We both walked out of the pack house and headed straight to Alpha’s library, which is a few miles away from the office. We got there about a minute later. Andrian opened the door, and we went in. We were welcomed by the thick air surrounding the library. The scent of old parchment lingered in our noses. We walked through the shelves holding dark leather-bound books that stood tall like ancient guards. Andrian let out an audible sigh. “Where do we begin?”

Something else walked in Ashwood. And so he did what every Mayor had done in times when the balance tipped—he sought out the Order of Ash. --- The library of Ashwood stood at the northern edge of the square, a tall, skeletal building of stone and stained glass. I didn’t really think about it, I just picked the one that looked like a flower.”

Werewolves specifically. Most hunters dismissed those books as myths and fairy tales. Pa had even ordered many of them to be removed from the main library years ago, saying they only filled young hunters' heads with nonsense. But he hadn't burned them. He had simply locked them away. I slowly sat up. "If there's an explanation, it has to be there." The room was still dark as I slipped out quietly. The compound slept peacefully, unaware that someone was wandering its halls before dawn. I knew exactly where I was going. The abandoned archive. A small stone storage room tucked behind the old training hall. Almost no one came here anymore.

The Genome Library was the world's biggest, partially centralized library. The amount of information the library had was nothing ordinary.
