They were both students in unilag. Madison and Alison were the only kids of there parents. They had no brother. They both lived a life of luxury. She attacked my lips and in a swift move, she was straddling me, her hands in my hair. Camila, Camila, Camila. Camila Brinx- Camorra. Alma’s heart pounded. She pushed open the door. A bell tinkled. A woman with long, black hair looked up from behind the counter, and froze. Their eyes locked. Something ancient passed between them. Recognition without memory. Alma stepped forward. “You don’t know me but I think we’re sisters.” The woman’s hand trembled. She came around the counter, eyes brimming with confusion, and something like hope. “My name is Zehra.” Alma nodded. “My name is Alma.”

My mind is still a tangled nest of broken, hazy memories, but at least I’m well enough to be outside. We walk for another twenty minutes before the sense that we’re no longer alone jolts me back into awareness. Emelda smiles from ear to ear when a young vampire who looks strikingly like her waltzes up to us through the receding fog. “Emmie,” the woman grins. “Alma. Thanks for coming.” Emelda matches her grin. I look between the two women, coming to the conclusion that they must be twins. Emelda is just a bit taller than her sister, but that’s pretty much it.

By the time we reached the bunker I was certain that Alma is indeed a high priestess, and far older than her appearance portrays, and that she has taken the other two under her wing to teach them the ancient magic that has been all but forgotten. I was excited to introduce Alma and Imelda, the two of them are so similar, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were already acquainted. Something inside me kept telling me there was a connection between them and I couldn’t turn off that inner voice, no matter how hard I tried.
