I nodded frantically, my hands trembling as I reached for my phone to call 911. But Edward was completely calm, as if anticipating what was coming. Instead, he asked, "Can I… see her?" I turned my daughter toward him. Edward's gaze softened as he looked at her, smiling faintly. "She's adorable… I hope you both stay safe… always…" After forcing out those words, he lost consciousness, not responding no matter how I called his name. The wail of sirens grew louder in the distance. I stood there, holding my daughter, as paramedics rushed in and lifted Edward onto a stretcher.

Rumors were going to get out around campus. I reached for the phone, but Eddie held it out of my reach easily. I could hear Charles’ voice, which meant that he was yelling. I couldn’t make out what he was saying, though. “You have no idea who you’re insulting,” Eddie growled menacingly. “You’d do well to learn.” He hung up and glared down at the phone screen for a second. Then, he turned to face me and held my phone out to me. I snatched the phone immediately and started to walk away. Eddie followed me immediately, but didn’t say anything.

Eddie asked, trying to keep his voice steady. The man hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Fine. But make it quick." Eddie was given a cell phone and quickly dialed a number. He waited anxiously as the phone rang, hoping that the person on the other end would pick up. Finally, someone answered. "Hello?" "Hey, it's Eddie," he said quickly. "I need your help. We've been set up and we're being held at the police station. Can you come down here and help us out?"
