Alpha Beta Ranking Novels & Stories

“I can't see any of you losing” “We will still be together” interjected Nicholas. “Yes we will. We will be together just like we are in the very same room with our beautiful mate” confirmed Alexander. “I want you to promise me” stated Leila, battering her eyes on her mates. The one who wins becomes Alpha and the one who loses will be Beta” “That’s impossible Leila” sighed Alexander. “No. You have to promise me.” Snapped Leila. Nicholas pulled Leila on his lap, “We are from legendary alpha bloodline, we cannot be beta” he cooed.

Alexa was still standing in front not wanting to move. “Don’t even think!” I pointed my finger at her sharply. She looked at me hurt, turning to the house, but I couldn’t risk anything else happening to her, even though she was a good warrior, she was my only relative and as my younger sister, she would have to lead a pack if anything happened to me. I had 300 souls with me who were willing to follow me and I was grateful I deserved it. “We are ready for the movement Alpha”, Tyron echoed.

“No pressure, then.” Corvin arched a brow. “You’re already under it. You just keep pretending you’re not.” Silence stretched between us, heavy with things I didn’t want named. “What happens,” I asked finally, “if the Alpha rejects the bond?” Corvin didn’t answer right away. He stared into his mug, jaw tightening. “Then the fire looks elsewhere,” he said. “And gods help anyone standing in its path.” My wolf snarled uneasily. I stood, heart pounding. “You’re saying she’s dangerous.”

I asked. “The rankings have been updated,” he replied, looking excited. The scent of excitement filled the air as every Alpha around me surged in one direction, toward the Academy’s sacred Ranking Stone. I followed his line of sight to find the massive stone leaderboard etched with the names of the top Alpha contenders., the Hierarchy. I followed, half-curious, half-anxious to the massive stone leaderboard etched with names. “Is it updated every after trial?” I asked. “Yes and it changes dramatically everytime,” Finn explained.

This is why dating is discouraged among unmated wolves because many hearts are broken due to partners finding their destined mates. The werewolf race is ruled by the most powerful wolves and they have a strict hierarchy. There are ranks which differentiate their power, the strongest is called an alpha and he's the leader of the whole pack. His second in command is called beta, gamma and delta are the third and fourth in command respectively. These ranks are given according to strength or one has to be born in a ranked family. The Alpha though, is born into his role but could be overthrown if defeated by a challenger.

I stared at his expression a little longer, making sure that I did not think of it the wrong way but he still have that soft gaze. "So, love? You have no questions?" he asked again I just sighed and discarded what I saw, or imagined. "I heard the people here call you alpha, what exactly is it?" I asked "It can be equated with a leader in your world. I am technically the one leading our pact and the highest authority" he briefly explained "So, like a president" I muttered "I don't really know the difference but you can think that. Sebastian is the beta and Dane is the gamma" "...what?"

It was clear in the way they carried themselves and how their very presence seemed to fill the hall. “Alphas,” the voice said from beside me, slightly startling me. It was Richard. I had no idea he’d been so close. “They are all Alphas; the rest present are either betas—second in command to the Alpha, gammas—third in command, commanders and all their mates.” “I guess that explains it.” “Having so many Alphas so close could easily end in catastrophe; we could only hope that wouldn’t be the case.” “Why so?” “Unlike every other wolf, Alphas are the most dominant of them all. They believe themselves the highest, and so imagine when they are all together—when they are forced to see another higher

“Go on.” “The Alpha’s spouse, mate, wife however you want to put it is the female Alpha, so every pack has two Alphas. The Beta is second in command, meaning the second strongest and biggest, followed by the Gamma. The same rules apply to their mates as well.” “That’s a lot of people with a lot of authority, don’t you think?” I say. “Two of everything it’s really confusing, don’t you think?” “Think of it this way. Humans have what they call a government, right? Now, the Alpha is the president, and the first lady is his mate. The Beta is the vice president, and the Gamma is the prime minister. It’s as simple as that.

Alpha - Ruler of a wolf pack/ 1st in command Beta - 2nd in command Gamma - 3rd in command Delta - 4th in command and train to become the next Beta • • •

“What do you mean by that?” “When the alpha dies of natural causes, the beta ascends to the position. Betas are the second in command, the second highest rank and in order to become a beta, you must be strong and powerful too. But that’s not the only way. If you are much powerful as you think you are, you are always allowed to challenge the alpha to a fight and if you kill the alpha, you get to become the alpha.” “That seems absurd.” “It’s not. It’s just the way some of us live.”
