She caught a glimpse of who the caller was and immediately picked it up. She pressed the phone against her ear and slowly leaned in her seat. It was still early, but it seemed like she was getting tired for some reason. She opened her mouth. "Emily?" ["Oh- hi!"] A familiar voice rang from the other line. There were rustling and distant voices of children from the other line and a small hush of Emily in an attempt to calm her siblings down. Althea smiled at herself. The intercom rung again, loudly this time and seeing him ignore it once again, Alice picked it up to the annoyance of Alex. Looking at the call, she saw that it was from the receptionist and that made her think about all the bad looks she has been receiving from mostly all of the women in the company. Her mood dampened slightly. She sighed deeply and answered,”hello…Alice Jet here. You want to talk to Alex? I mean Alexander Johnson is currently busy but I can relay a message to him.” She uttered over the phone.

And the Alpha was supposed to be home, too. I pulled out my phone, my fingers trembling slightly as I dialed her number. It rang but no answer. A prickle of anxiety crawled up my spine as I tried again. And again. Still nothing. I swallowed hard, my throat tightening as I called a fourth time, my heart hammering against my ribs. Come on, pick up. On the fifth try, the line clicked, and for a second, relief flooded through me. But the voice I heard on the other end was not my mother’s. It was the Alpha’s.

On it was written, “Springland Hospital, New York. Name: Charlotte Finch Position: Midwife...” She placed it back into the diary since none of the information was important to her. After dialing the number, about three to five seconds later, someone picked up the call. Charlotte felt like she had grasped a lifeline. Without waiting for the person on the other end to speak, she said, "Hello, is this Glory Hospital?" There was a brief pause from the other end. After a moment, a clear and calm voice said, "Is your friend sick?"

Stared at the screen. My thumb hovered over the green button. One more ring. I pressed answer. Lifted it to my ear. "Hello?" Silence. Then a voice. A woman. Smooth. Commanding. "Alicia dear." I straightened. My grip tightened on the phone. "Who is this?" A pause. Then: "Margaret Chen."

Alex checked the number and found out it was a new line and a very strange number to him. He didn't want to pick it at first but then he decided to. So he did. " Hello... who is this?" Alex asked as he dropped back the phone in his bed and put it on Loud speaker. " Yes! Prince Alexander... there is a meeting among the princes and you have to attend it!" Said the person over the phone " Who is this?" Alex asked uninterested.
