Amihan POV. It's been Ten years since I last stepped foot on ANWIL company premises and somehow it made me feel nostalgic. As I got out of my car, I felt tears welling up in my eyes. I wiped them quickly so no one would see. Ten years ago, I was a different girl. Life has cracked, honed, and hardened me. I no longer felt afraid of being in the dark or being darkness itself. I missed the former me most of the time, but she passed away ten years ago.

"You couldn't tolerate me showing Elena even the slightest affection, yet you can accept Vito sleeping with another woman? "It's only been a few months, and you already love him this much? What am I then? What about our ten years together?" I gave a soft, mocking laugh. "Ten years didn't stop you from changing the moment Elena appeared. So what right do you have to question me?" I closed my eyes, my face twisting as if in pain. After a long pause, I spoke again. "Come with me to see Vito one last time. After that, I'll give him up completely."

Because she believed Dad had wronged him? No. That wasn't it. Uncle Donald had never truly mattered. The truth was that she loved Dad too much. She cared too much. She couldn't tolerate even the slightest possibility that his love for her contained a trace of deception. The fireworks cast their glow on the nearby glass windows. In the reflection, Mom saw herself. Sometime along the way, a few strands of white had appeared at her temples. Suddenly, she felt weary and resolved that she had had enough. Life was fleeting, and she had already frittered away ten years. She didn't wish to waste any more of her life.

"But Ms. Harper really hasn't moved in three days." Logan waved him off impatiently. "You think a few days in a freezer can kill her?" He gave a short laugh. "Come on, Patrick. She spent fifteen years in some poor little town. She's been through worse. Stop making a scene before you scare Chloe." I drifted above them, forced to listen as my own brothers cursed my name. All I could manage was a hollow smile. Fifteen years in that poor little town. To help my foster parents scrape by, I hauled bricks, scavenged through trash, and scrubbed dishes through endless winters, until the cold seeped into my very bones.

“But today… I wanted to do it for you.” I watched him quietly. He still remembered. Years ago, before the first snow had reached the mountains, he had insisted on chopping enough wood to last the whole season. His hands had blistered badly, and I had scolded him for three whole days. Now here he was again, doing the same thing without being asked. “You’ve improved,” I said softly. He looked up at me. “At chopping wood?” I shook my head. “At pretending you don’t need to prove yourself to me anymore.”

Archie yells as if scolding his little brother for doing something unspeakable. Mr Gordon rolls his eyes. “Stop making a big deal out of it. Shit happened decades ago and everyone is over it.” He laughs and wipes a dropping tear that drops from his left eye with his thumb. “You were an awful cooker.” Archie groans before going back to the egg he is whisking. “What about you, slashing your finger while chopping the vegetables?!” Mr Gordon yells in embarrassment. “What?” Archie laughs shortly. “I’m just 13… Well, almost fourteen.” he giggles.

It was the best sound she had ever heard in her long 18 years of being alive. She giggled and looked away as she pushed the tree to fall in the opposite direction. “So what should we do now?” Logan asked, narrowing his eyes at the tree. He knew they had to chop them down into smaller pieces and put them on the cart before wheeling it back to the Pack, but he didn’t know where to start from. “Okay, Sir. You just sit back and watch while I do this. I believe you don’t have the strength to…” He cut her off when he picked up the chainsaw and dragged them on the drive.

Ten years later__***** Ten years passed in the blink of an eye. Every had withered away, Lucas's feelings, hope, and everything. This world was cruel. A ten-year-old kid was being confined just for being the son of Lucifer. He was a curse. He thought. His stomach had grumbled for years, expecting a munch of food but nothing came. What filled the room was the stench of dead animals and also the ones picking on his foot and biting on them like it was some candy.

A few seconds later when I manage to calm down and swallow what I already had in my mouth, my father continues. "If you don't like this, try harder. Look at Rodrick, his wolf came out when he was ten years old. Ten years old. You're fourteen and you still can't shift, don't you realize how embarrassing that is?" he complains, shoving another piece of meat into my mouth. I have blood all over me now and can't stop my tears but I have no choice but to keep chewing and swallowing.

"It happened when we were young, I think it happened, maybe a year or two after our parents abandoned us. . ." The fall air was crisp and clean as two young fox siblings walked through the forest. The younger was barely able to keep up with his sister. "Are you doing alright?" Kate called back to her brother, who stumbled through a pile of leaves. His tiny head bopped up and then down before he nodded. "Where are we going?" He asked as he pushed through the leaves. "We're going to the falls," Kate said. "Why?" He asked his curiosity taking over. Kate smiled and said, "Because you turn ten years old tonight, it'll be your first shift and the falls are safer to be rather than the hollow."
