Chapter 24

Jace's POV

'You should've sent her somewhere she couldn't come back from, Jace.' Denis said.

I was ready with a biting reply, but I didn't get to verbalize it as mom touched my hand.

"Jace, she didn't expect this from you."

"I didn't expect this from myself, mom. I've said sorry so many times but she won't listen to me. What do I do now?"

Mom's fingers tightened around my wrist in assurance, "Do what no one has seen the Alpha King do."

I look at her, confused, "Like what?"

"You guess. You're the Alpha King. Try to remember what you have never done." There are so many things I have not done. I don't understand which one mom was implying.

I wanted to ask her what she really intended to tell me, but before that she woke up and departed, not before saying, "Do something the Alpha King would never do but he can do it just for his Luna Queen."

I blinked hard as the wheels in my head started turning. My eyes lit up as I smirked at the idea I got.

'I don't really think that would impress her.' Denis clicked his tongue.

'We'll see, my friend. We'll see.'

Jenna's POV

Evening has rolled over the day, bathing the world in darkness. The sky outside was violetish gray with lots of stars in it. Summers have started, hence the air is warm and there's always sweat on the body.

I just wiped my son clean with a wet towel and put him to sleep. I covered his cot with a net and came to stand at the balcony.

A weird kind of emptiness filled my chest. The kind that comes when you miss and want someone.

'You want your husband, Jenna. Come on, spit your anger and go to him. He already punished that whóre. I hope poisonous creatures bite her in the A****n forest. Or worse, I wish an anaconda would eat her!' Gianna cursed as I gazed over at the vastly expanding gardens.

The grass appeared dark green in the night and the crickets were chirping loudly.

Honestly, I want to go to Jace too. My heart just can't accept the fact that he misjudged me. Why would I punish his mistress-cousin for a lousy act of preserving his pictures?

The fact that Jace thought I was going after her for no reason is what grated on my nerves. We promised to trust each other. Then why didn't he trust me here?

'He trusts you a lot, Jenna.'

I know. He just didn't trust me when it came to Liza. He also defended her and— wait, what's that? I squinted my eyes as I saw something blinking bright yellow in the grass... Like a lone firefly.

I was trying to guess what it really is when suddenly a heart shape appeared on the grass. It was made with rice lights.

'This is amazing. Who's doing it?' Gianna remarked as I leaned out to look closely.

I caught sight of someone moving. With a passing breeze, I inhaled Jace's scent. Then the next moment there was a spotlight focusing in the center of the heart, and I found Jace standing there holding some kind of cards in his hands.

My eyebrows creased as I began to wonder what he was doing, except that I didn't have to because he flipped the card and I read a message.

[I know I was wrong to judge you, my queen]

He dropped that card down to reveal another one.

[But I accept it was me who's wrong here]

He smiled ruefully. I placed a hand on my heart as my nerves began to thrum in delight and thrill. Jace was apologizing while standing there in the middle of the garden.

I swept a gaze around and noticed heads on each window of the castle. The maids, the soldiers, and everyone else who could was seeing it too.

I saw movement in the garden and found he had dropped another card. The new message read:

[I blamed you for something you never did. I questioned your loyalty when I should have been protecting your heart]

He dropped that one too:

[I know my words hurt you. I know my doubt hurt even more. And I cannot take either of them back]

Another one:

[I'm sorry, my love. Not because I want your forgiveness, but because you deserved better from the man who promised to stand beside you without judging you]

[If I could go back to that day, I wouldn't change what you said. I would change myself. I would trust you]

Tears blurred my vision. I blinked rapidly and they oozed out, falling down my face.

[I cannot promise that I will never make another mistake. But I promise you this— I will never make you doubt your place in my heart again. You own every inch of me, love]

"J-jace," I whispered his name as he unleashed a small smile.

He dropped the previous card too and the next message set my heart ablaze in love for him.

[The cards end here. My apology doesn't. Come find me, my Queen. This time, I want to say the rest while looking into your eyes]

I careened out of the room as I burned with fierce joy. I was literally flying through the corridors. Maids and servants had come out of their rooms. They stood by the door giggling and praising their Alpha when I reached there.

"Luna Queen, Alpha King really loves you. Look, what he's doing." One of the maids said.

I walked towards the door and looked out. What I saw left me breathless.

Jace was kneeling on the ground. My throat became dry. He shouldn't do that. He's an Alpha King. He must not bend his knees for anyone.

I rushed to him and grasped his collar, "Get up, Jace. You're the Alpha's King."

"So what? I'm just accepting my mistake." He shrugged.

"Jace, please. Everyone is watching."

"That's what I wanted— for everyone to see that I'm apologetic and I don't mind kneeling for my wife."

"Jace, words will get out."

"I want it to," I stared at him, dumbfounded. "There is no shame in a king kneeling before the woman he loves."

Those words fell over my heart like a soothing balm.

"Besides, you're so angry that nothing seems to work. Maybe this would melt your anger. Jenna, I honestly feel ashamed. I shouldn't have been so ridiculous that day."

"Jace, please. Not here. Everyone is watching." My body was trembling.

"I shouldn't have sided with Liza. But you need to know there's only one woman in my heart— You, the mother of my child. My wife. My love. Just you."

"J-jace, please..." I collapsed on my knees in front of him.

His hands slowly grabbed my waist and pulled me closer, "I'm sorry, Jenna."

"Jace," I signed while tilting my head. I didn't expect he would do this. Sure, I'm hurt. But going on his knees? It's a lot.

"Do you forgive me?" I connected our lips to answer him.

We both sucked onto each other's mouth for a passionate long minute. When we parted, I trailed my right hand up from his shoulder to hair and pulled his head to meet my forehead.

"Yes, my king. But don't ever make me feel like I'm not the most important in your life. Remember, you chose me."

"I know and I'm proud of my decision." We both smiled before kissing again while the people in the windows giggled loudly.

I wish that mistress-cousin were here. It would be worth it to watch her humiliated red face.

Liza, you can never take him back from me. He's not just the father of my child. He's my man too.

And no one can come between us— This moment certifies that.

Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled. She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug

Chapter 57Jenna's POV 'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.''Roger that!''Okay.'We broke the link. I sucked a sharp breath as I focused on the road ahead. If I drive at high speed, I'll get there in twenty minutes.Jenna, hold on for a while, love. Your husband is coming to get you.(Twenty minutes later)"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes."Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car."Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me."Thank, goddess.""Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert.""I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it

Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first. He was

Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil. All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest. My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team

Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
