"You sure you're okay wearing that?" William asked Brieanna for the 8th time now.
Brieanna rolled her eyes as she closes the car door. "I told you it's fine. You helped me too much."
"You help me more," William uttered and started to drive away.
Brieanna doesn't know how to act around him anymore. She's quiet shy that she's indebted to him. At some point, she thinks they were destined to meet. How does a stranger save her like they already knew each other?
"Do you surf?" He asked all a sudden that snapped Brie from thinking.
"Hmm...no, I don't really."
"Well, know how to?" He asked again.
"Uh... no."
William flashed a smile. Well then, maybe he can teach her how to. Maybe by then she'll figure out that there's so much in life that-
He stopped as soon as he realized how he sounded like. He can't even find life as that great. Even though he has everything he could ever need he still sees life as boring and evil yet... he's telling her that there's so much in life that she needs to experience?
Who am I kidding? William thought to himself.
They arrived at the market and the townspeople are very busy. Well, there are many tourists and surfers so it can't be helped. In this island, people always come and go.
"Do you think they won't notice that I'm not wearing anything under this shirt?" Brieanna asked looking down to her chest.
"They're not big so don't worry," William replied as he get out of the car.
Brieanna gasped in disbelief that William just said that! She then scorned as she opens the door and went out too.
William stood in front of Brieanna and then whispered to her ear, "Don't worry they're just fine."
After doing that he walked ahead with a grin on his face. Brieanna scoffed again, releasing a short gasp. She then stomped as she walk to catch up to him.
"So uhm what are we going to buy?" Brieanna asked.
William didn't answer, they just head inside a shop who sells clothes and accessories. He wanted to buy her new clothes that she can wear.
"Buy you clothes," he finally replied when they were inside already.
"Uhm you realize, I don't have-"
"I know. Pick anything you like but if you like wearing my clothes, it ain't a problem for me too," he said cutting her off.
"Tch! Listen, if I get back, I'm gonna work and then pay you. I'm going to list everything and pay you someday," she told him.
William smiled on her determination to do so but he doesn't want her to pay him.
"Do what you want to do. Now, get the clothes you need," he told her.
Brieanna looked around then looked at the price tags. It's so damn expensive she thought. She wonders if there are some place that has "ukay ukay" (a store that sells second hand apparels).
"Are there any ukay ukay store here?" Brieanna asked William.
"Uh... why?"
Brieanna moved closer to William. "The prices are too much," she whispered.
That made William lightly chuckle. This girl is really one of a kind, he thought to himself.
"I don't really know but we're in a hurry so I suggest you just pick whatever you want there," he answered.
Brieanna pouted as she head back slouching and stomping her way to the underwear section. She chose the cheapest ones possible. She took a set of seven panties, two laced and and two sports bras. Then she took two shirts and two shorts.
"Why didn't you take a dress?" William asked as the saleslady was scanning the items.
"Because I do not like to wear dresses," Brieanna simply answered.
"Then why did you wear one?" He asked again, referring to when she wore the white cocktail dress.
"It was supposed to be my funeral but then you... yeah."
William seemed to have sensed something different about that answer. He knows she likes dresses as much as she likes wearing shorts and oversized shirts. So, he hold on to her hand and pulled her to the variety of dresses.
"Will! I don't like-"
William threw her a shut-up look and she did shut up. He took a blue dress with some flower design all around the waistline.
"Put this on," he said, handing her the dress.
Brieanna made a whining face as she took it and went inside the fitting room. She put the dress on and looked at herself in the mirror. She sighed as she missed looking at herself with a dress in the mirror.
"If it fits then take it off and let's not keep the lady in the counter waiting." She heard William say.
She took it off then folded it. "It doesn't fit me."
William look at the expression on her face. He knows what that meant. He took the dress and drag her to the counter.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. Please include this and these," he said.
Brieanna was shock to see a two pair of pajamas. Oh yes, she forgot about pajamas.
The lady packed it up and and William paid for it. She was about to take the bag when Will took her hand first. He hold her hand and with his other hand he took the paper bag.
They went back to the car and he put the bag inside. "Stay here, I'm going to get us food."
Brieanna nodded and so William went to get food.
After a while she got bored and so she decided to go out of the car. She went to a stall which was few steps away from the car, it was selling different fruits. She took an apple and smell it.
The apple in her hand is just the right one for her. Her mother used to tell her how to pick the right fruits.
"Hey! New here?" A feminine voice asked.
Brieanna turned to her right and saw a lady; a beautiful one. "If four days ago is new then yeah," she answered.
"Hmm... a new girl William brought here, huh?" The stranger asked.
Brieanna frowned hearing that. "Excuse me?"
"I'm Dianne, I'm a surfer. I'm a friend of Will," Dianne introduced herself. "I wanted to chitchat more but I have training. Say hi to him for me."
After saying that, Dianne went running to wherever she was heading. That was weird, Brie thought. She put down the apple while she looks at Dianne fading out of her sight. "What did that girl meant," she murmured to herself.
"There you are."
Brie heard William's voice and she turned to look at him.
"Do you want an apple?" He asked, looking at the still occupied Brie.
"H-huh?"
"What did she tell you?" He asked her instead of repeating his first question.
"Oh Dianne? Nothing... she just told me to tell you she said 'hi'," she answered him. "I'll head back to the car now."
William felt like Dianne had told her something that made Brieanna act like that. He looked at Brie walking to his car. It's too easy to read her yet nobody at her place could. Well, he gotta clear things later so she won't overthink and start stressing.
At the house Brieanna immediately changed her clothes. She hasn't returned his clothes because she wanted to wash it first before giving it back to him. After changing, she went out and head to the dining table. She sat down facing William who was already eating. She remember what Dianne told her.New girl William brought...She continues to think about it, totally forgetting that William was in front of her."You know you can ask me if it's really that bothering," William uttered, snapping her out of her thoughts.Brieanna blinked thrice and cleared her throat. She took some hotdogs and bread completely disregarding what he uttered.
"So you basically did that?" William asked Brieanna. "Duh," she said and rolled her eyes. "I did so many crazy things but yeah that video just posted online on itself and everyone thinks I'm a slut and that's just fucked up." William chuckled, thinking that there was really more to this girl. He wish he could bring back the Brieanna she was just talking about. They just finished the fifteenth round of the game and now the sun is setting. "So what about you? How come you're living alone?" Brieanna asked. "I'm all grown up. I'm twenty four for Pete's sake," William cooly answered that made her raise a brow and gasped. "You're five years older than me!" She exclaimed. Not in her wi
"Took you long to get some drinks," Brieanna said, eyes narrowed at William. Being all alone and waiting in a crowded place isn't her favorite at all. "Sorry, I was caught on something," he replied, sitting beside her and handing her the water bottle. "You look like you were enjoying the lanterns though." "Yeah, they do look nice. They seem to light up everything in this night market." "I bet it makes your heart melt." Does it? Well it kind of, she thought. She was used to dark places. The ones that she can think clearly while the soft breeze touches her face or the ones that makes her lonely is her favorite. Something like this feels new to her since it has been a while.
It was time to be on her own. Brieanna took a deep breath and blew it out. Yes, she met everyone already and they all seemed nice but it's a job. It all starts nice.As she enters the kitchen again she keeps a nervous smile, nibbling her lower lip as she makes her way to the big sink. She was not alone, she will be closely working with a married woman in her 30s or so, named Veron."It's okay to get all shaky and slow at first," Veron tells her. "I used to think I'll break every plate here. I ended up my first shift with five expensive plates broken."That does not help her at all. If she breaks a costly plate, that is probably going to cost her five days of working. She should be extra careful. And so Veron taught her everything she needed to know. She was also told not to throw every left overs. Veron told her to segregate it, from the foods that should go directly to waste and the meats and rice they can feed stray animals."Wow, the
Dinner was quiet and after it William waited for Brieanna to finish washing the dishes. He already prepared a contract and the rules they needed to abide in his house. When she finally finished, she gaze down the papers as she sits in front of him. "What are these for?" she asked him. "I forgot to give you the work contract and this on my right are the few rules I would like you to follow. Also if there are things you want me to follow you should list it so we can talk about it." Brieanna looked at the contract first, reading it as if she understands. Then she took a glimpse at William and to the pen he prepared. She reached for it and signed the contract. "Didn't take you the exact time to read it," he uttered. "Well if I did, I would still not understand all of it," she told him, putting the the contract and taking the rules. The first rule was not to enter the room that is not yours and never enter nor open t
Finally, Brieanna's shift has come to its end. She has done a terrible work today and she earn herself a cut from the knife earlier too. As she walks out of the resort, she decided not to go home early. There was nothing to do there, she will just get bored laying and gazing at her ceiling. So, she starting wandering around the town. The town is sure a livelier place at night than at morning. Vendors were busy putting up their stalls at the moment, the street foods were already set up and tourists like she once was were busy taking pictures everywhere. Her stuffs crossed her mind. Should she go dive in the water and retrieve her stuffs? She's sure there were no damage to them since she sealed it with plastic. Problem is, she will probably run out of air before getting to the bottom. Brieanna deeply sighed. If only that cold William didn't save her she wouldn't be in this town, thinking about how to live. "Ano... excuse me." When sh
Brieanna stared at William's hand. Has anyone ever reached their hands for her to take, like this stranger in front of her? Has anyone ever waited for her to catch up to them? She slowly raised her head and saw how desperate he was. "Why are you so eager to save me?" "Because you haven't seen the best in life yet, Brie. You've only seen the dark side of it. You can't tell the devils nor the angels that you've seen everything down here when you're just exploring one side," he replied. "Please, Brie. Let's go home." They stayed staring at each other as if the cold didn't bother them both. She sees it. The way her eyes are when she looks at the mirror. His ocean blue eyes were the same as her hazel ones. Dull. Finally, she turned her body around and got off the parapet. She placed her hand on his and he pulled her into a hug that made her eyes wide. "Damn you, Brie! Don't make me hold my breath like that again!" He was breathing heavily, ti
Richard and Willaim were glaring at each other for the longest time. Brieanna feeling uneasy with their atmosphere. She should say something! "Uhm..." "I didn't mean to intrude, bro. I thought she was single," Richard said. "I am--" "She is but she isn't here to date anyone." Okay, they were not allowing her to speak and William is just repeating what she said to him when she was new here. Dang, she's really that cold to him. Richard glances at her and she kept a thin smile which made his mouth turned up. She gaze at William and she instantly look down. His face was darn scary she swore she's going to die later. "Well, I have to get going. Nice meeting you uhm--" "William," he coolly said. Richard nods and turned to her, displaying a lopsided smile. "I'll see you around, Brieanna." If she could just pull Richard and let him stay talking to William while she makes an escape then
