EMILIA'S POVWe spent the entire two days left planning, and when it was finally the day of the event, there was nothing left unattended. By the time I stepped into the event venue, everything was already in motion, staff were moving around with purpose, trying to get their various jobs done. I arrived an hour earlier than the guest's arrival time. Things were moving perfectly with time so far, and final touches were being added to the venue with precision. Bella fell into step beside me as I moved further inside. "How is it going?" "Everything is on schedule, guests will start arriving soon." I nodded. "Any issues?" "Yeah, there had been a minor delay with cathering earlier but Raymond saw to it that it's been resolved." She answered. "I trust he would." If it wasn't resolved, she wouldn't be reporting about it this calmly. We moved around slowly, silently observing the work done. The decorators had done a great job as the atmosphere spoke of nothing but elegance. I tried to

JULIAN'S POVFor a moment, I thought I had heard it wrong, then I forced myself to believe that it was a different Emilia. It couldn't be....not the same one I have been searching for. Not the Emilia I had a past with. But then she stepped onto the stage, and everything in me froze, the entire room faded into a blur of colours, except for her. Emilia. There were no misconceptions in my instinct. It was indeed Emilia. The same one I knew, the same one I had treated wrongly for years. I don't even know which was more surprising. The fact that I just saw her in the most random place after months of trying to get a hold of her, or the fact that she was more composed, more confident, radiating a kind of authority than before. The same woman who used to sit across from me in board meetings, correcting projections before anyone even noticed the error. The same woman I......I shuddered in horror. Of course, it was her. When the shock wore off, everything fell back into place, it made

JULIAN'S POVShe was the same person, but somehow, a lot had changed about her. The changes were more in her ambiance than in her physical appearance, but even physically, she was glowing, filled to the brim with happiness. Standing right in front of her made me realize something, she was never the problem, I had ruined her life, made her turn into the worst version of herself, she withdrew into her shell around me, but now that she was in a healthy environment, she was free, free to live the way she wanted. The noise of the room faded into a distant irrelevant background noise when she finally raised her head to stare into my eyes. I missed her.....so much it hurts. "Emilia...." Even her name sounded so unfamiliar in my mouth. "Yes...." She swallowed hard, folding her hands neatly in front of her, the way she does anytime she is nervous. "Mr Julian."Mr Julian. I was her husband and now Mr Julian. A small bitter laugh escaped my lips as I continued to stare at her. "Is that wha

JULIAN'S POVImportant people were talking to me, investors, partners, executives who expected my full attention but I was distracted. I shouldn't be this distracted in the face of opportunities that could change my company's story for life. But no matter how hard I tried to focus, my mind ended up zeroing in on Emilia and the so-called Raymond she went away with. He was just a mere staff member in the company she worked for, I figured, and there was really nothing exciting about him that surpassed me but the fact that she was willing to go away with him made me restless. I have managed a few responses to the people I spoke with where necessary, most of the time I just nodded, smiled, and handed them our company's card, that was the best I could do, as my eyes were still drifting around the room, searching every corner for her. I spotted her assistant, the Bella girl, whom my team member had pointed at, but Emilia wasn't with her. I kept moving, putting on the facade of socialising

JULIAN'S POVIt was two days after I met with Emilia that the document that would seal our deal arrived. We were in a meeting with the rest of the team, discussing the success of the event and how it will positively affect our company, moving forward from today. Cassandra had arrived late to the meeting as usual but we were just getting started and she hadn't missed much. "Overall, the event looked like it was a success on our side." one of the company's executives said, sliding the report across the table. "We secured three new investors and negotiations are ongoing with the rest, it did looks positive from my viewpoint," Daniel muttered, picking up the report. "And the new staff that was acquired?" Another team member asked. "She isn't necessarily new. She has been a part of this company before." I responded casually. My statement though, seemed to have an effect on Cassandra, she dragged her eyes across the table and set them on me, waiting for additional information, without
