Stopping by the cell in which Finn was being held captive, he gestured at me to unlock the door. I bowed in respect and quickly unlocked the door for him. Holding it open, I waited for him to enter the cell. It wasn’t the first time I’ve seen Alpha Dalton this serious. I was used to working with him in every kind of situations and this one was close to a similar occurrence that had happened before.

His presence filled the space before he even spoke. “Mrs. Blackthorn,” he said smoothly, his tone refined, charming even. “I hope I’m not intruding. I do intend to come on time when it is meetings like this.” I gestured for him to sit. “Not at all. You have me at a disadvantage, though. I don’t believe we’ve met. And given your scent, I can tell that you are not from here, Alpha.” He smiled, slow and confident, the kind of smile that didn’t quite reach the eyes. “Forgive me. Alpha Lorenzo D’Amaris. But I choose to go by Mr. D’Amaris when it is amongst humans.”

They disappeared because they were preparing their next move. His phone buzzed again. Confirmed. He appears to be heading toward Milan. Kane stared at the message. His anger settled into something colder. If Mona's father had left the country, finding him would be more complicated. But complicated didn't mean impossible. Kane reached for his phone and scrolled through his contacts. He stopped at one name. Enzo Alvarez. He hadn't spoken to Enzo in a while. He hadn't needed to.
