ALEXANDER'S POV I figured out he was broken, the chairman had done what no one ever believed he would do.I stood there like an idiot with my hands stretched towards Kevin, he stared at it with disgust before slapping it away.Of course, I expected it; typical of him to always be short-tempered."Get lost!" He spat, his eyes bloodshot. "Oh, you think you are now better than me? Daddy's little Prince, you think I will ever leave the Wolfe's group of company? No. I've done plenty of dirty Jobs to keep the company at the top; it's only normal that I eat the fruit of my labour regardless of which family I come from. Here is some free advice: watch your back, watch the back of the people you love because I will strike back, and I won't have mercy."I didn't flinch. I just stared at him feeling more pity than anger. "You should see a doctor; your heart must be in terrible shape," I said quietly and left.I had barely taken three steps when I heard someone call my name, "Alexander."It was

ALEXANDER'S POV I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking, what if she woke up in the middle of the night and didn't see a single face looking at her? So I just watched her hoping she would stir, blink or even twitch. I got nothing. Her mother had woken up twice and asked me to sleep, but I was too excited, I wanted to be the one to see her move her fingers again. That morning was calm, beautiful I must say. The door creaked open gently and a nurse stepped in with her chart. Oh, how I loved to see short nurses; it remained me so much of I and Rubby's constant quarrels about how small she was; she never agreed she was tiny, though; it made me wish for a sister, well, so bad I couldn't have one; I came from a chaotic family."The heels didn't help," I greeted smiling."Stop," she laughed as she examined the monitor and touched Rubby's wrist. "There's increased brain activity; her body is beginning to respond, though it's slow, but with time it will be better.""Thank you," I whispered and let

RUBBYEverywhere was dark. Not the type of dark that comes from closing your eyes, but the type that wraps around your heart, your soul, your inner being, cold and endless. I didn't know where I was, or if I was still alive. I couldn't tell if I was breathing or not.I felt so weightless, as though I was lost in a place that held me captive still. I tried to leave, but it didn't want to let me go.Then Suddenly I saw a flash. It was Trisha. Her face appeared in pieces like shattered glass forming a whole. A gun was pointed at her, but I couldn't tell who it was that pointed the gun."NO!!!!!" I shouted as the hand shot her."Trisha No! Don't do this."I rushed to her. "No, no, don't do this," I pleaded, my body shaking in that memory. Her voice was trembling as she spoke, though her grip on my hand was firm. "I'm sorry," she whispered and slowly closed her eyes."Trisha, please, I'm not mad at you, I promise; we've not gone to the Maldives, don't do this, please."Then I saw the blood

KEVIN'S POV My new apartment was quiet. Too quiet, save for the shower I had left on.The quietness didn't soothe my soul, it haunted it.I dropped the glass I held on the table and lowered myself onto the couch with my elbows resting on my knees.I breathed heavily; who knew life could turn like this in minutes? This wasn't what I had planned.I interlocked my fingers and kept staring at the floor like it would open up and give me answers. Answers I already knew.My mind kept drifting to the last words my mother said, "I know who the second highest shareholder is."Who was it? I thought to myself. I needed to know who it was and see if there was a way I could manipulate him or her. Definitely, him because the only two women we had on the board of directors were the chairman's two women, not his wives.Honestly, a part of me wanted to give up that company, a part of me no longer wanted to be involved, but a larger part of me was insistent. I wanted Alex out of the way by any means po

RUBBY'S POV "I will stay with you," Alex whispered after we finished with the rites outside. "Are you sure about it?" I asked with gratitude in my eyes."I want to stay with you.""Okay," I murmured and stretched out my hand for him to hold."Mom and Dad will attend to the guests," Alex added. The funeral home was so quiet, apart from the heartbreaking sound of sobs and quiet murmurs. Her grave was surrounded by a sea of flowers, but it didn't seem enough to hide the deep ache in my heart. I selected her best picture, the one we took on her last birthday. I sat on the floor beside Alex with my hands clasped in front of me, trying so hard to steady my shaking breath. My body was present in the room, but I could tell my heart was a million miles away from the room. I was broken and pained. "Kevin," I muttered. He killed her. He shot her in my presence, the bastard ended her without giving her a chance to change. I had promised her we would celebrate her next birthday in Maldives, bu
