It worked. The tiny crimson bead hovered in front of me, trembling slightly. I didn’t try to do anything else. Just held it there. The magic felt strange. Not violent like before. But not calm either. Unstable. Like a wild animal that might bite if I lost control for even a second. I slowly lowered the drop back onto the counter. The moment it touched the surface, the magic slipped away again. I opened my eyes. My chest rose and fell slowly as I leaned back against the counter.
