“Unknown?” I echoed, staring at Eli like he’d grown two heads. “That’s how every horror movie starts.”Eli turned in his seat, his eyes sparkling way more than they should. “Girl, stop being so dramatic. It’s called being spontaneous. Just settle down and trust the moment.”“It’s called being kidnapped,” I muttered, arms crossed. “But sure, let’s ‘unwind’”—I made air quotes—“with a total stranger in the car and no clue where we’re going.”“I’m not a stranger,” Ty chimed in, glancing at me from the front seat.“I know,” I said dryly. “But I needed to show how ridiculous this whole thing is. You just made a great prop.”“You’re in rare form today,” Eli laughed, and Ty joined in.“Yeah, well, that’s what being emotionally wrecked does to a person. Now just drive already.”Seatbelt clicked.
