Chapter 11

Amira's P.O.V.

I was still awake by the time the sun came up. Earlier today, I couldn't sleep because of the incident between Morris and me. Although we are married, he should only do things with my consent.

His domineering side scared me, and I was shaking, holding back tears. I heard a knock on the door, and I turned to face it, on guard in case it was Morris returning to finish what he started.

Cynthia entered with her usual lovely smile, and I immediately relaxed. "Cynthia, it's you," I said with relief.

"Yes, ma'am. I live here now, remember?" she replied humorously. But I wasn't in the mood to play around. Morris's creepy attitude that morning still haunted me.

I sat on the bed while Cynthia stood at the edge when something started vibrating seriously on the table. It was then I remembered that I had a phone. Cynthia went over to where the phone was and brought it to me.

It was my mom calling. I was surprised but happy that she was finally reaching out to me. However, she asked
