MIA’S POV“Where?” I gulped. In the back of my mind, I was praying Cheska wouldn’t remember her Aunt Vera. “Nah! I forgot where. Anyways, I’m going to ask my parents about Nixon. They might be home for summer.”“Me too.” I exhaled. I thought Cheska got me there. I almost peed in my pants. “Okay, catch you two later. I’m going to call my parents,” Cheska headed to the door. “Look who’s excited now,” I tease. She just snubbed me and continued leaving. Theo shrugged, but stayed playing on his phone. At home, I told my Mom about Nixon’s invitation, but I made sure Jaret was already sleeping. He’s now on the day shift. “Where is he planning take you and youe friends?” Mom was skeptical. She knew Nixon was a werewolf and being an ex-member of the Legion, she doesn’t trust him.“We haven’t decided yet, but Nixon is harmless. You know that.”Mom couldn’t decide yet without knowing our destination. But from her reaction, I’m pretty sure she will let me go with them. What also worries Mom

MIA’S POV“How sweet.”Cheska jokingly giggled seeing the flowers delivered in our room. It came from Nixon. He is formally courting me now, and didn’t expect he would be serious. “A bouquet of red roses,” I smelled the flowers. They were freshly picked and still smell like morning breeze.“He’s officially courting you. Congratulations. Now don’t act silly because that doesn’t mean that you are going to accept his love. There’s more thing to do.”“He knows that, and he is patient,” I defended Nixon a bit. “Whatever. You are not going to be her girl. Don’t complicate things.”Am I making it complicated? As far as I know, I am only allowing Nixon to court me, not to be his girlfriend yet, because no matter how I tried, Davon still owns my heart. Staying in the island has been fun so far. The vacation was worth it, and Nixon effortlessly entertained us. Cheska may not showing it, but she appreciate the gesture, but not his friends. “Come on! Pass the ball!” Theo yelled. We were playi

MIA’S POV I was breathless seeing Davon entered the classroom. Our eyes met, but I immediately retracted. He introduced himself to the class and moved to a seat at the back. Davon dress expensively like his brother Victor. Confident and proud. Different from the Davon I once knew. City life changes him big time. What do I expect? He left and didn't bother to look back and forgotten us. That is how money could do to you. His eyes didn’t left my sight, but I pretended not affected by his presence. Davon is nothing to me now. He no longer exist in my life. “Welcome to our school, Mr. Maddox. I hope you enjoy your senior year here. If you have any questions or you need some guidance, my office is open to all students,” Professor Callahan said with full of enthusiasm. He was always been proud of our town, but knowing Davon as one of the oldest family living in this town, he found his new prospect to trade stories about this place’s history. “Thank you, Professor. I appreciate that.”

MIA’S POV When we got home, Mom quickly went to the kitchen and opened some wine, drinking it straight from the bottle.“Mom, are you okay?” “I’m fine, just go to your room.” I nodded and turned away, heading to my room when I heard Mom called me again.“Mia, forget what your Dad said. He’s delirious, and I don’t want you going to that place ever again.” I couldn’t agree less with Mom, but Dad’s announcement didn’t bother me for a moment. I was more concerned of their confrontation. Dad was downhearted hearing those words from my Mom. As if she regret their relationship. She regret falling for him. “There’s only one person to blame,” I fisted. The next morning, I searched for Jeffrey Henderson at the Japanese restaurant. I know most of the members of the Legion hang out there, and I was right.“Jeffrey! I need to talk to you now!” “Do we have something to talk about? I am enjoying my tea can’t you see?” he answered rudely. How could Dad set me up with the guy like him? “Yes we

MIA’S POVWhat is happening to me? I felt so weak. Vera was in front of me shouting. Then she gave me water, forcing me to drink. I took a sip and close my eyes. After a few seconds I felt my stomach grumbled and puke. God, that felt better! Vera check my eyes and poured something in my mouth. “This will make her feel better. She’s dehydrated. Did you have a drink last night?” “Yes, Aunt Vera, just a few drinks.”“That’s why,” Vera told the housekeeper to cook some soup and demanded to do it quickly. She came back and check my pulse then check my eyes. I feel better, but my head still span when I move. “She’s regaining color. Give her the soup and let her rest. She needs more sleep and water. I suggest your friend shouldn’t drink alcohol when she’s anemic. It’s too dangerous.”Cheska stood beside the couch with her hands on her waist. She shook her and took her phone. “Is she stress lately? Because if she is then your friend must be suffering from poor sleep which causes her hem
