Katrine's POV:It was almost a week ago that I realized, how badly Jonas was affected by me… especially when I was playing by his rules. I had dropped by his room after my training session, still catching my breath, braid half-loose, the scent of sweat clinging faintly to my skin. My tank top clung to my torso, my leggings hugged me like a second skin, and honestly, I hadn’t thought twice about it. It was just another day, another workout. I hadn’t even expected him to stare, but Jonas… looked like he’d been punched in the gut.He was sitting on the edge of his desk, trying and failing to look casual, but his eyes told another story entirely. He was watching me like a man trying to stop himself from drowning. At first, I thought he was zoning out. But then I noticed where his gaze had landed, on my waist, my chest, and then… yeah. Definitely my ass.I turned to grab my water bottle from the bookshelf behind him, and when I looked back, he still hadn’t moved. He was staring, and his

Paul's POV: The door creaked shut behind me with a low groan, sealing off the dungeon and whatever twisted fate Elara had hoped for. I was finally out.Darkness enveloped me as I stepped forward into the tunnel, the narrow passage stretching endlessly ahead. Soft splashes accompanied the sound of my footsteps, enough to alert me that there was ankle-deep water in the tunnel, pooled around my boots. I looked down again, blinking a few times to see clearly. And sure enough, every movement of my boots was sending faint ripples through the silence. I trudged on, even as the air became increasingly dense with damp and rot, the ceiling so low in places I had to crouch. For the first few minutes, I focused only on putting one foot in front of the other. But then, slowly, the tunnel began to widen. The still water turned murky, and the ground under my feet grew soft and volatile. It wasn't just a tunnel anymore… I had walked into a swamp.Mud clung to my legs with every step. Shadows twi

Author's POV:The sun was yet to rise over the horizon when the peaceful morning was interrupted by the crunch of tires against gravel as a sleek black taxi rolled into the driveway. Jonas had left a few hours earlier, leaving detailed instructions behind. His attendants were already loading the luggage into the trunk by the time Lexie and Katrine stepped outside.Lexie rubbed her eyes, still heavy with sleep. A yawn escaped her lips as she wrapped her shawl tighter around her shoulders. “Everything has been loaded, Miss!”One of the attendants said as he shut the trunk.“Thank you,” Lexie replied softly, glancing at Katrine.Katrine didn’t say much. She simply nodded and gestured toward the open car door. Lexie slid into the back seat, feeling her drowsiness returning as soon as she sank into the warmth of the cushioned leather. Katrine followed, settling beside her without a word. The car pulled away, and the camp gradually faded behind them.As they drove further, the roads narr

Lexie's POV:My scream caught in my throat before it ever reached the air.One moment I was standing on the hilltop, smiling faintly as the wind danced through my hair and the horizon stretched endlessly before me… and the next, the ground had vanished beneath my feet. The world tilted violently as I stumbled forward, arms flailing, heart leaping into my mouth.I didn’t trip, I knew that for sure… I was pushed.I felt the sharp jolt of hands against my back and knew, Katrine had done it. The same girl who had woken me up gently this morning, had handed me warm tea, who had brushed a strand of hair behind my ear and said that she wanted us to make some memories today. That same Katrine had just shoved me off a cliff.I slid fast, gravel and dust scraped my knees, and my palms burned as I clawed at the ledge, somehow managing to catch it with both hands. My legs dangled wildly into the abyss. My slippers slipped off instantly, vanishing into the emptiness.Below me was a sheer drop… th

Lexie's POV:The moment Katrine spat out Abby’s name, both Paul and Jonas snapped their heads in her direction like she had just set the ground on fire. Jonas’s face paled, like he had been slapped. “Abby? What the hell does she have to do with you!?” His jaw was clenched tightly, glaring daggers at Katrine. But his voice wasn’t just angry, it sounded horrified… as if Katrine had brought up something dark that he didn't want to associate with her, or any of us.I noticed fist clench, realising that whatever was coming out of his mouth next wasn’t going to be pretty. But before he could explode, Paul jumped in.“Really?” Paul snapped, stepping in front of me protectively. “Are you going to trust Abby’s words over your own mate? Your own best friend?”Katrine’s eyes flicked to mine. And for just a second, I saw hesitation in her gaze. But the next moment, she straightened her spine, covering up the cracks in her confidence almost instantly and raised her chin. “Yes!”She declared
