Adam rolls his eyes as he crosses his arms and Luther looks back at me eyes and says, “Go ahead, try.” I take a deep breath before attempting to do what he said. I feel abnormally cold and like I’m in someone else’s body as I tell him, “Pick up the third book on the top book shelf.” I don’t know why I chose for him to do that, I just needed to instruct him to do something, it’s not like it’ll work anyway. But then he walks, he does exactly as I’ve said and then comes back to me with the book in hand. I frown as I take it from him and I focus on releasing the grip I feel like I have on his mind. The moment I do, he takes a sharp breath.

I could not stop myself from sneezing twice. Then, the familiar tickle in my nose made me freeze. When I looked up, the girls in Aurora Sanders's row had already stepped out of formation and were introducing themselves to us. "My name is Aurora. The Aurora dancing in the sky. Nice to meet everyone." The familiar words made my fists tighten as I realized I had gone back in time. I was back on the first day of university's freshman boot camp! After a lot of wandering around trying to distract myself from going close to the book, I eventually sat back and glared at the book. After a deep breath, I decided to just look at the book. It's fine since I can’t understand the language. The letters in the book started to change magically, moving across the book till it started to make sense to me. I shut my eyes hard and opened them slowly. “You can read my mind?” I said out loud. It was a feeling, just a feeling, but it felt like the book was laughing at me right now. Nothing was happening, but I could tell I was having a strong conversation with the book.

“You aren’t, Alpha Damon. You’ve been well informed. There are few questions I would like to engage you with if that’s ok with you.” “Go on,” I replied. “In all honesty, do you believe that brute strength can win against the power of the mind?” Everyone including Luke turned their gaze to me. It was obvious where this clever alpha was going with this question. “You asked me to be honest with you and that’s what I’ll be. I believe that brute strength would win against the mind anyday, anytime,” I stated my opinion. He nodded while rolling his eyes. “Have you read that book… uhm, what’s the title again? A wolf who could lead the world with only his mind.”

Why wasn’t I hearing anything? Then it hit me. I hadn't heard a single thought from him since the second we'd collided. Normally, people’s minds kicked in right away when someone accidentally got a drink spilled on them. A stream of annoyed, low-level swearing thoughts about the stain, the fabric, and how the night was now officially fucked. But with him, it was just a total, unbroken void. Which should not have been possible. Humans thought constantly. Their brains never shut up. I knew that better than anyone. I had spent years drowning in it, learning how to filter through chaos that never stopped moving.

“We will not waste our time punishing people like you.” “So this is all for what?” Praxis did not know where all his energy to ask questions coming from. His mind was in outright shambles and while he knew he wouldn’t obtain much, getting at least something would help. “Just think of it as a science project,” the man analogized, and Praxis could feel his smile. “And you are our rats.” “Will you. . . kill us?” Praxis’s direct questions stopped what the old scientist was doing. He turned to him and smiled like a clown, a disgusting grin he had only seen this time in his life.

As Adolph entered his room, he picked up a book from the shelf, hoping to distract his mind from the whirlwind of thoughts that were swirling within him. However, as he opened the book and tried to focus on the words on the page, he realized that his mind was elsewhere. It was filled with the memory of their kiss, the soft press of their lips against each other, and the warmth that had enveloped him in that moment, smiling to himself, as a mixture of emotions coursing through his veins.

Ruby turned her head and shot me a provocative look, her eyes brimming with smug satisfaction. I stood at the edge of the crowd, a faint, cold smile tugging at my lips. Just as I thought. A moment ago, I had cursed her in my mind, calling her an idiot, and she hadn’t reacted at all. However, the second I started thinking through specific skill data, she responded immediately. So her mind-reading skill wasn’t all-knowing. It seemed she could only pick up on the most focused, technical thoughts in my mind.

I laughed and nodded before looking down at the book. It had a glossy feeling to it and a picture of the brain and

"I've done nothing wrong. I agree to call off the engagement." Mark froze, completely taken aback. Then, a robotic voice echoed in my head, ‘The Thought Sharing feature has now been activated. Please choose who you want to share it with.’ Thought Sharing? The person I picked could hear Alice's thoughts, too? I looked at Mark, still in shock, and calmly touched my face. ‘I choose Mark.’ Right then, Alice's inner voice rang out again, just in time. 'Can you believe it?
