“Don't you think we should tell the Alpha? I think we should. What do you think, Warren?”“What I think is that you should learn to mind your fucking business,” Warren growled.“Come on. We can't just pretend we saw nothing. What if this piece of information helps to know what she's up to? We haven't seen her since the day she disappeared from the pack house. Jon, say something,” he looked at the other guard, his arm waving wildly through the air.“You know Warren,” Jon said looking at him, “we should listen to Rowe. He has a point. Why would she come to visit the dungeon alone and at night? It doesn't add up.”“She's gone Jon,” Warren's voice rose with exasperation. “She's fucking gone and I don't think she's coming back but if she eventually does, we'll be ready, waiting for her.”“You seem to forget she tossed us around like pebbles,” Rowe said. “That woman is fucking powerful. We don't stand a chance against Orchid. Heck, the full pack warriors don't stand a chance against her and

“You are saying you saw her here?” Laura asked, her voice so low it was almost a hush. “I saw her by the window and she vanished immediately,” Jenine replied.Fear glistened in her eyes like the moon reflecting on glass. “She was the lady I saw in my dream too. Should I be scared?”“You're scared already. Telling you not to be won't really do anything to help, would it?”Laura placed a hand on her trembling shoulder. “Calm down.” A sigh escaped Jenine's mouth, her lips quivering as it did. She wrung her fingers together, her eyes staring down at her hands. “So, what now?” her eyelids fluttered to Laura. “What do we do?”“I… I don't know,” she shook her head, her short hair bouncing as dewy-eyed Jenine stared at her. What could she tell her? That it was going to stop? That everything was going to be alright? “I really don't know Jenine ,” she said again. “Let's hope for your sake, that you were seeing things that weren't there.”“Then what about the dream I had? I literally saw her

Ferguson's hands tightened against the railings of the balcony as he stared blankly into the darkening day. His eyes flickered with every movement he saw. He heard the soft thudding of shoes stop outside his door.“Come in.”The door groaned quietly as Karl opened it, stepping into the room.“Everything is ready,” the words rolled out of his mouth. “Everything's set for tomorrow.”“Good.” Ferguson's fingers tapped the rails making soft metallic sounds. Karl joined him on the balcony. His fingers wrapped the rails, disrupting the hollow metallic sounds they produced from Ferguson's tapping. His body heaved as he exhaled heavily.“Do you think she'll be there tomorrow?” Ferguson's voice came, soft and low.“Orchid? It'd be unwise of her to make an appearance. She knows she's being hunted.”“Zonda seems to think she's unstoppable,” Ferguson glanced to Karl. “If she's as dangerous as he says, we can't risk having the festival without proper security. We can't have panic spreading through

“Elisha's still taking you?” Laura asked as Jenine sat in front of the mirror, dusting her face with light powder.“Mmmhhh,” she mumbled as she tried to apply the eyeliners.“You're getting it all wrong. Here, let me help you.” Laura turned the swivel chair around to face her. She couldn't help but notice Jenine's brown eyes that peeked out dollishly from under long lashes as she carefully lined the under of her eyes.“You could come with us,” she cooed, trying her best to still her fluttering eyelids.“Hold steady,” Laura said, her fingers wrapped lightly around the eyeliner as she scrubbed gently under her eyelids. “I'd rather go on my own.” She wouldn't be caught dead with Elisha. Never again. Her heart ached for Jenine. Has Elisha really changed? Has he changed from the person he was four years ago? “If he hurts her, I swear to the goddess…”A light rap came on the door breaking into her thoughts. Elisha. It had to be him.“I'll get the door. Finish up,” she tapped Jenine's lap

Laura's POV “Hold yourself together, Jenine,” I whispered, tightening my grip on her arm. I wasn't going to let her do this. I had watched her every move since she got in here with Elisha. You can't blame me. I didn't trust the son of a bitch.“Laura,” she grunted my name again as she struggled to break free.“Come with me,” I said in a taut voice, dragging her along with me. It didn't matter that she was struggling. I was stronger, she had no wolf. At least for now. I looked at her through the corners of my eyes. She was definitely moving like a she-wolf in heat—a wolf that had found her mate. I could scent all the lust on her and I could feel her body—warm, throbbing—as I held onto her arm tightly pulling her towards the exit. The cold, chilly air hit our faces, cutting through our skins like daggers as Jenine growled softly, pulling me back as the moon shone on her skin. When did it get so cold?“Dear Goddess,” I whispered, my eyes glancing round. The wolves that stood guard
