CHAPTER XVII: Implicit Confession of Feelings Nicanor floated into the air above Glade. It appeared like they were up to something. What would it be? As far as I remember, Nicanor’s magic is Acid Magic and it is corrosive in nature. That’s way too dangerous when use in its maximum power. I took a deep breath and released it, trying to relax so I could feel my magic. I felt the familiar thrumming of energy within me, but it pulsed with an unusual weight tonight, reluctant to respond. I closed my eyes, focusing inward. The whispers of my magic grew louder, drowning out my thoughts, and I gritted my teeth, willing the magic to flow. "Please," I muttered, pouring my intention into the spell. I envisioned a warm light surrounding Aric, a protective barrier to break whatever held him there. "Sage" Daisy shouted and the atmosphere became tensed as the wind blew heavily. I stood still with the two people in the midst of the wild wind. The man stood his ground and same with Daisy. Sage stretched his hand like he did earlier and the red stuff came out again ready to hit us but Daisy stopped it by stretching her hands as well and a blue light came from hers. It met Sage's own midway and they disappeared.

Garbie and I exchanged a nervous glance. I exhaled sharply and ran a hand through my damp hair. “Then we need to get out of here. We ended up here by accident, so there has to be a way back, right?” Aaron studied me for a long moment, his golden eyes sharp and assessing. Then, he shook his head. “That’s impossible.” My heart skipped a beat. “What?” “There’s a reason you ended up here,” he said. “Magic isn’t random. Something brought you here, and until we figure out what, you’re not going anywhere.”
