Reese pulled again, almost dragged me away from the stairs and led me through the underground corridor. It begins to float mid-air and as if it has a mind of its own, it drags me to the bookshelves.

The great glazed lamp on the roof had fallen to its lowest brightness, and only the crystal lamp on the table gave off a faint but steady glow. All the lilies in the hall glow in the dark, like countless yellow fireflies rising in the dark. The mirror under my feet reflected the fluctuating light, and the whole hall seemed to fall into a sea of night flowers. “Dear Delia, do you like it?” The deep voice slowly invaded my eardrums. I turned and saw his gentle eyes.

It was a full moon tonight, beautiful and breathtaking, yet so much hateful. I hate the moon, the stars, and that dark sky. I hate them with all my heart, yet I am doomed to never escape from the night. And there were also these burning torches surrounding me, torches which their intense flames seemed like they were about to devour me. But no matter how much I hated all of them, they didn't hurt me. They couldn't. Not like these dozens of contemptuous gazes around me.
