A Dog's Purpose Novels & Stories

"Now that everything's back to normal, maybe we could get a dog? A big one that could protect us but also be fun to play with?" Jeffrey and I exchange a look, having the kind of silent conversation that couples who've been together for years can have with just eye contact. A dog is a big responsibility, would require time and attention and training, but it would also give the boys something positive to focus on, something to care for and love that has nothing to do with trauma or legal proceedings or complicated family dynamics.

He continued: "Dogs eat from dog bowls and drink from water bowls. Dogs do not climb on furniture uninvited. They lay on the floor, or on their bed or in their cage if they are put there. Dogs poop and pee in the back yard, not in the house, except on a pee pad. Do you get the idea Rose? You will do everything the way a dog does things. Dogs only do a few things- they eat, pee, poop, play sleep, sniff, and reproduce. Now, what are your questions?"

If Maple were here— would this be about the right pace? Actually, maybe not. She would probably stop more. Sniff things. Suddenly decide she wanted to go in a different direction. “...I guess I wouldn’t necessarily be the one deciding the pace.” He smiled to himself. When he had looked up information about dog walking, he had learned that it wasn’t simply about covering a certain distance. Sniffing was stimulation too. For a dog, a walk wasn’t only exercise. It was also time outside— seeing things, smelling things, experiencing things.

“Everything that I have experienced so far should already stop me from dreaming that dream - you know, finding a purpose. That purpose is always to find my human like my mother had told me - to make a difference in that human’s life and to allow him or her to make a difference in mine… That dream had saved me, propelled me to not give up although I do not know how long I can keep chasing.” Saucy discretely wiped her tears with her paws. She knew exactly what Polly was talking about. It was tiring and heartbreaking to keep chasing only to be rejected in the end. But she was banking on Polly not to give up. This little dog had given her a purpose she had lost the moment she gave up finding the

the EMT who walked in with Karsyn asks. "Good question, that's what I'm talking to you all for. Bottom line is we need the dogs. Rambo alone has proven his worth, if we had two more like him?" "There's no other dog like Rambo," Stella says loud enough for everyone to hear. There are giggles around the room, and I can't help but laugh too. "Touché. But I think y'all understand what I'm getting at. These dogs are another line of defense against a number of threats to our town. They track missing people, wanted people, they smell dope, and just like you all saw Rambo do, they can go after one perpetrator while we go after another. They are expensive, but they will more than prove their worth."

“Committed to his work.” “And the hounds?” I turned to him and smiled. “He’s put me in charge of the puppies, but I still don’t understand the point of keeping them.” “They’re working dogs,” he said. “They guard your pack?” I asked. Griff shook his head. “We use them in service to our great mission.” “It sounds very important if you’re hiding them behind two sets of wards,” I said. “Another thing I don’t understand is why you’re entrusting their care to a complete stranger.”

"You've never had a dog before?" Klempner regards Blackie; well over a hundred pounds of Rottweiler, cuddling up against him for protection from my scrubbing-brush terrier. "No, and it wasn't my intention to have one now. What am I going to do with a dog?" "They're soothing company I find, when the world gets too much. Or the people in it." Klempner nods slowly, sucking in his cheeks. "It's not as though he can travel with me."

As they stood together, their eyes locked in a silent understanding, they knew that In the heart of the wolf military, a noble purpose burned bright, one that transcended the mere pursuit of conflict. Their true mission, their unwavering objective, was not to engage in battles, but to stand as a formidable barrier against the very essence of war itself. The wolves, with their keen instincts and razor-sharp intellect, were not mere warmongers, but guardians of peace. Their duty, their calling, was to prevent the eruption of violence before it could consume the land. In the heart of the untamed wilderness, a pack of majestic wolves roamed freely, their presence a testament to the delicate bala

"He's my lucky charm." Only after he rescued this dog from an addict, he met Jacques and his life changed after that. And that's why he considered him as his lucky charm. And although huskies are said to be working dogs and not guard dogs, Duke is smart and he can do what is asked of him. Jeremy stood beside Jacques and she saw the genuine smile on his face. He must love that mean-looking dog – she thought. And that dog loves him too. "He should be over ten now, right?" Jacques asked.

I asked with a frown. "Every society, every species have their weak and vulnerable." Sarah shrugged. "No one knows why they were created, but they serve a vital purpose inside the pack. They create a balance in power. If a pack has all dominant wolves, we'll just fight amongst each other and eventually end up killing and thus there would be no pack. They have this…calming effect on our wolves, and they give the dominant ones a purpose. To protect the weak and vulnerable." "So, is Daisy an omega as well?" I asked, remembering how calm my wolf had become when she had first set foot inside my prison cell.
