He didn't come in as the Alpha, nor as the ghost who had haunted Danny’s city. He looked dishevelled, his shirt sleeves rolled up and his eyes wide with a frantic, echoing pain. Through the link, he had felt Danny’s spiral as if his own soul were being shredded. "Everyone out," Alex commanded, his voice a low vibration that brooked no argument. She was afraid that he was a bad person who wanted to kidnap her because of her stepfather's status as a very dangerous military chief. Alexander, no, ‘Daniel’, was dressed the same way he always was when he played this role. Simple clothes, glasses that weren’t real but served as part of the disguise, and an easygoing demeanor that was just different enough from his real personality to throw people off.

But I followed him. I could not stay behind. Outside the gates stood a tall man with a thick skin and deep blue eyes. Alpha Kael. He looked even stronger than the last time I saw him. Alpha power was already smelling on his body and he was breathing like thunder.
