Mara’s POV The room was only a bit lit when I stirred from my sleep. My mouth was dry and my head felt as heavy as a ton. There was also a banging headache that I couldn’t bear. They were effects of the hangover from drinking so much yesterday or was that earlier today. I had no idea how much time had passed. I wasn’t much of a drinker but I had just found myself doing it, I needed some peace. The peace that was him. Damon. He was seated in the chair beside the bed, his head was tilted back and his jaw was tight, barely visible in the little light in the room. He must have dozed off watching over me, even asleep he looked like he was carved out of stone, he looked controlled. His chest rose and fell steadily, I wondered why he hadn’t laid on the bed.
