She let out a relieved breath. “Oh my goodness. I was so worried. I've been calling you nonstop, are you okay?”Evans scoffed. “As if you care.”“Uh? Did you say something?”He hesitated then replied. “I have been sleeping, Mom. I must have been so deep asleep that I did not know my phone was ringing.”“Oh, great. How is your fever? I sent you a text last night if you had used the drugs you bought but you did not reply. Is everything alright? And are you even at school? It seems like you're home, are you?” Evans clenched his jaw. “You don't have to worry about me, Mom. I'm not a teenager or a baby, I'm twenty-two. I'm very much legal and I can take care of myself well.” There was a pause.“Did someone say anything to offend you, Evans? You..you don't sound yourself.” Evans exhaled. He knew he could explode with words anytime, he could feel irritation all over him.“Like what? What do I sound like, Mom?” “I don't know. You sound like you are offended and you need someone to talk to

Evans felt relief wash over him as he settled beside Jasmine. "I am glad... so how was today's class? I was thinking we'd present today. I was up all night studying."She beamed lightly. "Same here. Mr. Derek did not notify me... I would not have missed my beauty sleep."Evans nodded. The noise of the students reduced as they left the hall. Eventually, they all left Evans and Jasmine in the class.“How is Chris? I'm sorry that I could not visit him and apologize personally," Evans let out calmly.“Chris is fine. The cake was for his birthday, but the one we got at the supermarket was even better..“Hello, ladies and gentlemen."Both of them turned their gazes to the doorway. It was Ophelia. She was clad in leather pants, a black jacket, and her nose was newly pierced. She had a lollipop in her mouth, and her black heels clicked on the floor as she walked in.Jasmine widened her eyes as Ophelia walked towards them, while Evans had a look of indifference on his face.He had texted Ophel

Evans leaned forward. "I am very glad to hear that..."Ophelia slammed her fist on the table; her eyes gleamed with irritation. The present people’s eyes turned on them, but she did not care. "Don't you dare say that again? You should think of ways... probably strategies to deal with them. You are their leader, and you should attain your position back."Evans let out a dry laugh. "You are not understanding, Ophelia. These people are strong... they are like you, and you expect me? A nerd to face off with them? I commend my dad for leading, but I don't think I'm bold enough to lead... your type."Ophelia's lips curved faintly. "You are weak."She chose her words slowly, making Evans' brows furrow.“What did you say?"“You haven't fully awakened, Evans. They won't accept you like this; instead, they will challenge you and probably beat you up," she retorted, her expression serious.Evans pondered quietly. He did not want to be involved in this madness, but he had no choice. If he withdre

“Welcome home, Evans.” “Wow.” That was the only word that escaped his mouth. She walked to him and grabbed his arm. “I miss you so much. Freshen up and tell me about things you’ve been doing all these days.” Evans nodded. The affection she was showing did not seem real to him anymore, but he played along. “I miss you too. How was your workday?” “Go and freshen up first, I’ll tell you about everything when we are eating,” she answered back, then added, “Is that your friend who came to drop you off?” “Yes,” he retorted dryly as she released her clasp from his arm. “I will be back.” She nodded. Evans headed to his room, emotions overwhelming him. He knew he could not keep them in longer, but he would try tonight. As he stepped into his room, his gaze landed on the broken window. He closed the door behind him and walked to his bed, then dropped his backpack on it. If he did not object, Ophelia would have taken him to see the pack, but he was not ready. What do you know what

Silence. The sea of eyes shifted to them.Jasmine blinked, and Evans could hear her heart beating faster than normal.“Wh..what?” She stammered.Evans stood there; he didn’t move. His arm was extended, and the ball was still clenched tightly in his hand. Jasmine turned her gaze to the ball, then back to him.“What just happened?” She inquired softly.“Hey, nerd.”Evans’ gaze shifted. He recognized that voice.Edward.He was standing with a few others, and his hair was freshly dyed green. A smirk was playing on his lips, and his hands were in his trouser pockets. He had black shades on, and he looked healthy, as if he did not sustain any injury from that night.“That was intentionally meant to hit,” he said as he walked closer, while the group behind him chuckled. “I did not know our special nerd now has the reflexes to catch a thrown ball.”Jasmine’s eyes darkened as she turned her gaze to him. “You are back, and the next thing you could do is create trouble, isn’t it?”Edward shrugge
