บททั้งหมดของ The chaos of him: บทที่ 51 - บทที่ 60

“Remember when you were in school? Everyone watched themselves around you, because you wouldn’t look at their faces but you knew every wrong thing they did, and you made sure they paid for it. You were that kind of person, the kind that made sure every evil deed was punished.” I swallow, every word feels like a slice to my skin. Before him, I stand completely naked, metaphorically, and honestly. “Imagine my surprise when you joined the MARC department? The very department that protects oppressive people.” The MARC department was a department that you called on whenever you had something to hide, turning every illegal act legal. As long as you could pay, there wasn’t much you couldn’t get away with. The department would make it possible. In the past, this is the one department I would have sought to bring down. I would have made it my personal vendetta. But reality hit me harder and faster than I cold blink. That’s when I realized how much of a luxury it was to judge people who j

“I am not taking you anywhere until you’re well fed.”And he made due on his promise, with no other tricks up my sleeve, or no other options, Jake does need saving obviously. “I shouldn’t have said that.” Jesse sighs, the hand holding the spoon he has been force feeding me with, drops to the table with a clattering sound. It’s my turn to sigh. “I told you I could feed myself.” With my mouth open, he shoves another spoonful of rice, I glare at him and he only grins.I keep my eyes on him, unable to look in Kelly’s general direction. He remained silent after I ran out of the studio, after hearing what I consider to be Jesse’s threat. He remained silent as he watched Shameless Jesse ask me to sit on his leg while I ate, which I ignored, then he went ahead to say. “You had no problem doing it earlier.”That had made Kelly go into a coughing fit, Jesse pointed out a bottle of water to him, casually, like he had no idea why the man was coughing, like he wasn’t a direct cause of it. I

Jesse wouldn’t let go of my hand, and I don’t want a replay of last time, so I don’t snatch mine away like every bone in my body is screaming at me to. It doesn’t stop the burn at the tips of my ears.My eyes stay glued to the ground, fear of seeing the look on Kelly’s face keeps my eyes away from him. People pleasing again. Jesse’s voice floats into my consciousness.I shake my head, quickly dispelling his voice. He had no right. “How long until we get to Jake?” I ask finally, the tunnel seems unending.“Why? Aren’t you enjoying the walk? Do you want me to carry you?”The tips of my ears burn hotter, since I know Kelly could hear him, he is a step ahead of us, but I know he is listening in. Ducking my head, I squeeze his hand.“How did you make such a long tunnel and no one said anything? I mean the neighbors must have hated the sound and the fact that you dug under their houses.” Kelly says, not bothering to hide the awe in his voice. “Oh, it was simple, I bought the houses fro

“I assume you’ve heard the name, Mauritas?” He starts, glancing at me before keeping his eyes on the road. I notice he has been avoiding the main roads and roads that were heavily monitored. Normal people didn’t know a few of the roads we avoided were watched, there haven’t been any obvious surveillance around them and that’s why criminals who use them always get caught. He could have guessed one or two, but all of them? Jesse has never been normal, but this was suspicious.“Mauritas, yes of course, the man, the moment, the myth, the story.” Kelly says in a dry voice. Everybody knew the story. Well, every law official and criminal, it was the one thing we had in common, although for different reasons. Law enforcers hate the story, criminals on the other hand?I glance at Jesse, he doesn’t look like his colleagues would in this moment. Eyes would have been wet and shiny, mouth slighted parted in reverence to the story. He looks like he doesn’t want to talk about this story.“It

The ride had been extremely quiet after. Each one of us lost in our thoughts. I felt Jesse’s eyes on me from time to time, even when I pretended to sleep. I don’t want him to worry about me, but I don’t know any other way to react. By the time I open my eyes, he is driving through a clearing in the woods, the car jiggles on it’s sides. “You’re certain it’s here he found?” I sit up, peering through the glass, I see a house that’s as humble as the cabin, but somehow different.“This is where everything about me should be traced to, in case you somehow did find me.”I narrow my eyes at him, not for the first time, I wonder what his real identity is, since he is going this far to hide himself. He shrugs, and makes me sit in the car as he climbed out.“I know what I said, but don’t forget what he is.” Kelly whispers as he climbs out of the car.I understand what he means, nobody else knows we are here, none of us are with any self defence weapons. And I am dressed in clothes that aren’t
