Beneath The Moon's Bite
First it glowed red, then gold then silver and it erupted into fire……But not consuming fire, it a living breathing fire.
The column grew brighter and hotter, until I had to shield my eyes. The pack screamed, scrambling back, pointed at the impossible thing happening before them.
And through the flames, I saw him.
My Luca, he was standing. He was alive.
He rose from the ashes like the moon rising from the horizon. Slow. Majestic. Inevitable.
The fire swirled around him, but it didn't burn him. It wrapped around his body like a second skin, like a cloak, like wings unfurling. His eyes were open…..silver, but brighter than before, blazing with a light that hurt to look at.
