Novel & Cerita 2 Hour Cocktail Party

Came my cold reply, as I took a sip of my champagne. The man nearly rolled his eyes. “The preparations are ready.” “Finally some good news.” “When will they be done with this party?” I couldn't help but ask. He stole a glance at his wristwatch and turned to me. “Probably in the next hour.” “Great! I could finally have some time to lure her to the rooftop.” I took another sip of my drink, while scanning the crowd again. I couldn't help the smile that crossed my lips, when I caught her snacking on some cakes at the buffet, not giving a care to the men and women alike, staring at her.

Jane, my roommate said. It was night, the time on the invitation card that stated that the party has started was here. I didn’t rush there, it would be a little bit empty and calm. Real party freaks, comes late for a party since that’s when the party must have been ongoing and must people would have been drunk already. This is a twenty plus house party, so there would be games and lots of adult events. An hour and thirty minutes past and I headed to the house where they held the party. It was foggy and loud, they had started games and all of that. Every hallway and rooms were filled with guys and girls smoking or having sex.

I pull her closer. The pastries arrive at nine. We stay until one. Seven minutes home. And then several more hours of exactly what fourteen months of patience had been building toward, unhurried and completely certain and better than any dinner party either of us had ever attended. Forty. Few Hours Later. It was 7:00 pm and the so-called adult party had started, the kids left with their parents at 6:00 pm, so it took the decorators an hour to change the hall setting. I must say the party was damn awesome, there were male and female artistes and also actors and actresses, not newbies, I’m talking about popular celebrities. Looks like Mr. Xavier knows everybody because politicians, business owners and even some presidents of other countries came just to acknowledge Chelsea’s birthday. I’m so certain that by now my mouth will be filled with flies because I was gobsmacked. Who will ever think that I will be able to see these celebrities in reality. I saw Mr Xavier speaking

Sometimes I can’t help but wonder how he’s still friends with Drew who seems to have become the direct opposite of him. I found an empty spot by the window and took a seat, from where I sat, I could see how beautifully decorated the dining area was, there were fancy lights and flowers tied around the table and several mouthwatering dishes on the table. I grabbed a glass and poured myself some vodka mixing it with water to quench its burning taste. The living room was getting filled up already, I checked the time and it was 8pm on the dot. The lights went dim and it was announced that the party has just began.

Gabriella said expressionlessly. "I won't go." Henry did not allow her to refuse. "I'll pick you up tomorrow afternoon." He turned to leave. Before he left he reminded Felise, "Lise, remember to listen to your Aunt Gabriella, okay?" Felise nodded. She watched Henry leave with the door closed behind him. She looked up and asked curiously, "Aunt Gabriella, what's a cocktail party?" Gabriella explained simply, "It's when a lot of people gather and drink alcohol."

I spend a boring afternoon watching as the Alphas arrive and then move to the backyard to enjoy time by the pool. Finally, Clint comes back to the room, just as I get out of the shower. The official cocktail party starts at 6pm, with a sit-down dinner at 7pm.

“I’ll take it that you’ll be back here by 12 midnight.” “12?” My brow shot up. “Yeah.”.... “Party ends at two. That leaves us two hours.” His eyes locked on mine, mouth tilting. “Alone.” My whole body short-circuited. Two. Hours. Alone. I laughed, trying to shake it off. “Two hours? You sound way too confident.” “Not confidence,” he said, leaning closer, breath hot at my ear. “Fact.” “Fine,” I snapped, smirking even though I was melting inside. “ I'll make sure I'm out. Don’t make me regret it.”

The two of us head over to the marquee for the briefing and set up. The event starts at 9:00 and by 11:00 most people are here and flooding the beach. The party is at full blast. I’m walking around with trays of drinks and food, offering them to the esteemed members of the gentleman’s club as well as their partners and bratty children (most of whom I go to university with). The beach is filled with wolves, humans, vamps, fae, witches, warlocks, everyone who is anyone in the business world.

Ethan changed all of that. But for some reason, the haunting idea of memories of the two of them, here without me, don’t sit well. I shake my shoulders as if it’s enough to rid myself of the idea and turn slightly to try and get my shirt on, aligning the buttons in the mirror so I don’t mess it up. “Where is the cocktail hour, anyway?” She asks. “Button from the bottom,” she recommends, reading my mind. I nod, dropping the two by the collar and doing just that. “At the pack house. First time I’ll be seeing it.”
