycan protested, but the perfect man’s right hand raised to shut him up.

”No, we will take her.” A shiver once again ran right through me when our eyes met. He looked at me so intensely I could barely feel my face. He’s so tall.

“Right! Where is the lycan prince? I assume he has waited long enough to proceed with the wedding. Where is he? So we can start.”

Alpha Hans grinned, sounding so relieved and happy. But I was a nervous wreck. How did I even get here?

”Do you want to marry the lycan prince?” The man suddenly asked me, making everyone shut up.

”I-I…” I stuttered, assaulted by how handsome he was and by the question.

I don’t know.

”Do you want to marry me?” My eyes widened.

“Y-You’re the lycan prince?” I stupidly pointed at his face.

He nodded, making everyone else gasp. Nobody expected this physically perfect man to be the infamous deformed lycan prince. The rumors said he looked beastly!

”Yes, she will marry you, Your Grace.” I gasped in pain when Alpha Hans recovered from his shock, gripping tighter on my arm. There was now a nervous smile on his face.

”She will be more than glad—“

”I am not talking to you, Hans. I am asking your subordinate.” He cut in gritted teeth. Alpha Hans shut up.

“Answer me, Miss. Do you want to marry me?”

Before I could answer, the door to the hall opened and there suddenly came Regina and Clyde who both looked shocked.

I looked back at the lycan prince, feeling hurt all over again upon seeing Clyde. I didn’t even have the time to mourn for our broken bond. I was forced to be doing this. But do I even fully hate it? According to the rumors, he was a hateful man. He destroyed villages and taken over lands that he wanted to conquer for power.

Do I want to marry someone like him?

”Bella,” Clyde suddenly called, making me look at him. But as I did, I immediately thought how painful it would be to see my mate, the only person I ever loved in this place, be married and have a family with the person who hurt me and treated me like trash my entire life.

And I knew what my answer was.

I looked back at the lycan prince and saw him already raising a hand towards my direction.

“Yes, I want to marry you, Alpha Logan.” Something flashed in those striking hazel eyes when I mentioned his name.

ISABELLA“Who told you to come to my office?” He bellowed, his deep voice echoing around the hallway. But I just cried.“You can’t cry about this! This marriage is just on paper! You knew very well that this is just an arrangement!””I-I know… I know… b-but I just thought…””What?!”I flinched, fearing the way he was bursting out in anger in front of me. There was nothing gentle in those eyes anymore. All in there were those familiar disgust and hatred I’ve always received since I was in Lunar Pack. How did I even get the delusion that this time will be different?”That we will have a proper relationship? Wake up, Isabella! I can’t form a relationship with you!”Tears

ISABELLABut why would he?Did something come up? Did I do something wrong? What happened that changed his mind?I could only think of the very few moments we were together. And yet all I could remember was his possessiveness when he saw me looking at Clyde. How he protected me from Regina. How he asked me first whether I wanted to marry him, basically giving me the freedom to decide despite Alpha Hans commanding me to do it. How warm he was around me, and how he kissed my head gently, as if in comfort when he thought I couldn’t sleep. He was nothing like the stories I’ve heard about him. Sure, there was some sort of coldness and stoic presence around him, but he was not heartless nor ruthless. He was gentle and comforting.Being with me almost felt natural for him. And that feeling transcended to me, which made me

ISABELLA“Have you seen Blake?” Lianne asked when the Beta just suddenly vanished after the beer pong competition we won.The three of us are now sitting on one of the tables set inside the wide forest clearing. It amazed me how they turned this forest clearing into a great place like this. Fairy lights were hung around the trees and on top of our heads as if there was a roof above us. The bright moon and the stars were also helping with the nice ambiance along with the nearby campfire.Music was blaring, people were dancing, playing and chatting. Everything just seems so enjoyable, but I couldn’t seem to fully have fun with it. My mind is still elsewhere.”Have you seen Blake?” Lianne repeated when Kyla and I didn’t speak. I looked at her and saw her eyes wandering around the place.”H

ISABELLA“What a bummer! We didn’t even have our turn to touch the Staff!” Lianne exclaimed as we walked in the grounds after we were dismissed. It turned out that half of the trainees had the same plan as us: to wait until later to get our own time with the Staff. But until Officer Kent announced that they would soon close the Weaponry, the other trainees started crowding the Staff again. Officer Kent had to break the crowd off and dismiss us earlier than intended because of the chaos that was starting.“Yeah, but we’ll get to it next time. Maybe we can trick Blake into letting us in sometime.” The girls giggled at their idea as I just smiled at them. The call never stopped while we stayed there. I decided not to bother myself with it, but it just became clearer and clearer. It was disorienting me in a way, as I felt some sort of en

ISABELLA”Were you talking to Gracie and Shanine?”Kyla asked as soon as I approached them. I nodded, realizing the other girl’s name was Shanine.“Yeah, we accidentally bumped into each other.” I decided not to give out all the details.Kyla nodded but still followed the smaller figures of the two who were walking away from the grounds. We saw them get inside the small breakfast shop just right around the pack cafeteria.“Did they do anything to you?” I shook my head.“You sure? Those girls are up to no good.” I just shook my head again and smiled at them.“Yeah. Come on, I’m excited for today.” As if on instinct, Lianne and Kyla grabbed each of my arms and encircled theirs with mine.I smiled to

ISABELLAThat didn’t happen. The entire day, Logan was busy. Until the next day, and the next and the next.I hadn’t even noticed as a week flew by, and I’ve never seen him again.“He’s still out of the pack.”I flinched and looked at Blake who suddenly came inside the kitchen. He was holding a mug, the aroma of his coffee filled the air.“I-I wasn’t asking.” I faced my breakfast again and started eating, even when I didn’t have much of an appetite.Blake chuckled and took a seat beside me.”He gave me orders to stay and lead the pack as of now that he’s away. He’s finishing up the alliances we’ve made all throughout the year. But he’ll be back before you know it.””

ISABELLA“This is your room.”I looked at the bright room that had white and baby blue curtains inside. There was also a balcony that faced the thick and large trees of the pack.I smiled to myself when I could see the top of the heads of the lycan and werewolf statute from the town square.”Thank you. This is beautiful.”Blake chuckled. “It’s great that you like it.”I nodded. “Thanks again.”Blake suddenly tapped my head. “You enjoy yourself. Don’t let anything else bother you, alright? You’re one of us now.”I just nodded, knowing he saw how bothered I got the moment we were alone outside the king’s office.I just couldn’t help feeling little once again. I just knew

LOGAN“You did not Mark her.””Why should I?”Father stared at me for a while, his dark gazes trying to read me.I clenched my fists, displaying nothing but stoic emotions in my face.He sighed and stood up from his seat. He started picking a book among his hundreds of shelves. He wasn’t much of a reader, nor was this his office. It was Mother’s. He just liked staying here since we lost her. He even became a reader because of it.”The agreement was you having a wife before becoming king—“”And I have that now.” He shook his head and closed the book he was holding.“That is no wife, Logan. That is a servant, urged to marry someone she barely knew. She was commanded to follow her mas

ISABELLAI slid inside the car when Alpha Logan opened the door for me.I watched him, but a firm line was on his lips. What happened?“Good morning, Isa. I hope you had a great sleep.”My attention snapped towards Blake and saw him smiling brightly. His cheery demeanor is the total opposite of the latter. It made me smile back at him. “Good morning, Beta Blake—“”Nu-uh,” he raised a finger. “If I get to call you Isa, you have to call me Blake. Just Blake.”I nodded slowly, making him smile once again. “Okay, Blake.”He grinned. ”You’re cute.”I blushed.“Drive.”B
