Quin's POVAfter working, I picked up my phone only to realise I had spent more time than we agreed. It was forty minutes later, yet he wasn't back from his walk.I didn't think too much about it at first. Maybe he decided to add an extra ten minutes.I sent a quick text to Billie, to know how she's doing.Sup sis. Hope you're good?Just checking in.Then I decided to dial his number but it went to voicemail mail.We didn't fight or anything, which meant he wasn't trying to ignore my calls. so I should be able to reach him without effort.I put the phone down and picked it back up twice before I caught myself doing it and set it on the desk again.I walked to the window instead and looked out at the street below. People moving around like every normal day after after work.I told myself he had stopped somewhere. Lost track of time.I stood very still for a moment with the phone in my hand.Something was wrong.Tyler wasn't one to ignore calls. Especially mine. After about an hour of p

Quin's POVThe first address Jake sent me to was a commercial building on the east side of the city.It was a four storey structure that housed what appeared to be a series of offices connected to one of Aiden's investment fronts. The lights on the upper floors were still on when I arrived, which meant people were still working, which meant it wasn't the kind of place you brought someone you had taken off a street without their consent.I stood across from it for two minutes anyway. Then I walked the perimeter slowly, everywhere I could. But I found nothing that indicates he could have been brought here.I called Jake."The first address is clean," I said. "It's a working office. He's not here.""I figured that one was unlikely," Jake said. "I sent it because it was registered to the same shell company as the townhouse and I wanted you to have the full picture.""Next time give me the most likely first," I said."You said send all three.""Jake.""Moving on." I could hear him typing.

Tyler's Pov My neck felt heavy. Like I had been carrying something really big on it.I slowly opened my eyes but was met with disappointment.I was still in Aiden's house. I was really hoping it was a bad dream. I had gotten tired from looking for what to use to cut the zip tie loose. I couldn't even remember falling asleep the previous night.I adjusted myself on the couch and tried to stretch, checking first to make sure Aiden hadn't returned to do anything sketchy while I was unconscious. The room looked exactly as it had the night before.I was alone. For now.I sat up slowly and took stock of my body. My neck still throbbed where I had been hit. My wrists were sore from the zip tie, the skin around it tender from the times I had pulled against it during the night. My back ached from sleeping on a sofa that was comfortable enough for sitting and considerably less comfortable for an entire night of restless half-sleep.Everything else was functional.I looked around the room again

Quin's POVSleeping wasn't even an option at the moment. How could I sleep when the only reason I've gotten a good sleep for the past few weeks was missing.I was still at my desk when the city outside the window shifted from the deep grey of pre-dawn into the pale reluctant light of early morning. I had been sitting there since two in the morning going through everything Jake had sent across during the night. Financial records, property documents, associate names, company registrations going back years. I had read all of it multiple times, marked everything relevant, called Jake at four in the morning to go through three specific names that kept appearing across different documents in ways that didn't feel accidental.Jake had answered on the first ring.We talked for almost an hour . After that I had sat with everything spread across the desk and my cold coffee and the quiet apartment.By six in the morning I had been through everything Jake had sent and was at the window watching t

Tyler's POV I woke up with a throbbing pain in my head. The pain was so intense that I had to lay completely still for a moment without opening my eyes, letting my brain catch up with the rest of me before I attempted anything more complicated than breathing. The surface beneath me was a hard one this time not a sofa. The air smelt and felt different too. I slowly opened my eyes. The ceiling above me was low and unpainted. A single bare bulb in an old fixture. Concrete walls. A thin strip of grey daylight coming through a small window set high in the far wall, close to the ceiling, the kind of window that existed for ventilation rather than visibility. I was in a basement. And I was moved here while I was unconscious. I sat up slowly and my head disagreed with the whole idea of me moving at all. I sat up anyway, pressing the heel of my bound hands against my temple and waiting for the worst of the spinning to settle. The back of my skull was tender in one specific spot that corr
