Anastasia's POV

The morning air was cool and quiet. Sunlight filled the garden, and the leaves moved gently in the breeze. I sat with my brothers, Gerard and Christopher, on the cushioned patio chairs spread around the small garden table. Phoenix lounged across two chairs, sipping a tall glass of iced tea. She wore a loose shirt, ripped jeans, and a wide grin.

I exhaled softly. It had been three days since that ugly confrontation with Zarina at the park. Three days of trying to keep moving, pretending things were fine even when I woke up some mornings feeling like I couldn’t breathe.

When Phoenix had first barged into my house, suitcase dragging behind her and rainbow hair gleaming under the sun, I genuinely thought I was dreaming.

"I just landed, baby girl," she had announced proudly, tossing her jacket onto my sofa like it lived there. "Miss me?"

I had blinked at her, still half in shock. The day after that, I finally called my brothers. I couldn’t keep avoiding them. They had been

Christopher, the serious one. He had always been the one who weighed every decision carefully, who never raised his voice unless he absolutely had to. But today, sitting there with the people who knew him best, the polished mask he usually wore around the business world had slipped slightly. His true character was showing in full color.I thought back to the phone calls over the past few days — all those rushed, half-panicked messages Christopher had sent me when I wasn’t answering, the late-night calls I barely had the heart to pick up.Christopher had been the one to say it plainly over the phone.“Ana... it’s Gerard. You know he’s not good with words. He’s worried about you too. We both are.”There had been an honesty in his voice that night that surprised me. And when I’d finally explained things about what happened when mom died over the phone, stammering through truths and not avoiding the worst parts, Christopher had simply listened — no judgment, no anger, just pure apology fr

Morgan stood there for a moment, the basket of fruit still tucked neatly under one arm. He shifted slightly, clearing his throat before setting the basket down carefully on a side table."I didn’t expect you today, Atty. Morgan," I said, gesturing lightly toward the basket. "Is that... for me?"He gave a small, almost bashful smile, his gaze softening as he glanced at it."Yes," he said simply. “My wife used to eat these. A lot. When she was pregnant."I blinked at him, a little caught off guard. Of all the things I thought he might bring today, a basket of fruits wasn't one of them."She said they helped with... everything. Nausea, heartburn, even bad days. She swore by them. So, I thought — maybe... you’d like some too.""Thank you,"I cleared it quickly, forcing myself to sit down at my desk, placing my hands on the smooth wood like. Morgan sat down across from me, adjusting his jacket, his movements precise but hesitant."So," I said after a breath, offering a lighter smile I did

  • The Unwanted Wife   Chapter 152: I Hated This Driveway......

Regan’s POVI hated this driveway. It was too long. Too quiet. The kind of silence that crept under your skin and stayed there long after the car rolled to a stop — like a weight pressing against your chest.I sat in the driver’s seat, staring through the windshield. One hand gripped the steering wheel, knuckles pale. The other clutched a bottle of scotch, half-empty and sweating against my palm. I didn’t remember when I started drinking it. Probably after the second meeting. Or the fifth. Maybe somewhere between the notification about Zarina’s next doctor appointment and the message from my father asking why I wasn’t at home. Not this home. The other one. The penthouse. The one where everything felt wrong.I wasn’t supposed to be here tonight. Wasn’t supposed to come back at all. This house had become a graveyard.I wasn’t supposed to be here. Not tonight. Not ever again, maybe. But I couldn’t stop coming back.

I leaned back, taking a long sip before answering, “And?”Richard’s jaw clenched. His fists curled slightly at his sides. “I’m asking you—no, I’m telling you—to reconsider.”I shakes my hand, “No, I made my mind—”“You care to explain why?” my father demanded, his voice cutting through the room like a blade.I exhaled slowly. “Because it’s time.”“Time?” His voice sharpened with disbelief. “What the fuck are you saying? Is there a scheduled deadline for a divorce now? You married her, Regan.”“I did,” I said flatly. “I fucking did”“You made vows—”“And I broke them,” I snapped, the words harsher than I meant. “What do you want me to say, Dad? That I’m a villain? That I’m a selfish bastard who threw away a good woman for reasons I can’t even explain?”Silence followed. He stared at me — hard. Disgust and disappointment twisted in the crease of his brow. “I want you to tell me the truth, Regan, why ar

I had no response. My mouth stayed shut, my fists clenched at my sides.Because I came back here — to this mansion— night after night not because I was guilty. Not even because I missed the routine. I came back because I couldn’t breathe anywhere else. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t function. Every time I walked into the penthouse with Zarina waiting for me —her smile sweet, her arms reaching — all I could think about was Anastasia.I could picture her face even when my eyes were closed. Every line, every curve, every look she ever gave me — I could draw them all.God, I can’t even count how many times I stared at my phone, thumb hovering over her name. Wanting to call. Needing to call.Just to hear her voice.Even once.I told myself I loved Zarina.I should have loved her.I owed her this child, didn’t I? I owed her a future. I told myself that making Anastasia hate me would make it easier for her to

A mountain of presents, wrapped in shiny paper and tied with extravagant bows, threatened to topple over on the far side of the room. On the mahogany table, a sea of cards gleamed under the soft light. I picked one up, its edges embossed with a delicate silver pattern. The familiar, pointed handwriting of Vivienne, one of Regan's business associates' wives made me almost sigh in dismay."Dearest Anastasia," the card gushed, the words shimmering with fake sincerity. "Happy Birthday! Wishing you all the joy and fortune you deserve. Perhaps we can schedule that charity luncheon we discussed? Regan mentioned such a wonderful idea..." The card fluttered from my grasp, landing face down on the floor. Charity. Luncheon. Always something they wanted. “As expected,” I muttered. The silence swallows the room, the only sound is the relentless ticking of the clock. My fingertips painted a crimson danced a nervous rhythm around the stem of my wine glass. The heavy damask drapes, a deep sha

With shaky steps, I left the dining room behind, my wine glass clutched tightly in my hand. The familiar path to the piano room seemed longer tonight. As I pushed open the door, the soft glow of moonlight illuminated the grand piano sitting majestically in the center of the room. With a heavy heart, I crossed the threshold, the cool air of the room wrapping around me.Sinking onto the chair in front of the piano, I reached out to press a key, but my trembling fingers betrayed me. Tears blurred my vision as I wiped them away, the ache in my heart threatening to consume me once again.I was once a pianist prodigy but after witnessing my mother die in front of me, in my piano room, I cannot press a key ever since. I can clearly remember that day like it happened yesterday. It was raining so hard and my mother jumped on the balcony just the time a clash of thunder echoed in the room.“Why would you even do that, Mom?” I raised the glass to my lips and drank deeply, the warmth of the wine

  • The Unwanted Wife   Chapter 3: Here Comes The Stepmother

As I made my way to the kitchen, I tried to push aside the lingering sense of hurt and betrayal that lingered in the back of my mind. With weak hands, I set about preparing the table for breakfast.Susan approached me with a concerned expression etched on her face. "Miss, you should really rest. You've looked not okay.”I offered her a weak smile as I focused on the breakfast table, "I am fine, Susan.”When I heard Regan's footsteps descending the stairs, I plastered on a cheerful smile. "Good morning. I've made breakfast. Won't you join me?"But he merely stared at the spread before him, his expression unreadable as he brushed past me without a word."Not hungry," he muttered, his tone dismissive as he made his way towards the door.Desperate to reach him, I seized the coffee pot and held it out to him. "Please, just take a sip,"But before I could react, his hand collided with the coffee pot, sending scalding liquid splashing towards me. I cried out in pain as the hot liquid seared

  • The Unwanted Wife   Chapter 148: Phoenix

A few feet away, a guy swung off a gorgeous black and chrome motorcycle, pulling off his helmet in one smooth, practiced motion. He shook out messy, dark hair that flopped slightly over his forehead, then casually tapped at his phone, probably answering some boring business call.He was tall, lean but broad-shouldered, dressed in a fitted white shirt and dark jeans, a silver chain hanging loosely around his neck. He looked effortless—expensive without even trying. His boots were clean but worn, like he actually used them, and his watch probably cost more than most people’s rent.Definitely rich. Definitely reckless enough to park a beauty like that out here.As I crept closer, pretending to scroll on my phone, I caught him speaking into his call."Yeah, it's Alex Wright. I'll be there in five."Alex Wright.Cute name for a cute face.Too bad for him.I sauntered right up to him, still casually puffing on the cigarette

Phoenix’s POV(New Character Unlocked!)The airport was a blur behind me, nothing but noise, dragging suitcases, and a few too many side-eyes at my rainbow hair. I couldn't care less. Let them stare. I'd dye it neon green next time, just to spite them.Phoenix Alvira Saavedra.Protector of blood.I had barely tossed my designer duffel into the passenger seat of my sleek black Porsche 911 Turbo S before I was tearing out of the airport driveway, engine roaring like a beast that couldn’t be tamed. No text, no warning. Surprise was half the funWhen I pulled up to the driveway, though, her house was too still, too quiet. Just her maids fluttering nervously at the front door like they were waiting for a bomb to drop."Miss Anastasia is at the park, ma’am," one of them chirped, her voice way too high, her eyes flickering nervously toward my boots and leather jacket.

The gravel crunched beneath our shoes as we followed the winding path deeper into the trees. I tucked my hands into the pockets of my sweater, breathing in the cold, crisp air that somehow still wasn’t enough to clear the fog inside my head.We were still walking quietly when, out of nowhere, a sharp, familiar voice cut through the heavy air.I turned my head and there she was—Zarina.I felt Ava stiffen beside me immediately, ready for whatever was about to happen. Thankfully, the park had already begun to empty. The sun was sinking, and there were no curious bystanders.Zarina's steps were quick and sharp, her heels clicking with every furious stride until she stood a few feet away. Her doe-like eyes pinned me like a dagger, full of rage."You really have some nerve," Zarina hissed. She stepped forward, hand twitching at her side, and for a split second, I saw her hand lift—as if she were seriously considering slapping me.But Ava was faste
