The last day of April arrived quietly. No announcement. No particular weather event to mark the occasion. Just a Thursday that happened to be the last one of the month, the city going about its ordinary business entirely indifferent to the fact that something had shifted in the last thirty days in ways I was still taking stock of. I noticed it at work first.

Terrence insisted. “One person. You can tell one person, like I told Kara.” Chance cleared his throat. “We are sort of co-workers. I don’t want to get called in the HR or something before I get the chance to graduate” “Fair enough” Terrence smirked. “What else’? “Since this arrangement is for thirty one days, let’s make it count.
