She stumbled back, visions crashing into her mind—trees twisted into thrones, a woman with fire in her hair and fangs for teeth, a war fought under twin moons, blood-soaked snow… Kael caught her before she hit the ground. “Ayla!” “I—I saw her,” Ayla gasped, clutching his arm. “The queen. She wants me to—” The air cracked. A branch shattered above them as something massive dropped from the trees—black claws, white fur, snarling fangs. A Snowborn Lycan. Kael roared, slamming into it before it could reach Ayla, steel flashing. The two beasts tumbled into the snow, a mess of growls and blood.
