"I do the hunting, sugarplum. I don't get hunted." I bit the inside of my cheek. I had to admit, sugarplum was pretty funny. "We’re hiding in a cave, Alpha. Your story doesn't quite add up." He went quiet for a beat. "You never fail to surprise me with your insubordination." My heart which had been racing for all the wrong reasons, finally began to steady. A small smile played at my lips. He wasn't as terrifying as I’d initially thought, or perhaps he was just keeping up with my uncontrollable mouth.

I approached slowly, careful not to disturb the delicate bubble they seemed to occupy. “Lily!” Alice exclaimed, pointing at me. “Come! Ice cream!” I smiled, sliding into the seat across from her. “I see someone is excited,” I said softly. Alice nodded, her eyes sparkling. “Daddy’s silly! Look!” I followed her gaze. Ace was leaning back slightly, holding up a tiny spoon in mock exaggeration, pretending it was a sword. Alice squealed, and he jabbed gently at her empty bowl, eliciting another fit of giggles.

“He dumped you? Has he gone mad? You look like a literal goddess and I can't even begin to imagine how that anyone would break up with you.” “Apparently I'm not good enough for his ass.” “You want to slash his tires?” She cracked a smile, “God, yes.” We clinked glasses and drank more. One glass turned into three and by the fourth, I was laying sideways on the couch, laughing way too hard at Alice trying to mimic Alan’s voice. She rolled her eyes, holding her glass up like a toast. “You better head back up before he gets here.” “Oh shit you're right,” I laughed, finding it abnormally funny.

“Did her Mom even fall down the stairs or was that just another piece in your game?” Alice spun around slowly, halfway to the kitchen. That knife of hers shimmered under the light, a mirage of silver and crimson. “Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty together again. That nursery rhyme should have a part where it mentions Humpty’s horrible Wolfsbane addiction. Drugs are a terrible thing, aren’t they?” Wolfsbane my ass. I’d bet anything that Alice shoved her down the stairs herself.

“So, I´m Superman and your mom Wonder woman, what do you say, sweet pie?” And being more than a way to play along with the boy, it was a way to let Alice know what he was feeling for her. Alice looked at him firmly; there was something else in his eyes, something she couldn´t guess or… she didn´t want to know about. “Yeah, my mom is Wonder woman.” Alice looked away. Any action or word against Ian´s words left short what she wanted to represent him. “We have to go home, Joseph, you already had fun and now, we´ll get back to reality where your homework is waiting for you.” Alice rushed him.

Why haven't you answered our calls or texts, shorty? Me: Woah, Casanova, it almost sounds like you miss me? Alaric: In your worst nightmare. Me: Oh, Al, every moment spent with you is a nightmare. Alaric: You want to die? Jonah: Can you guys have one civilized conversation? LOL Me: Have you not met Alaric, the Pennywise impersonator? Alaric: Call me that again. I dare you! Me: Oh, look. he spat every word as if poison dripped from his mouth. Alice took a step back. "You’re crazy" she said softly and laughed, a lifeless laugh. "Yeah, I went crazy, but you know what the fun part is?" His eyes shone as he questioned her "it is this madman who is with you now, and until you wake up..." Kalias smiled "you’re just a human, a human who can be hurt and easily beaten, so measure your fucking words" Alice shrank, the body finding the wall behind her.

Alice stepped back, a curious glint in her eye. "I have a surprise for you," I said, trying to contain my excitement. Her eyes tilted upward at the corners. "What surprise is that?" she asked, her voice laced with curiosity. "Why don't you guess?" I teased. Alice laughed. "I don't think I can guess. Tell me, please." I chuckled. "No, you have to guess. Anything. Even if it's wrong." She touched her chin thoughtfully. "Mm... Are we going on our honeymoon?"

“You just climbed Mount Everest. This is a piece of cake, Alice. Let’s go to Wonderland.” She found it odd that he mentioned Alice in Wonderland after her thoughts earlier in the day. “I think I’m more Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. I found out I’m happier settled at home than on grand adventures.” She looked into his steel blue eyes. A stark contrast to Sean’s beautiful, brown eyes, but lovely nonetheless.

Alice felt that she had no way to refuse. So, she had to add Giselle as a friend. Only then did Giselle smile as happily as a child. Alice couldn’t imagine how such a woman could do something like scamming Collins’s property and cheating on Zayden’s father. Alice showed a puzzled expression but held back from asking her what had happened.
