I was alone in this. Which meant I had to save myself.

I knew no one was going to open it. I was completely alone, completely invisible, and the real nightmare was just beginning.

I needed to focus on protecting the only place that brought some joy to my life. "It's just us alone now," I whispered to myself.

They didn’t know I was here. I was on my own.

No one who would understand. I was completely alone.

"To be honest, I have no damn clue. I've been saving my money though, and Marta and Bill would shit, bit I really just...ugh. Well, I want to go somewhere. Do something. Between the studying, side jobs and being in that depressing house, I just want to break the routine. A change of scenery." "I feel you! I'm wanting the same, but I was too afraid to do do alone. I was just waiting on you to say something like that so I'd have a partner in crime. I don't have the balls to go solo." I smile. "Me either. Bill has kind of freaked me out over the years. If a dude follows me through the 7/11 I'm already reaching for the industrial strength dog deterrent and convinced it's my end." She laughs.

I also felt completely alone for the first time in years. But I knew there was only one thing to do.

I had technically won a trip for two, but I had come alone. I lived by myself, had no boyfriend, and my older sister who was supposed to come with me had gotten appendicitis and had to cancel at the last minute. It was easy enough to cancel the reservation for her, but it meant that no one else was able to get the time off to go with me. I was on my own for this trip. I sighed and turned away from the happy couple. Valentine’s Day had only been a couple of weeks ago, and I didn’t want another reminder that I was alone.

That’s when I realized. I was all alone with him.

And I knew then. I was truly alone.
